Earlier in the day, I posted a bunch of game-after quotes, the lazy-man’s blog.
However, that was before Clemson defeated Miami in Miami. Now, Georgia Tech needs to only win its two remaining ACC games, against Wake Forest and Duke, no less, and it’s headed to Tampa to play for the ACC title.
Who would they play, you ask? Right now, it would be a rematch against the Tigers. Clemson and BC are tied atop the Atlantic, but the Tigers have the tie-breaker thanks to the beatdown they administered to the Eagles earlier this year. Remember that one? BC had 54 yards, I think, in the game.
I think of all the teams from the Atlantic that Tech would not want to play, Clemson would be at the top of that list. The Tigers seem to have gotten things figured out on offense now, and freshman quarterback Kyle Parker, for all the mistakes he made against Miami, still led the the Tigers to the win in a tough place to play.
Plus, the Tigers have the experience of already playing Tech’s offense once this season. Of course, CPJ has the experience of playing them, as well.

Now, back to what I had earlier:
Georgia Tech Player Quotes
Junior Running Back Anthony Allen
On winning in Charlottesville for the first time since 1990:
“Coach gives us all the motivation we had a lot of firsts this year and this has to be one of the biggest ones.”
On wearing down the Virginia defense:
“When we had that 11 minute drive as A-backs, we are rolling in and out.
We are staying fresh as we’re coming in looking at the lineman across from us. That dog tired. We knew we had them right then.”
On the difference makers between this season and last season:
“We are just playing as a team. We are trying to finish. We are practicing hard, getting ready for our games better we are just playing as a team a lot better this year.”
On the effectiveness of the triple option:
“I was just going to my assignments, but with the triple option they have to stop three valuable assets to the game they have to stop the dive, they have to stop the quarterback, and they have to stop the pitch. Sometimes you can tell that they get weary going to stop one part while they are trying to get to another part.”
On the success of the pitch:
“With the 3-4 defense that they run, they have the second man on line which is usually the guy we pitch off of and he was coming up and trying to play the pitch and the quarterback, but he had to determine which one he wanted.
“He was taking the quarterback and then sometimes he couldn’t get out.”
On the significance of the win:
“We came into the locker room at halftime and we knew we were playing for the championship. We were playing to go into first place. We had to come out in the second half and take it home. We had to play smash-mouth football and that’s what we did.”
Georgia Tech Head Coach Paul Johnson
On the win:
“That was a good win. We didn’t play very well in the first half and you have to give Virginia some credit. They showed up and played hard. I thought we played much better in the second half. We controlled the game on offense, and once we got in the red zone on defense, not to give up a touchdown was big. As long as you do that, you’re going to win a lot of football games.”
On Georgia Tech’s defense:
“We didn’t give up any big plays and that was key. If you don’t give up a big play, you have the chance to snap it again and make another play on defense. When you hold them to nine points, that’s pretty good.”
On Georgia Tech quarterback Josh Nesbitt:
“He’s way better now than he was a year ago. The more you do things, the better you’re going to get at them. I think the game has slowed down for him. Last year, the game was so fast for him. He has a better feel for what is going on.”
On the Georgia Tech team:
“They believe in themselves and what we are doing here. They’ve worked hard.
When they come to play, they feel like they are going to win. Everyone keeps doubting them, and they keep coming back and trying to answer the call.”
On winning at Virginia for the first time since 1990:
“I talked to them about it before the game. I told them that Georgia Tech hadn’t won here since 1990, and that they could be the team to break that streak.”
Junior Running Back Jonathan Dwyer
On field conditions and effects:
“I wouldn’t say it was difficult to cut. It was difficult to burst felt like you had 20-pound weights on your feet. That was kind of unusual. I wasn’t used to that since high school.”
On intensity:
“I guess a lot of guys on the team were challenging me to go full speed and go all out throughout this whole game and take every opportunity that’s given to me. I was trying to make a play to get the team fired up.”
On breaking tackles:
“My position coach [Brian] Bohannon keep telling me on the head set, ‘Keep plugging, keep plugging. You’re going to break one sooner or later. So just keep playing.’ That was my mindset throughout the whole game.”

