Dwyer, no worries

For those who have worried Jonathan Dwyer.

I wouldn’t worry too much. Coach Paul Johnson isn’t.

Dwyer, 2009: 168 yards, 5.6 yards a carry, 2 touchdowns

Dwyer, 2008: 250 yards, 6.4 yards a carry, 3 touchdowns

Now, also keep in mind that Dwyer has actually only played the equivalent of 2 games this season. He sat out just about all of the second half of the JSU game, and missed all of the second half of the Miami game.

Johnson said after Wednesday’s practice that the thing about Dwyer is his yards will come in bunches. Dwyer said earlier this week that he wasn’t worried, either.

So, there you go.

—————-

I asked Paul Johnson if there was a difference in a player’s mindset between starting a game, or coming off the bench.

He said he didn’t think so. 30 snaps are 30 snaps.

Two players, Sedric Griffin and Julian Burnett, said they thought there was a small difference.

That difference being after you’ve earned a starting job you want to keep it by doing the right things, the smart things, etc. When you are coming off the bench you try to go full-bore to get the coaches’ attentions. I interpreted that to mean that perhaps you play a bit more recklessley as you come off the bench and try to earn a starting position, than you do as a starter. But, I’d love to hear y’all’s thoughts on that.

GT got beat..plain and simple, but another game will be played and you will win again. Remember, UNC has a run defense ranked in the top 5 so don’t be surprised if GT struggles or even loses. You lose to good teams so you can learn to beat the great teams. That’s the beauty of college football. Anyone can win on any given night. Just ask USC or OK State or Ole Miss or Chokeloahoma or VT or BYU…I think you get my point. It was one game and if GT is any good, they will rebound to win just as quickly as they lost. Its 80 percent mental this early in the season.

superDawg asked: “macro how many national championships do you have.”

Answer: GT listed as NC in 1990, 1956, 1952, 1951, 1928, 1917 = 6 National Championships

There have been numerous 3rd party sports groups which have named national champions.

THE ONLY CONCENSUS, UNANIMOUS NATIONAL CHAMPION IN THIS STATE BETWEEN 1917 TO PRESENT WAS TECH IN 1917!! Georgia’s NC in 1980 was not consensus as many Dawgs claim. FSU, Pittsburgh, Oklahoma, and Nebraska were all named as NC’s by other 3rd parties IN 1980.

SAINT SIMONS = ha,ha,ha = Estimated age, 12!

This juvenile has made such brilliant comments as: “ ((((((((((33-17))))))))))))))))))” and “UNRANKED”

My response: [1] Tech is #26 & 27, [2] the polls don’t mean too much right now, [3] if Tech beats UNC, they will be ranked.

He followed with this insightful comment: “LOSERS”

My response: UGA & Tech each have one loss, don’t they?

Tech is better off unranked. They’re better off under the radar. Expectations are high on the flatts, and the best topping for that expectation is patience. Let the dominoes fall as they do. Those who over-inflate Tech’s stature in college football deserve to reap the rotten wheat that losses produce. There’s something special taking place down on The Flatts… if you can’t see it you’re either blind or lack the constitution required of a true Tech Man. Props to the success achieved by Paul Johnson so far. And here’s to those that wish him the opportunity to achieve the lofty goals he’s undoubtedly set for himself.

OK, I guess I am a little concerned when the coach says his offense is good. The games I have seen, discounting the gimmee, we have struggled. My feeling is that we can rush for 500 yards, if we don’t put points on the board it means nothing. People keep saying that our offense did well against LSU and several teams because of the total rushing yards. If you can’t score it’s all meaningless….. Just my 2 cents…

Maybe there are two really good football teams in the state of GA?

Lunatic ramblings ….

Need to move Jon D to A-Back full-time. Give him more space to work & THROW TO HIM SOME. Dive play isn’t going to work as long as opponents are willing to sell out & plug up the middle of the O-Line. And with Nesbitt’s passing, why not ?

Put in some receivers who can BLOCK. Get back the edge out on the edge. Nesbitt ain’t gonna hit them with passes anyway …..

