Nesbitt on Kam Chancellor’s comment
I would be remiss if I didn’t revisit the comments made by Virginia Tech safety Kam Chancellor this summer during an ACC media session in Greensboro.
Paraphrasing, Chancellor said he picked up something while watching film of the Jackets that he thought gave him a pretty good idea where the ball was going and what the play would be.
When asked about that at the same media session, coach Paul Johnson said that Chancellor should be able to make every tackle.
Chancellor had six tackles on Saturday.
Josh Nesbitt was asked if the team talked about Chancellor’s comments this week in the lead-up to the game.
He smiled and said, “How about them Jackets?”

Me and two of my friends ended up with a goalpost piece (I don’t care about the bad grammar at this point!). Had to break in to my lab across campus to steal a hacksaw to get the job done. Don’t tell my boss.
That’s going to be a hell of a memory from my senior year!!

During the ESPN late highlights of the game, they showed Chancellor getting fooled on play after play in the 2nd half. It was Kam’s lowlights…they specifically showed how GT took him completely out. What a night!! What a win!! BDS was rocking.

Notre Dame played its 1 good opponent all season long. And, Lost to knock Notre Dame out of the Top 25 of every poll. Notre Dame had managed, you recall, to Lose to 1 of its NON-RANKED opponents already. This is the only “opponent” on Notre Dame’s “Schedule” who is a ranked team, all season long.
Tennessee had a bye week. The vols will debut in the BCS Poll today at Number 43. The vols play Alabama next week, the only RANKED team on the vols’ “schedule” all season long except for Florida. The vols have already managed to lose 3. This week will be 4.
Florida beat LSU last week, the ONLY RANKED TEAM on Florida’s schedule, all season long. Florida beat South Carolina on a last second field goal, after the refs handed the crocodiles the game on the previous drive, with phantom call after phantom call to tie the game up. Then South Carolina missed an easy field goal that would have given Steve Spurrier the lead back.
Auburn, who plays its ONLY RANKED TEAM all season long next week at LSU besides the Alabama game to end the season, has seen fit to drop 2 of its games anyway. Auburn will debut in the BCS Rankings today at about the same ranking as the vols and Georgia do – all 3 teams NOT in The SEC top half but in the bottom half of The SEC.
The SEC will be the highest average BCS Ranking of every conference.
Oklahoma will drop out of the Top 25. Texas will be Number 3 behind both Florida as 1 and Alabama as 2.
LSU will debut at Number 7 in the BCS Rankings today, and ONLY plays 2 RANKED TEAMS all season long. The first was a Loss to Florida. The 2nd is Alabama and will also be a Loss leaving LSU in the Top 10 at the end of the season.
Ole Miss will debut in the BCS Rankings today almost in the Top 25, as it has on its resume the inexplicable Loss to UNRANKED South Carolina, which mars its season, just as the Loss to the UNRANKED vols mars Georgia’s season. Otherwise, Ole Miss plays 2 ranked teams in Losses to Alabama already and surely to LSU in the game before the Egg Bowl. It would be expected that Ole Miss will beat the lowly vols, right ?
Arkansas’ Bobby Petrino Lost to 1 Florida yesterday, 2 Alabama earlier and plays 7 LSU to end the season; but, Bobby Petrino Lost to UNRANKED Georgia leaving Bobby Petrino in the 2nd half of The SEC with the lowly vols and UNRANKED Georgia, all ranked about Number 43 in the BCS with the Average SEC team ranked Number 38.
Kentucky managed to beat Auburn this week, after having Lost 3 straight to 1 Florida, 2 Alabama and last week by 2 points to UNRANKED Steve Spurrier’s South Carolina hard luck crowd. There are no other RANKED TEAMS on Kentucky’s schedule besides 1 Florida and 2 Alabama, and the games at Georgia and then home to welcome the vols will determine Kentucky’s season.
Vanderbilt is not a good football team at all with Losses to Army and Mississippi State. So, you would expect Georgia Tech who plays only 1 game against anyone good, Georgia to end its season, to play Intramural Vandy in the game after next right ? Exactly. Vandy will end up 2-10 with its only win over a 1-A BCS team its win over 0-7 Rice. The only other win is over non-qualifying Western Carolina. Sad football team Vandy.
Mississippi State will end up 5-9, having a season no different from Vandy. So, you would expect that they too, played Georgia Tech, right ? Exactly.
