Don’t think this will be easy

Yes, Georgia Tech defeated Mississippi State 38-7 last season in a game that wasn’t even that close, if that’s possible.
But this year’s version of MSU isn’t the same as last year’s.
This team has the ability to both run, and stop the run.
That’s what people said about North Carolina before last week’s game, as well.
But the difference is Mississippi State’s proved that against teams that are actually decent, unlike the Tar Heels (with the exception of ECU).
The Bulldogs have held three of their past four opponents to 194, 157 and 263 yards. That includes LSU, now considered to be a top 5 team.
It doesn’t include Auburn, which rolled up &^%$&^%^% yards.
What was that? What did you say?
Auburn rolled up….589 yards on 83 plays.
Does that mean anything for Tech’s chances of leaving Starkville with a win?
Well, potentially, it could mean a lot.
The Tigers rushed for 390 yards with their version of the option.
But the Bulldogs seem to have gotten things fixed in time for last week’s game against LSU. The Tigers could only muster 30 yards on 31 carries. That’s the mostly same team that rushed for 161 yards against the Jackets in the Chick-fil-A Bowl last season.
——–
Because of technical errors, which I think are mine (new computer, new programs we are using) there was supposed to be a quote from Dan Voss in the notebook in Wednesday’s paper.
I asked him to talk about the routine of playing Saturday games, as compared to what Tech has been doing through the season’s first four games.
To paraphrase, he doesn’t mind a Thursday game or two, but enjoys Saturdays more for social and academic reasons. He said he likes to relax with friends and family on Sundays, something he couldn’t do the weeks of Thursday games because the team was practicing then.
He also said it makes a big difference in the classroom. Saturday games mean he doesn’t have to miss a lot of classes, nor does he have to miss review sessions, etc.

Doug, Why not be a little positive on Tech. Poor little Tech. This won’t be easy. You are playing MISSISSIPPI STATE. Why not talk about the good aspects of Tech that MS might have to worry about. Just tired of this “woe unto Tech” stuff.

It is hilarious to see the dilusional post by the Morans from UGAY. You know the SUC sucks and that you are one of the worst teams in the sorry AZZ conference. We own the SUC, look at our record last year against your sorry AZZ conference. We didn’t really focus against LSU because we deserved a much better bowl. Look how we stomped the rest of your conference. You only have one or possibly two decent teams this year. Alabama is your best and we could take them to the wood shed. Florida is a joke and plays no one. Yes I mean no one, they do play UGAY don’t they. Supports my comment. 45-42 hurts doesn’t it.

Yeah you deserved a better bowl, so you went and showed how you really deserved some respect by getting rolled up by a team with 5 losses. ROFLMAO!
You do realize you lost 3 conference games in the ACC, one to freakin VIRGINIA. You did go 2-1 against SEC teams, but one of them was MSU, who had the absolute worst coach in SEC history. You did beat UGA by 3, what dominance! Go through basketball season with 3 losses in conference, and you’ve done something. Hey the ACC is in the top 5 conferences in football, it’s not totally horrible.

I do feel sorry for the Mid majors who don’t get a BCS bid because a 3 or 4 loss ACC team gets a bid, and then loses (true to form) I know Va Tech managed to beat a Big east team last year, but didn’t that break an 8 game BCS losing streak for the ACC? I’d sure be running smack about the SEC if that were my conference.

Bad Dawg,

Perhaps you should call yourself STUPID Dawg for posting crap that is so stupid:

“You did go 2-1 against SEC teams, but one of them was MSU, who had the absolute worst coach in SEC history. ”

For your information, Sylvester Croom was not the worst coach in SEC history idiot! He was selected SEC Coach of the Year (2007) after the team went 8-5. Coach Orgeron (Ole Miss) was fired after winning 0 SEC games. And there are many other head coaches with overall losing records in the SEC. So if you don’t know what you are talking about, keep your STUPID mouth SHUT!!!!!!!

The Tech team and coaching staff would like to reassure our fans and alumni that we will be fine @ MSU on Sat. We’ve had an excellent week of practice, our reps were crisp and the enthusiasm remained high throughout. Auburn put up some lofty numbers and we will do our very best to come close to matching or exceeding them. Now if LSU beats the dawgs we should have a perfect weekend.

