Live from beautiful Starkville

Howdy.
It’s a beautiful day in Starkville. Hope you are reading from here.
We are still several hours from kickoff, but I thought now might be a good time to get things going, seeing as what has already happened in the ACC today.
Clemson loses to Maryland!?!
North Carolina loses to Virginia?!?
Parity is one thing, but what the ACC is doing this season isn’t good for the conference, and especially not good for Miami, Georgia Tech or Virginia Tech.
The points systems that the computers use to determine the BCS rankings will blow a fuse putting those numbers together. The Hokies, Jackets and Hurricanes need big numbers if they want to move up the BCS rankings. Those losses won’t help.
What do you make of those losses?
What do you make of the ACC?

UNC has more problems than anybody knew about, and Clemson apparently has no heart. But Duke was looking good against VT people better look out for the Blue Devils they might surprise.

Interesting follow-up to Clemson making the ESPN top 15 recruiting classes. They have been there for a while now and the coaching hasn’t changed. They should of looked outside of the program for their new coach, Dabo may be able to succeed somewhere else but Clemson needs a serious culture change and I don’t think Dabo will create it. As far as the Jackets are concerned – who else can beat the Canes in the ACC? We could/might run the table but it might not matter. The nation already has no respect for Tech (see the big drop in rank from the lose to a ‘top 10′ Miami team). We could theoretically win the ACC and not crack the Top 10.

And UNC has no offense – did the Jacket’s defense really show up last week?

North Carolina was pathetic. Really took the shine off last weeks win. North Carolina’s program looks like it’s in reverse.

Clemson’s just being Clemson. Virginia Tech only beat Duke by 8. Florida State looks like their going down at BC.

Not good for the ACC.

It appears Scott Blair will handle kicking duties, if the starting lineup placards are correct.

Maryland looked good today, but all these teams are either hot or cold. I would like to see more consistency.

Doug, then that must mean we really do not have options other than Blair unfortunatley? Kicking game makes me sick. I wanted to take PJ’s place last week to chew Blair out on the out of bound kicks.

I can’t believe it is so hard to recruit a good kicker. I can’t remember a good kicker since Monget.

The kicker before Blair was at least consistent.

Things may change during warmups. I’m only going by what’s on the cardboard in front of me. I hope to ask someone from Tech in a few.

UPdate: Blair will handle kickoffs, Tanner will do field goals.

The ACC is as competitive as it was last year. We have to win out. We can’t be concerned (overly) with how the Coastal opposition is doing. Maintain laser-like focus and control what we can control, which means WIN OUT. If we do, chances are at least decent that Miami will trip at some point and then we’ll be in the driver’s seat.

“Toe Meets Leather”, the first of the StinGTees line of Tech historical football t-shirts, has shipped and is NOW AVAILABLE at http://www.stinGTees.com! Be amongst the first to ‘get your GT’!

Dominique Reese is listed as being back in the starting lineup, as well. We will see if he lines up with the first team.

Oh, and should you ever come to Starkville, you will likely see the most steep stadium steps you’ve ever seen. My god, you need a Sherpa to get to the top of the side opposite where I’m sitting.

How about those Seminoles! Holey Moley. Add that one to the “what do you make of the ACC.”
If Miami is beaten by Oklahoma tonight…bad things for the ACC.