Georgia Tech, who played 1 RANKED TEAM all season long and LOST, before last night, faces NO OTHER RANKED TEAM all season long. The only problem with Tech’s schedule, is that it faces Georgia to end the season, after having popped off its collective mouth (both of them) in here. The ACC is a really lousy conference.
Ohio State and Oklahoma both LOST AGAIN, which should knock both out of the Top 25, but it will be close to about Number 25 for both, maybe.
The Big 10 really sucks, while they have Iowa (joke) and Pennsylvania State (joke) to act like those 2 at least are any good at all, while playing NO ONE.
Not that Michigan plays any one any good all season long.
TCU and BYU face off next week, and neither plays a single ranked team all season long, besides this 1 game. Oklahoma will drop from the top 25, in my opinion. Therefore the Mountain West does NOT look any good at all, all ranked about Number 100 the entire conference, otherwise – just like the Big 10 and ACC.
Southern California, who prefers to be called USC like South Carolina is, plays its 1 RANKED TEAM, Oregon coming up the week after next. Ohio State’s loss today to previously zero Purdue ruins any chest thumping by Southern California for having beat Ohio State. Ohio State, bwaaaah.
Purdue had lost its previous 5 games in a row, including to Northern Illinois, but beat Ohio State by more than a Touchdown this week to absolutely put a fork in Ohio State yet again this season. Ohio State has issues.
Kansas Lost its game against hapless Colorado, and still faces a season of 5 Losses for Kansas. Please explain how the block of voters who vote as a block had Kansas a ranked team, please ? The “top-rated” team on Kansas’ schedule so far this season is debuting today in the BCS Rankings at Number 71, Duke.
Missouri Lost to Oklahoma State. This knocks both Missouri and Kansas from the Top 25. obviously.
Nebraska Lost too, so all 3 of those teams should be dropped from the Top 25.
Ole Miss could possibly almost move back into the Top 25.
Tennessee will not.
Georgia has Losses to Top 15 Oklahoma State, Top 7 LSU whom we should have beat, and to lowly Number 43 Tennessee vols to ruin our season last week. We face Number 1 Florida, a beatable team will not beat, next week. Then, we finish our season totally PO d against Georgia Tech, in here shooting its mouth off – both of you Tech fans.
The Tech ticket office was open right up to kick-off tonight in supposedly the only game Tech has ever played. The game was NOT a sell-out. Even with 4 cokes, 2 hotdogs, a bag of peanuts and a free parking pass to every ticket purchaser against supposedly a great football team, blown out by Alabama, and who hasn’t and won’t play a good team besides Alabama all season long. The ACC is a sorry football conference of nobody football teams.
SoS for the full season shows UGA’s Strength of Schedule is Number 5 in the country and Georgia Tech’s NOT in the Top 50.
Let’s see, while UGA faces Number 1 Florida next game, who does Georgia Tech face the rest of the year besides us ? 66 Virginia, 108 Vandy, 50 Weak Forest, 71 Duke. Nice schedule there Tech. Wusses. Play a real schedule. Play in a real conference.
Georgia could end up playing 4 top 10 teams in the Final Polls this year. Georgia Tech is the 1 game I would not give 2 hoots for Tech’s chances in, not after last year and what has been on this rag since. Try comparing records. Oh Tech will play against an ACC Coastal team in a game which no one will care about and no one will go to the game because Tech fans don’t go to your own home games against teams supposedly in the Top 4 in the nation.

BuLLdawg….nice try…you obviously have a lot of time on your hands….however, we could really care less whether or not the stadium was full…we could care less who played who when and where…we could care less who is number what in the BCS….the bottom line…we one a tough game against a very well coached football team in front of a national TV audience….and we did it with class. Your team will have their opportunity in November…we look forward to the challenge. Win or loose I will guarantee you that Tech will handle themselves with class. Hey Doug, how bout a photo of a piece of the goal post from the 1990 Citrus Bowl. I have a piece of one upright on proud display in my soon-to-be man room in the basement. Simply awesome. As we were walking up the hill, I could see pandamonium still going on in the stadium. Didn’t realize those guys were ripping down the north goal post. That will be a prize piece of history for whomever the owners are. The REAL and ONLY Tech stood up last night to be recognized. Just awesome!