Tech is having a great season and my Dawgs are having a lousy season. Give the Jackets credit, it will not kill you or give you a rash that calamine lotion cannot cure. This Dawg fan has no problem saying Go Jackets. I know the Jacket fan base will give me a pass on that Thanksgiving weekend. I am really looking forward to that game as the in-game blogging base will get close to double. That should be fun. Most of you know that I have been pulling for my in-state team all year. In a little bit I will be at church congratulating my friend who attended the Institue when I was at UGA. He is a great guy and I am happy for him and the Tech fanbase. It has been a long time coming which makes it even more sweet.
Tech’s D has to play as well the rest of the way as they did versus UVA. The D graded out as a 15 on my league numbers. Keep that up and with your offense, you will be fine.
For those interested in Baylie’s condition google KT syndrome. That will give you a description of the disorder. On a scale of 1-10 of the disorder she has a 9 with some change. That is what her Doctor at the Mayo Clinic said, not just a worried Dad. She is cheerful and has a personality that draws people to her. She rarely makes school but is on of the school favorites. Everytime I take her to school or pick her up, the other kids go out of their way to help or say hello. Supersize, you can contact me at emrbg@aol.com if you want to learn more about Baylie. Just put Baylie in the subject.

Don’t think Virginia wants to see the Diesel, Ant, or Nesbitt again anytime soon. I just wish my man Bay-Bay had caught that over the head pass. Well on second thought, maybe it’s better he didn’t, so he won’t be tempted to leave for NFL next year.

We need PSU to lose again to get out of playing them. I don’t want some lousy big 10 team in the bowl. I still see a nat champ possibility with the way the teams ahead of us are playing. uf and bama are not dominant nor is usc.

Bless Clemson’s heart– for now! The REAL key to Tech is more that our defense has begun to find itself. The Golden Option is old fashion, but you cannot argue with its overall success—> a record of 16-5 so far in two seasons at Georgia Tech with wins over the Mutts, Va. Tech, FSU (twice) and UVA up there. Clearly it can be derailed (LSU and Miami), but that is easier said than done. Paul Johnson notes that he is anxious to sign some OL best suited for the scheme… to their credit, most current Jacket starters signed expecting Gailey’s pro-style offense, but Dwyer, Nesbitt, etc., have adapted well. I have noticed that Bob Davies and other former coaches keep marveling at the offense, although idiot gadfly Lee Corso had presaged a UVA upset victory..
The Mutts seem really to be struggling on defense– I like our odds of taking them again on God’s Field/Hallowed Ground. I see a Top 10 finish.

Oracle, the blessing of Courso is a curse. You want him to bless the other team. He did pick the Horned Frogs to win against BYU while he was at BYU. Ugliest head I ever saw him put on. BYU’s legendary coach Lavelle Edwards was on the panel at the table. Lavelle was wearing a Master’s logo windbreaker. Well I got a kick out of it.

Cuz, Here’s a story for you. The date: Jan. 2, 1991 – I was in a waiting room outside the delivery room at St. Joseph’s Hospital in Augusta. My first-born, a daughter had just been delivered and was immediately transported to the MCG NICU. We didn’t know it at the time, but she was born with Pierre-Robin Syndrome and had congenital heart defects as well. My family and I were in shock. One of the things that brought us out of shock was a family member breaking the tension by announcing, “the UPI just voted Georgia Tech National Champs”. Despite all the tension, my grandfather (now deceased), a lifelong Tech fan let out a HUGE grin. It was a needed diversion.
To make a loooong story short, she had open heart surgery at two days old. Later she would require 15 surgeries, including two more heart surgeries. She has been touch and go numerous times. Never underestimate the power of prayer.
My daughter is now 18 years old and was elected Homecoming Queen by her senior classmates a few weeks ago. She also recently got a hug from CPJ after the win in Tallahassee. CPJ was an assistant at Georgia Southern when I was there working for Erk, back in the 80’s. She’s a big Jacket fan, but she also slips with my in-laws every now and then and pulls for the Dawgs. I let it slide. Sometimes things have to be put in perspective.
Hang in there my man. It’ll all work out.

