Nesbitt’s passing

First, some of you may have known that the Davey O’Brien Trophy folks are allowing people to vote as a component of their award. So, here’s the link: http://www.voteobrien.org/

And that brings us to today’s topic: Josh Nesbitt.

As yall know and I’ve proved many times in my rudimentary analysis of Tech, I enjoy football, but I’m not a coach.

Having said that, I thought Nesbitt looked very sharp in Saturday’s win.

He said afterward that he was very happy with his accuracy. The only pass that I can remember that looked similar to last year was the pass down the seam to Anthony Allen in the first half. Based upon the times I saw that route, or one similar to it in the spring, it’s a pass that Nesbitt and Shaw sometimes have trouble completing. I have no idea if that’s one of the more difficult ones to hit, perhaps any former QBs who read the blog can chime in.

He showed good touch on the TD pass to Allen later in the game. He underthrew Demaryius Thomas on the 56-yarder, but that’s not uncommon on a pass across the field.

But I thought he looked good in the pocket. He stepped through his passes and looked in control.

Now, it’ll be interesting to see the progress against Clemson, which likely will get more pressure on him than did the Gamecocks. Tech’s line didn’t allow a sack last week. If it keeps Nesbitt clean on Thursday, good things could happen for y’all.

And, it may need to. The Tigers had some success slowing down Tech’s running game last year, limiting the Jackets to 207 yards on the ground (I know that sounds odd, limiting…207 yards, but you know what I’m saying). The Jackets used two fumbles and four interceptions to win.

Mr blume, that first play did actually have a very large “D” mistake…the Jax coach called a blitz on that first play…but you are correct about four very nice blocks.

Perhaps Clem(p)son will guess wrong often Thursday. This game has large implications.

He apologized … He felt it was a proper usage of a collegial expression, Let him do the job, and stop worrying about Towers and Tucker and their allegiances, they have to live with how they report. It is not a fair comparison …

Not a fair comparison? They do the same job for different schools.

What makes me laugh is he says chip was not a fan yet there it is a photo of him proving otherwise. It’s one thing to make a mistake. It’s another to flat out lie. If he just changed it to tech and said i messed up, all would be forgotten. I have no issues with chip and tim being uga fans. My issue is doug saying they aren’t and his poor word choice.

What’s the deal with Tech students and manholes?

Does every Tech blog resort to talking about UGA?

Doug Roberson, I understand why you wouldn’t be a fan of Tech with all of this crap! We’re bickering over the word “ya’ll” and we SHOULD be focused on Clemson. Let it go! Nesbitt’s passing is going to add to, an already, potent offense! As long as we don’t give the ball away, we should be okay tomorrow night! GO TECH!!!

Please this “doug” topic has gotten boring. All he was doing was trying to inject a little humor into his blog. No foul taken on this end. Doug’s job is to give us the facts of the days as soon has he gets them not to pump up the fan base. Now that the season has begun, Doug has done a good job of reporting for our team.

One last thing and I am done.

Funny when you go on facebook and look at chips page several (at least 25)of his “friends” have uga apparel on or a icon that says uga or uga the dawg. he also lists larry munson which he’s a fan of(nothing wrong with that as i liked larry). and he also is a fan of the univ of georgia magazine.

but yeah he’s not a fan.

as for doug’s page. well there’s a few friends sporting uga attire. i’ve yet to see any tech stuff on there. he has a dog as his photo too. the dawg looks similar to a bulldawg. too funny doug.

maybe tomorrow you can tell us how we will struggle against clemPson’s defense.

Doug it is my opinion and only that, I literally am sorry that I brought it up though because to me it came off weird, I did not mean for it to blow up into this huge ordeal. Between trying to do work while thinking of the game tomorrow my mind is a little off today.

I agree though that this blog should be for GT sports not about dumb crap like that. Usually I am the one laughing at people who do that and today I am the laughed at.

Doug:
Don’t change your style of blogging for the few that want the “Fox News” version of Tech reports. All the positive with no blogging of anything negative. You’re doing a fine job and I hope that this doesn’t affect any of your future reports. I refuse to believe that most calling for you to be a fan are grown men/women.

FYI: Tech82 and Tech alum, Nesbitt was a 4-star recruit according to Rivals in 2006. He also had scholarship offers from GT, FLA, FSU, USCe, UCF and (drumroll please) uga (always wondered why he didn’t choose to attend uga when Green County is only a stone’s throw from Athens). I was always proud that he didn’t being a native of a neighboring county….Wilkes.