Tenn, who killed the dawgs, got whipped by UCLA earlier this year, UCLA! And, since we want to throw out crap, how did you guys get Ealey eligible?? He didn’t qualify not too long ago according to some reports. Must have followed that famous Uga tradition of hitting Juco first. Classy posts, get used to the reality. Paul Johnson runs a much better program than Richt, and after this season, you guys are going to start getting challenged here in Ga with recruiting. I mean, why go to the ‘well we played hard but lost Dawgs’ when you can go to the ‘put up or shut up’ Johnson Jackets. We know Uga has a bigger stadium, knucklehead, but just wait. Houston is RANKED only 5 spots worse than Georgia Tech. What ? Is Georgia Tech a power every year in college football ? Doug — if you’re out there, could you clear-up who would win the division if Tech, Miami, and VT all win out? I know that once one team is eliminated from the three team tie breaker system, it reverts to the two team tie breaker system. But, when you look at the rules, a couple of the tie breakers are little confusing.

Poor little bulldawg, you whine about a top 5 schedule only to justify to yourself why you will have 5 or 6 losses by the end of the year. As I said from the beginning of the year, it must suck to be a UGAy fan as you could only hope to play for 2nd place of the SEC east. With at least 3 SEC losses you might still have a chance at that 2nd place title as the SEC sucks except for two teams. Now go get some rest so you can be ready for the lunch and dinner pizza delivery runs.
Back to real football. Nesbitt is becoming a real hero for this team. Yes, he has made some pitch mistakes. Making accurate pitches is much harder than it looks when you are in the 4th quarter and as exhausted as he must be after all the runnng and hits he takes during the game.
Great game, Great team, Great coach! It’s GREAT to BE A YELLOW JACKET!

Should Georgia Tech, Miami and Virginia Tech all win out and tie for the Coastal Division, the tiebreaker will likely go all the way down to highest-rated BCS team. Of course, should one team be within 5 spots of another, that gets convoluted, as well. It could come down to the toss of a coin.
GT and VT would seem to have the easiest road left.

Miami “The U” won a bunch of National Championships! Do you think they worried about the stadium being full, etc. They went out and destroyed teams and didn’t care! They won with 1/2 the crowd of standford stadium.

Don’t pay attention to the GT haters out there and their trash talk. GT fans need to enjoy this win this weekend because it was a great win. Next we have to focus on Virginia who we have had a hard time with in the past. Remember they beat us on homeecoming last year in our stadium and ruined our chances of playing for an ACC title. Al Groh always seems to start out slow with that team but we seem to play them every year when they start playing better football. If tech can stay in that offensive groove they are in and play decent defense the rest of the year they should be ok going into the Georgia game. GO JACKETS!

To claim the superiority of the SEC, especially this year, is to be delusional.
Believe it or not, the strongest conference in college football this year is the Pac 10.
Tennessee just may be the 6th best team in the SEC, but got beat by one of the lower teams in the Pac 10 (at home, nonetheless).
The SEC is becoming more and more like the Big 12, with a few elite programs, and a lot of bad to garbage to dumpster teams. UGA is on the cusp of falling into the garbage heap, whereas Vanderbilt has already made it to dumpster status, having lost to Army.
The worst team in the ACC is FSU, and they put a beatdown on BYU.
Once again, claiming SEC superiority is delusional.

A sincere congratulations to you Tech fans. I am a Dawg fan but I know a well coached team on a mission when I see one and it sure ain’t us. Tech is the real deal and you can’t help but be envious if you are a Dawg fan.
Odds are we’re gonna lose two in a row to the Jackets which is gonna be mighty painful given the ribbing we’ve been gettng from last year. The shoe is totally on the other foot. Now UGA needs to beat Tech to have a decent season. Maybe a big wake up call for the UGA coachig staff.
Anyway, enjoy the victory and the #11 ranking. Your earned it. Hope we get a hell of a lot better before we play you guys.

It seems to me that his half time adjustments are the key to our wins – Ugay last year, FSU and VATech so far this year.