ACC has only 3 teams ranked, and the best is Miami of Florida who plays no one the rest of the year. Georgia Tech LOST to Miami of Florida 17-33.
Miami of Florida is in the BCS Bowl, and Georgia Tech relegated to the Gator Bowl. Give me a break Tech Nerds are in here saying that Miami of Florida is going to lose a game coming up. Who ? BCS Number 51 Climpsum Farmers ? BCS Number 60 Weak Forest ? BCS Number 65 Hapless Virginia ? BCS Number 51 North Carolina ? BCS Number 76 worthless little Duke Dukies ? To end the season, Miami of Florida plays 3-loss Southern Florida, whatever that is, who will have Losses to Cincinnati, Pittsburg, and West Virginia, possibly also losses to Rutgers and UCONN. What a soft schedule and long shot to hope 1 of these teams beats Miami of Florida when they LAMBASTED the Number 13 AP Poll Georgia Tech 33-17. Get real these CUPCAKES will do what you Georgia Tech could not.
Not that it matters, because no one from Georgia Tech will go. Georgia Tech is the very worst school in the Southeast in traveling well.
Jeff Schultz can write all he wants, and the facts will REMAIN the SAME. Georgia Tech is NOT going to a BCS Bowl. Miami of Florida plays NO ONE. There is NOT a team in the Top 25 remaining for Miami of Florida to play, not 1. There is not a team in the Top 50 remaining for Miami of Florida to play, not 1.
Never mind that Georgia Tech has an even softer easier schedule than Miami of Florida. Georgia Tech has games against NO ONE, except for UGA to end the season. By then, Miami will face off against hapless Boston College who has an even softer schedule than Miami of Florida and Georgia Tech.
ACC.
Bunch of junk.
Has been.
Is.
Will be.
Weak Forest, Maryland and Duke all 3 have the 3 softest schedules of any BCS school in America : SoS # 83, #84 and # 85 in the country. This is because there is NO top ACC team. Never has been. Never will be. And, certainly is NOT.
As the announcers said on the TV game of Georgia Tech Saturday night, it is BAD for the ACC that Virginia Tech lost.
10 AP Poll Number 10 Miami of Florida BEAT Georgia Tech 33-17.
13 AP Poll Number 13 Georgia Tech LOST to Miami of Florida no one there.
15 AP Poll Number 15 Virginia Tech blown out by Alabama, lost to Ga Tech, also not even a sell-out.
In the Atlantic Division, there is NO RANKED TEAM.
CUPCAKES PLAYING CUPCAKES.
Whichever Coastal team goes to the ACC Chumpionship Game, plays yet ANOTHER CUPCAKE.
Georgia Tech plays Georgia.
Georgia Tech knows NOTHING about the PASS, not on Offense, and NOT on Defense either.
114 Ga Tech # 114 Passing Offense.
108 Ga Tech # 108 Passing Efficiency Defense.
78 Ga Tech # 78 Total Defense misses Jon Tenuta against soft schedule.
68 Ga Tech # 68 Rushing Defense.
79 Ga Tech # 79 Kick-off Returning team.
72 Ga Tech # 72 Scoring Defense.
60 Ga Tech # 60 Net Punting.
86 Ga Tech # 86 Pass Defense.
70 Ga Tech # 70 Sacking opposing quarterbacks.
91 Ga Tech # 91 Tackling for a Loss.
ACC does NOT compete nationally. And, Jeff Schultz writes an article of how Georgia Tech is going to win a National Championship. That would be a 1st since Georgia Tech has NEVER EVER been Ranked Number 1 in the Final AP Poll.
I know you guys are down there in the slums of Atlanta where the crime and drugs are, but seriously put your pipe down, get outside and get some exercise and try to meet a girl or something normal because Georgia Tech is NOT winning any national championship since you cannot even play in the ACC Chumpionship Game. You play a weak schedule, have no good game left, just a LOSS to UGA. You beat 1 team who is RANKED in the BCS Rankings Top 25 and that team beat NO ONE in the BCS Rankings Top 25. You never see a pass, so you can’t defend the pass nor throw one yourself. You have a horrid defense, and note all this is against a really sorry soft schedule. National Championship when Tech has NEVER been # 1 in the Final AP Poll EVER, ha ha ha ha ha. Put the pipe down nerds, you jerks. EAT MY MILK AND COOKIES!!!!!!!! BULLdawg………..