Keep of the good work, Doug. THWG!!!!

Guys, get several lives. This Roberson is supposed to be a journalist — the intro does say “beat writer,” you know. He ain’t supposed to have a rooting interest, no matter what those offended Techies claim. “Y’all” is perfectly acceptable. Unless you glome on to “youse guys.” God, the things that offend football fans.

The line for the game has moved to +5 for Clem’s Son. This is not good news for CU maybe Spiller isn’t 100%. Our big factors are as we all know is Nestbit and Dwyer. Beyond that Paul J is the better, proven coach. I’m thinking that Paul J’s coaching adjustments wins a close one for GT. 34 to 31 GT.

One of MANY MANY things I always despised about Larry Munson was that he always referred to the team on the field as “we” and “us.” I never heard Ceraldo do that, nor have I ever heard Durham do that. A supposed JOURNALIST, whether a newspaper one or a play-by-play announcer should not be a cheerleader. I want and admire objectivity, and I see that in Doug’s work. I don’t care if he says “y’all” or “those guys” or simply “Tech” or “the Jackets.” As long as he reports facts and doesn’t do it in a way that demeans the people he is writing about or talking to, he is ok in my book. Someone mentioned Furman Bisher; I don’t think anyone could ever claim that he was a Tech fan (he was definitely a UNC fan), but that never stopped (hasn’t stopped) him from writing great articles. The fact that Doug apparently respects and admires Bisher, and possibly emulates him, speaks volumes about Doug. Keep up the good work, Doug. I for one have no complaints.

Clemson’s coach thought his offense looked very good against Middle Tennessee. He sounds like a cheerleader for his squad. That’s a fatal mistake, just ask Jim Donnan. They didn’t look good to me. The freshman quarterback’s passes were on target. Many were dropped. There running game was pitiful. Morgan Burnett will have a field day like last year. TECH’s defense will eat the freshman quarterback alive. The game won’t be a runaway but TECH should handle them easily.

Who cares! I’ve never heard any announcer or writer be postive about any Atlanta team! At least they can’t say I told you so if they win! GT fans are the most loyal sports fans! They don’t cut the scoreboard off if they are behind! They don’t file out of the stadium before the game is over! They don’t put the score in the media guide as a tie when they lose! Nesbit will be a great quarterback! May even remind people of Hamilton! Win or lose, you’re gonna have to contend with these guys for at least two more years because they are young and talented. Clemson has always reminded me of Georgia! Plenty of talent but lack character and Heart. I have no doubt that Nesbit is gonna light them up! JD will have his game face on too and the ten to twelve sets of legs that will keep him fresh! A freshman QB against Tech’s defense is what you need to be talking about! Spiller? Has he ever shown up? Potential does not always equal success! A 37-17 win and PJ is not happy! These guys will come to play and execute and it won’t matter who is across the line from them. Its a system and an attitude and PJ has one and he don’t like to lose. A QB with a 147 yards passing and 93 0n the ground? What’s to question? Please don’t forget that these guys were 3-1 against the almighty SEC last year! Nesbit is gonna flourish, JD might contend for the Heisman, and these guys might not lose! I believe in the Ramblin Wreck!

To me, more important the Nesbit looking good in the passing game was his misreads in the option game in the third quarter. I was not able to watch it, but I’ll take PJ’s word on it. If he cannot get that fixed it does not matter what he does in the passing game.

Honestly Doug, I don’t know how you can handle writing for Tech. If I were a UGA grad, I certainly couldn’t do the same. I wouldn’t be a beat writer for UGA for 250k a year.

The problem folks, there is no journalism major at Georgia Tech. There is no way to major in civil engineering and have a minor in journalism as far as I know….ha. So, no matter what we are going to be stuck with a journalist from another school. However, the AJC could do a better job of hiring someone from outside….you don’t have to have a UGA grad writing about Tech. Surely there are some other journalism schools in the southeast where a writer would love the oppurtunity to step up to the plate and make a little more money in the Atlanta market.

Again….Doug’s intro-

I think Nesbitt will have a great year. He understands the offense now and that can only translate into a successful season. He looked pretty good against JSU except for the seam route. Hopefully he’ll get that worked out because that’s going to be a big play for us all season. BayBAy is just too good not to throw to him. Hill has a chance to be just as good (I hope). CPJ has no reason not to open this offense up and let these kids run wild. I think they put up a lot of points this year. It should be exciting. GO JACKETS!!!!!
