I’m about 20 minutes outside of Charlottesville, riding with former esteemed colleague Dave Fairbank of the Newport News Daily Press.
We’ve passed the time talking about Chairman Groh, the fun of Paul Johnson, etc.
When I get to the press box, I’ll start posting some notes.

Clemson is a beautiful town and great place to WIN. And you have to go to the ESSO at least once when you are there. Va. Tech was nice too. We were there for the GT win a few years back. We went downtown to the Open Market to shop for Local produce and ate in the Market area. It was great fresh food.

The original Dreamland in Tuscaloosa. The chains are all too sanitized. The original looks like some country nightclub/diner you’d see in some 1970’s movie set in the South (think “Deliverance”, “Walking Tall”, “Smokey and the Bandit”, etc.). Ribs to make you wanna eat your hand and banana pudding to make you wanna eat the spoon. And the cool memoriabilia and authographs everywhere are fun to check out.
Today is the day! Time to end this curious streak to the Cavaliers or Wahoos or whatever they’re calling themselves today. GT wins going away and “the ride” continues this season. Dreamland you are right. Went with a Bama Fan friend to see the Bama vs UGA when Eric Z was playing. Big John was still alive and you could get Ribs sent Fedex if you couldn’t get to the game. Yes that place is a Shack but like you said the Food was great.

hey doug what kind of recruits are tech looking at right now? anyone that looks like nesbitt dwyer and thomas? when those guys leave tech is in trouble again. i dont think tech can recruit those type of players with that high school offense they run. what big time back will go to tech where he only gets the ball 8 -10 times a game and never really learns how to play the running back position at least to get to the next level. receiver too. i think pj hurts this team in the long run. right now he is having sucees with Chans big time recruits but when they leave he will have div 1AA players there running that offense and it will really look like a high school offense then. so do you see tech ever winning a National Title with PJ there? i dont see them even getting close.

The high after coming off a big win last weekend more than anything is probably why GT looks a little lethargic. But I think they’ll pull away big time in the 3d Q and just keep going. VA is not a good team at all. Remember they lost to William and Mary and Southern Miss.

Wow, sorry not going for that losers argument. Real teams meaning who? ACC has VT Miami and GT as the top teams. the rest are middle of the pack. SEC has FLA and ALA and a maybe LSU. uga will be fine this year and hear on out. uga actuallt have big time players on their team and their young so thety will only get better..tech on the other hand is getting older and after next year wont have the players to run that high school offense against the better div 1 teams..then its back to 8-4 and 6-6 seasons while uga will be playing for a NC with murry and company..uga will never fear tech as they shouldnt.its not about the X’s and O’s but the Bobby’s and Joe’s..meaning its about the players you put on the field and uga will always have the beter players..and with richt and company will have the better coaches as long as tech has the best high school coach in college football on the sideline..aka mr gimmick

The UGA kool aid will need to be mixed with grain alcohol next week. Urban goes for style points in the polls. Leaves Tebow in too long etc. The kool aid drinkers still haven’t figured out that this is a “rebuilding” year for the curs.
First half play matched the weather. Played right, the option should be an advantage in the rain with the detriment of course being the greater chance for turnovers. I would like to see a pass on first down more often to keep the secondary off the line.

Why the hell would you feel sorry for Dwyer. Do you think he would rather get the ball and be tackled for no yardage because the defense id keying on him, or let somebody else (for instance, Nesbitt) carry to ball for yardage? Do you really think Dywer is in it for himself, instead of the team? Is that the way players are in Athens? Is that why they have become the perennial laughing stock of the SEC? They all play for themselves and not for the team. That could sure answer a lot of questions about why the mutts suck so bad.

Gotta love the UGAg mouthpieces on here – finally deciding to watch a team that can win even when the conditions are bad AND in a big away game. Too bad we have the best QB in the state theirs sucks Cox.
Nesbitt is looking good so far and I like the continued handoffs to Dwyer up the middle, it’s making them play in instead of the spread D they were running earlier to shut off our pitches. CPJ is doing that intentionally and will continue to do it as long as they are in spread formation. Watch and learn, chihuahuas, from a coach who knows how to make in-game adjustments.

cant tell looking at him this year..but he is a good back a very good back for the pros but again he a chan recruit that was recruited to run in a pro style offense..not the high school offense tech runs now…now fast foward to two years and see how big your running back is ..he wont look anything like dwyer..or allen for that mattr..but right now those players are making the big plays..tech only has those players one more year

I agree with Booger.. how terrible are the Raycom broadcasts? How about a down and yards to go indicator on the score graphic? Does that cost extra cash to add? I also liked how it would be 3rd or 4th and short and decision time, and they’d be zoomed in on some random players head talking about his GPA or what his dad does for work… terrible.

Really big win today for GT. Now MUST wins Wake & at Duke. Wins over Vandy & UGA would be nice but are not necessary. GT needs to get into the mind frame that conference losses are not allowed. Lose to either Wake or Duke & might as well have lost today.

The top five defensive SEC teams are in order, Florida, Bama, Vols, Ole Miss and believe it or don’t, Vandy. Tech will destroy Vandy. They would beat Ole Miss by a field goal, be in the game but lose to UT and lose to Bama and the Gators as we stand now. Just based on the numbers I put together for my DC fantasy league. Well you see Jacob, when you have these high powered athletes competing at the highest level for college football you have these types of games (Bama/UT). They my not look very impressive to you right now but if you were playing one of these teams today, you would get crushed. Jacob….the SEC is just a whole different level of college football. atl xmen, if it makes you feel better, I do think the SEC is the best conference. I hate it that Tech has to play the teams they play in the ACC, but that’s the way it is.
With that being said, you are still not very bright. Even other uga fans on this blog are hinting to you that Tech is better than you give them credit for. In past seasons Tech may have been 5-3 or even 4-4 at this point in the season. But facts are facts and arguing over schedules or power ratings still doesn’t change the fact that Tech is a good team and is playing better football than uga is right now. Maybe a fair barometer in your eyes will be how Tech does against Vandy next week, so we can compare apples to apples.
So until then, just take a hint (even from your uga brethren) to just be quiet.

Jacob I posted earlier that the SEC was UF and Bama with the rest of us limping behind. Florida does not have an explosive offense. They grind it out slowly. Bama has an even worse offense. But both have a dominating defense. In my fantasy league, touchdowns allowed does not include pics by the defense. The Gators have the top defense in the conference, Bama is number two and yep you guessed it, Monte Kiffins boys are third.
Bama or the Gators would beat any ACC team today. We shall see what happens by the end of the season.

Jacob, it took me days to develop the DC fantasy league. I have not made the OC fantasy league yet. I made the DC league to see if Willie really needed to go. The answer so far is yes. But Wommack beat Willie by 7/10s as of this morning with no strength of schedule. Wommack is toast at the end of this year also.

POAD, all those TDs are offensive TD’s given up by a defense. Intercepted TD’s are not counted against a team as they were made against an offense. They are counted as interceptions or fumbles though.