A Tech alum that has seen the lean years, this is the most excitement in many years, Go Tech!!
To the Dogs:
We are coming… with the “high school” offense… can you hear the rumbling, the next record to be STARTED is the 7 wins in a row over the dogs. I foresee that you will change several assistant coaches at the end of the year, and the head coach next year after you loose the 3ed in a row to the “high scool” offence.
Isn’t fun to be competitive in the series? I know I like it better this way. PS: I hope you do beat FL, it will look better on our record when we trounce you. But unfortunately reality sets in and you will only be the 3ed mediocre SEC school to loose to the “high school” offense.

Your ranting child BuLLdawg has a lot of crow to eat. It only shows his lack of knowledge and ability to predict the outcome of a football game. I guess he is frustrated because his glorious bulldawgs have had a lousy season and will only get worse when Tech beats them again this year… They aren’t even mentioned in the same breath as the top 25 teams, let alone top 10, or even BCS bowl eligible teams. Maybe they can play in the blue carpet bowl, but hope they don’t have to play Boise St. Maybe they will stay home and lick their ego’s

Navy beat Wake. Hmmmmmm
NC? Hard to see it happening. Losing to Miami WASN’T the problem. It was the dropping in the polls from #13 to out of the polls. If we had dropped to #20, we might be ranked 6th now.

Thr funny thing is POLLS are a joke. The polls shouldn’t start until the 5th week of the season for sure. Look at all the Great SEC teams that play the Money needing Teams for the first 3-4 weeks. Tech had a pre-season game at JAX St but played 3 games in 13 days with 2 REAL TEAMS of the 3 played and lost to Miami as a dead tired Jacket team. The only team I fear right now is Oregan.

PoaD – I think you all will pop the top ten today. It sucks that you all had so far to move up after Miami, and some of the teams in front of you all have very weak schedules which probably pi$$es the Tech faithful quite a bit.
Looks like your D is catching up with the awesome O, but they still have few holes to fill. IF GT can shore up the D a tad bit more, I truly believe you all should be Top 5. Tech is hitting on 7 of 8 cylinders right now, and with a few more Vs under the belt the “wreck” will being running pretty damn strong by the end of the year when it matters most.

Our game had the worst announcers I have heard in a Tech game in a while. It seems they could never get the situation right. They would talk about Virginia’s great play on a third and short when Tech got the first down and then some. They never got the distance right for the first downs and would be talking up Virginia like they had stopped us and what a great play it was then wake up to the fact we had a first down. They showed a block put on Morgan once like it was a game changer and failed to notice we had dropped the runner for a loss behind the line of scrimmage.
I am glad Tech is still 11. It will challenge the team to keep playing. A lot of these teams ahead of us have the real part of the schedule in the back part of their year. If we keep winning it will be a contest between us and the Cincinnati’s, TCUs and Boise State’s on who is playing for the national championship. The rest outside Texas have losses on the schedule. Florida will lose this coming weekend. Then go and beat Bama in the championship game. Texas will lose in it championship game and Iowa will get beat by Ohio State. Fun stuff.

I live in SC and am surrounded by Clemson orange. Yes we have to win 2 more games and Clemson has to get by FSU but if the Tigers play GT for ACC Title, their fans will jump on Tampa like it’s the national championship. DO NOT LET CLEMSON FANS become the 12th man. When GT played Wake in Jacksonville, both teams are allotted tickets but Ticketmaster sold them too. Those are up for grabs and have the bulk of the tickets. DO NOT LET CLEMSON grab those tickets.
Paul Johnson and this team deserves better from Tech fans. Let this be your holiday if you have to but go to this game. Ask anyone that has been to Memorial Stadium at CLemson or seen Clemson play on the road. It does not matter what their record is, they can take over any stadium and did at Wake a few years ago when Clemson was 0-3. It doesn’t stop them. ALL THE WAY TURNT UP JACKETNATION
