Yes, it’s been that long

It’s been a slow week on campus, as odd as that sounds with what’s at stake on Saturday.
Coach Paul Johnson said it’s questionable that Cooper Taylor will play on Saturday. Julian Burnett likely won’t play, as well.
That was the big news from today’s practice.
With that, I thought it might be fun to take a look back at 1990, the year GT won the UPI national championship, and the last year that Georgia Tech won in Charlottesville. This is from the web site www.thepeopleshistory.com.

I remember well when the Jackets put a whipping on Osborns’ cornhuskers. With the help of CPJ and a hardnose bunch of football players, may our good fortunes return to that level again.

Actually, we had a triple option (slightly different from today’s version) that we used with the CBR teams including the 1990 National Championship team.

Just like in 1990, Tech will prevail in Charlottesville. Paul Johnson is an excellent coach. The mission goes on to winn the ACC.

Go to http://isportsweb.com for more Georgia Tech Football articles including a posting about Kam Chancellor, as well as a preview of the upcoming game at UVA. Go Jackets!

The Space Probe Voyager launched in 1977 photographed the Solar System at a distance of 3.7 miles from the SUN

I don’t think so. A distance of 3.7 solar units, maybe.

Yeah – that’s what I was thinking. I imagine Voyager would have vaporized loooong before it ever got within that distance. Can we get a fact check at register 3?

Wahoowa,

GQ recently rated UVA one of the country’s “douchiest” universities. Namely for doing things like referring to your school as “The University” and hanging out on “the Grounds”. C’mon, man. Chill with the Proper Nouns, Mr. Jefferson.

Was at the 2001 GT @ UVA game. Charlottesville is a must see.
Godsey leads late TD drive to go up 33-32 with less than two minutes to play. UVA score winning TD on Hook & Lateral with about 20 seconds left. Damn !!!!!!!!!!

GT returns 17-18 starters from ast year.
UVA returns 8. Thats not a typo. 8.
Fewest in ACC, and perhaps in D-1, except maybe “Marylan” (no D).

GT should completely crush UVA.

UVA HC AL Groh is DEFINITELY out at season’s end.

Mike London HC at U of Richmond is likely the new UVA coach next year.
He’s a proven winner and amazingly good at recruiting. BTW, Richmond won the D-1AA NC Title in 2008.

When UVA hires London, it will mean the start of a downward trend for VT. VT has ben getting the all the best in-state recruits by default b/c all the good recruits cant stand Al Groh.

So, Hello Mike London, goodbye Hokies.

bugsquacher – You mean a beat down like the one the butt sniffers put on Tennessee? I’m still laughing about the fact that Bud Foster (Virginia Tech DC) consulted with Willie Martinez on how to stop Tech’s option offense. I guess that means we’ve gashed ol’ Willie twice already. Clearly, he still doesn’t have a clue on how to stop us.

Wait, this just in – Roddy Jones just took another pitch and ran down the sideline for a score. The UGA defensive backs stare in disbelief at the realization that Jones didn’t go down when they tried to bump him out of bounds. Sadly, they now realize they are boys playing a man’s game.

TO HELL WITH GEORGIA!!!!!!!!!!!

Don’t send my boy to M.I.T.
The dying mother said.
Don’t send my boy to Emory
I’d rather see him dead.
But send my boy to Georgia Tech
‘Tis better than Cornell.
But as for University of Georgia:
I’d RATHER SEE HIM IN HELL!

CHORUS:
To hell, to hell to hell with Georgia,
To hell, to hell to hell with Georgia,
To hell, to hell to hell with Georgia,
The Cesspool of the South!

Mine eyes have seen the glory of the stomping of the dogs,
We will teach those poor darn farm boys they should stick to slopping hogs,
When the Jackets are triumphant we will raise a mighty cheer,
“We’ll do the same next year!”

On the field between the hedges there arose a mighty stench,
In the dog machine the engineers will throw a monkey wrench,
When the Jackets are triumphant we will raise a mighty yell,
“Them dogs can go to hell!”

Mine eyes have seen the glory of the NCAA,
They’re investigating Georgia players to see how much their paid,
After counting all the cars, and the loans alumni made,
They outpaid FSU!! (sucks dick!)

I think MIAMI is ranked in the TOP 25, but I don’t see the Dawgs or the VOLS. OKIE STATE is rapidly moving out of the Top 25. Feel good the Dawgs were lucky to beat S. Carolina who is in the top 25. Lets not talk about how the REFS STOLE the LSU game from the DAWGS. But LSU is in the top 25 so feel thet SEC LOVE. What is Tenn Tech ranked this week? Is Tenn Tech just ahead of Auburn, Kentucky, and Vandy or they just behind those SEC POWERHOUSE teams in the rankings?