There are not many states which can boast two such fine football teams over the many years since they started in the 1880’s and such a great, historic rivalry as Georgia can. I can think of Alabama, Texas [huge state], California [huge state], Florida [only since the 1960's], and Michigan. Can you think of any others?

Anybody that would say that GT’s schedule in 1990 was weak is either too stupid to pay any attention too (this is my guess) or too young to know anything about football in 1990.

Umm you didnt win the NC in ‘90 Colorado did. You won the UPI title which isnt valid and doesnt even exist anymore. Colorado won the AP poll and therefore is the only legit champ.

There’s no truth to it in the smallest of measure. I respect them, as a program and appreciate their coach. I only pull for their opponents when they’re from the ACC….THAT’S only because I grow weary of all the ACC is a joke crap. In truth, I enjoy the bantor, even when it gets childish. Frank Wren said: “Umm you didnt win the NC in ‘90 Colorado did.”

Try spell check which you obviously “didnt” use.

Tech was undefeated. Colorado lost one, tied one, and needed five downs to beat Mo., They lost to Illinois and Clemson demolished IL in the Gator Bowl. Tech beat Clemson 21-19. Nebraska was leading Colorado 6-0 until the 4th Qtr., and Tech beat Nebraska handily 45-21. Nebraska coach Osbourne said Tech was better than Colorado. Notre Dame should have beaten Colorado in the Orange Bowl but were given the game when a ref called a Phantom Clip on the Rocket’s punt return for a TD to keep the Co-NC in the Orange Bowl. Replays showed there was no clip. Virginia lost to SEC Champ Tennessee by only one point in the Sugar Bowl even though their Heisman candidate QB, Shawn Moore, had an injured throwing hand. Tech beat #1 UVA 41-38. The Cavs were not Champs of the ACC. Tech was. Yet SEC fans keep insulting the ACC even though the ACC won 6 of 10 vs. the SEC last year and has had more players players drafted by the NFL the past 3 years than the 12 team SEC [vs. 11 for the ACC].

Tech was selected as National Champions by 5 different selectors: UPI [The Coaches Poll which still exists under a different name], Sagarin Ratings and Dunkel Systems [two of the most objective since they are based on facts, statistics, and records, not geographical bias], Rothman (FACT) and NCF.

Georgia fans should understand that geographical bias has always hurt teams and players from the South and other regions in national voting polls such as he AP which is a key reason the BCS was started and many want an even better play-off system. Weren’t the Dawgs screwed recently and left out of a title game? The AP didn’t vote a Southern team as #1 until 1951 when Tennessee made it. It has also hurt Southern players contending for the Heisman through the years especially when contending with Big Ten players. I thought Archie Manning, Peyton Manning, and Joe Hamilton should have won among others.

Georgia Tech is recognized as a legitimate National Champion in 1990 by every sports authority and intelligent, unbiased sports fan . Where does that leave you, Frank Wren? Ummmm., as you would say.

Some people have forgotten that this is only CPJ second year….

Now unless I’m mistaken, Mark Richt, Urban Meyer(at UF), Pete Carroll (at USC), Mack Brown (at Texas), and Les Miles (at LSU) ALL HAD ATLEAST 1 CONFERENCE LOSS in their second year as head coaches.

Now I’m not saying that CPJ will be “Urban Meyer” (heck, Urban Meyer wasn’t “Urban Meyer” until he won a NC) but what I am saying is that it is ludicrous to say CPJ needs to be axed or that his offense needs to scraped

Great youtube of the 5 downs. The CO QB spikes it on 4th down w/ only about 3 sec. left & no time outs. I doubt that they could have gotten a decent play off in time to score.

The dawgie with various names [you don't fool anyone] who seems preoccupied with calling Tech men gay should come out of the closet since he was seen earlier tonight behind his trailer getting it on “dawgie style” with his first cousin Jeffro playing Deliverance music on their 45 record player to keep in rhythm while singing “Glory, Glory to Ole Georgia” and squealing like a pig.