I guess this loser BULLDAWG was all talk. I knew he wouldn’t put his email info up so all us tech fans could make that bet and take his money. Heck, the guy most likely lives in a mobile home up in winder, with the rebel flag flying high and 3 months late on the rent. My comments only directed to the one goofy georgia fan(bulldawg), not all uga fans for the record.
As far as our team is concerned, i think the sky is the limit. There is a bit of concern though. Our special teams is scary and we have no kicking game. We really need a solid kicker to add for next year and i hear we may give a scholarship to a kicker still in this years class. I must also say i’m not convinced wommack is the right guy to our defense. We played inspired last night for sure, but i’m just not sold on his scheme. The kids played their butt off on both sides of the ball. Cpj has the offense humming and it appears that our worst enemy could be us. I don’t think there is a defense left on the schedule that can stop our offense! Uva has been a huge thorn in our side up there since 1990. I just hope we just stay focused and let our offense impose the will on the uva defense and play ball control. If our defense has another good showing, we will beat uva by atleast 2 td’s. Let’s keep rolling and hope miami has 1 more loss in them!! GO JACKETS!!!!!!!!!!

Both Tech and UGA have played two current top 25 teams. Tech is 1-1, UGA is 0-2…about to be 0-3 in two weeks, then 0-4 in November.

Face it: Richt is a good coach, but now that Meyer, Saban, Miles, and Paul Johnson have started to get their programs rolling….it has shown that he is far from a great coach. All those top 10 recruiting classes and you’re 4-3 in a weak SEC outside of Bama and UF. UGA’s window has been slammed shut by 4 coaches that Richt can’t outcoach. A first year coach Kiffin also hobnail booted your sorry team back to Athens.
You had your shot. Now it is back to second in the SEC east every year, and riding the coattails of the LSU’s, Bama’s, and UF’s of the conference.

Surely no true dog fan knows so little about his/her own school. First of all, uog has only ended the season #1 in any relatively major ranking five times (not 6). The school itself only claims two – 1980 which I’ll give you and 1942, which is debatable. Second, even when it ended #1 they were NOT voted #1 by polls, and instead picked by mathematical systems (see below).

1942 – B(QPRS) (Berryman (QPRS)), BR (Billingsley Report), DeS (DeVold System), HS (Houlgate System), L (Litkenhous), PS (see above), SR (Sagarin Ratings), WS (Williamson System)

Enough about bulldawg everyone on here knows he’s just pissed that UGA gets rocked week after week and continues to look worse and worse, while Tech improves and gets more fun to watch every week.
But seriously, during the TV broadcast Bob Davie said with this offense you can actually out scheme teams and can be unstoppable without making mistakes and turnovers. Now that all the parts are clicking in the 2nd year in CPJ’s system it’s becoming evident that this is true. I mean you look at the last 2 weeks we have had the lead and about 5 minutes on the clock and we just burn it out without any touble because the defense can’t physically stop our offense because of the scheme. I mean you look at other offenses at the end of the game and they usually go 3&out when trying to just run it out, but with our offense we try to run it out and get 5-10 yards on every run. It’s just unblievable to see what coach johnson has done with this team in just 1 and a half years compared to what our program has been over the last 10 years. It’s a great time to be a Tech fan and it’s only going to get better. Just think of next year we have all of our starters on offense back again (assuming some don’t leave for the NFL). THE FUTURE IS BRIGHT

Great game – hated the VT fans behind us – kept throwing peanut shells – until Nesbitt found the 39 yard crease and scored. Then their very sour faces bemoaned lets “git out of heer” while we can. Yep – we are in nose bleed but they are dead on the 50.
I am quite intrigued by one comment – and I pose it as a question – Should Georgia join the ACC?
Just curious – Georgia would be a solid anchor and definitely a good competitor with CMR’s passing attack.

Plus, I love to make up stats like GT not playing any ranked teams thus far this year (VT was NOT the 4th) ranked team this year, thats totally made up. Oh yea, plus GT has NOT won 5 National Championships…..and has NOT won one more recently than my quickly-crumbling dawgs.

BulLdawg, One difference about Tech and Georgia football this year. Tech actually wins the games they play. So when Georgia wins a few games and you don’t spend your time talking about how great the teams were that walked all over you, then you might have something intresting to say. Last year in Blacksburg, Joshua lead a fourth quarter drive and converted a two-point conversion to tie the score. Even though we lost, he showed poise and leadership. Ever since that game, my confidence in his ability to lead our team has never wavered. Some said that Jaybo ran the option more smoothly. Some criticized his throwing. Georgia Tech has a rare and gifted leader at quarterback. Thanks, Josh.