Tech needs to take EVERY team seriously! EVEN UF takes each game one at a time…leaving nothing to chance. They might lose a game, but they rebound and renew their focus along with their end of the year celebration of being number 1! We’ve lost our one game….now, we much renew our focus each week and play to our potential. THEN, maybe we’ll

wake up people Tech is playing the # 12 team in America. after all the worst SEC team is better than any other team in any other conference. we should just let the sec play with them selfs…that sounded funny but thats okay too. ….but the truth is they are two teams FLA & Bamma….and the rest are as soft as the any other conference . UGAy will wash out from here on in and so will LSU after this win, If Fla ever plays another decent team we can judge then .
Tech was shot out for the Miami game…three games in under two weeks…not enough time to recoup, shame on the AD for taking the Money at our players expense. Tech needs to play the rest of their games like they played the Tar Heels and things will be great….or was that a flash in the pan?

Tech…… For whom the bells toll.

It’ll be loud & physical. Tech better come with their heads on straight and their chinstraps snapped on tight. Those of you who are so dismissive should go ahead and start a rumor of the flu, or the team is really tired. It’s always best to have your excuse ready.

I love to see the we were really tired excuse, but since State was whooped by Auburn, our run D sucks. Your team can have a bad game, your opponents are judged by their one bad defensive performance, despite only giving up 63 yards rushing in the last 2 games.

GO DAWGS: OK, we get it – 7-1. Can you think of a new line? How about 7-3 the past ten years? Bobby Dodd went 8-0, still the record streak in the series. I wouldn’t brag about running up the score. That’s just a lack of class. Tech has more National Championships than Georgia. Tech players are also able to read and write. 45-42 against the underachieving Pre-Season #1 dawgs. Alabama wants to know when you having another Black-Out. You might as well just forfeit against the Gators each year.Woof, woof, dawgie.

Dawg (west) – We heard the same predictions before the UNC game. No excuses about the Miami loss, just facts. Tech played 3 tough games in 12 days and 4 in 21 days, 2 against nationally ranked teams, plus Clemson which some picked to win the ACC plus Jax State which nearly beat FSU who clobberred nationally ranked BYU. Also, Tech student-athletes actually have to go to class and study. This was a very rough schedule for any team. You may say the ACC is weak, yet the ACC won 6 of 10 against the SEC during the regular season last year icluding 45-42.

I think LSU was looking ahead last week to Georgia. Auburn handled Miss. State pretty well. This new coach is going to be a winner but I think he needs his own personel to pull it off. Tech had a freak showing in Miami because of a schedule of three games in a short span. Now both teams are coming off big games and are pretty even on rest. The one factor is home field advantage, which played some in last week’s almost upset, but Miss. St. couldn’t get them 4 inches in two plays at the goal line.

StingDoc

October 3rd, 2009

Ohmygod! Dawgies – go watch Sesame Street & watch “The Count” (”I Love to Count Things!”) since you obviously need 1st grade arithmetic lessons. Here we go:

Dates of Games: Jax State, 9/5-Sat; Clemson -9/10 Th, Miami – 9/17 Th, UNC – 9/26 -Sat.

Remedial Math Class for Dumb Dawgies: 9/5 to 9/6 =1 day, 9/7=2 days, 9/8=3, 9/9=4, 9/10=5, 9/11=6, 9/12=7, 9/13=8, 9/14 =9, 9/15 = 10, 9/16 = 11, 9/17 = 12 days.

SUMMARY: FROM JAX STATE ON 9/5 TO MIAMI GAME ON 9/17 =12 DAYS!!

It might be too much for your dawgie pea brains to handle, but if you continue counting to the UNC game, then you will see that Tech not only played 3 tough games in 12 days, but 4 tough games in 21 days, or 3 weeks. This plus the fact that Tech student-athletes, unlike the dawgies, actually have to go to class & study for real exams, made this a truly rough schedule as mentioned above – 2 ranked teams + Clemson some picked to win the ACC + Jax State which nearly beat FSU which walloped #9 BYU 54-28 on their field.

If we had played Miami on a regular Sat., I think we would have won.
