Day 10, part I, in the books

Well, the first part of the second (and last) of the two-a-days is in the books.

Man, what a difference 10 degrees in temperature makes.

Coach Johnson said he was happy with the tempo and effort of the practice, which was 18 periodslong  compared to the usual 24.

We’ll see if the weather stays as nice for the second session, scheduled to start at 5:15.

On to the highlights:

Backup quarterbacks David Sims and Tevin Washington made several good throws in the scales drill, with Sims connecting on three consecutive pretty passes. Washington hit Zach Fisher in the 7-on-7s with a pretty deep pass. Johnson said after practice that he thought Washington was making good progress.

Josh Nesbitt made two very solid throws down the field into the corner during the same drills.

Redshirt freshman defensive tackle T.J. Barnes (more on him in Sunday’s paper) had some reps with the first-string defensive line. Asked about that afterward, Johnson said that Jason Peters had tweaked something, so Barnes was getting some time.

Freshman defensive back Rod Sweeting broke up another pass in the drills.

On the beach today were Jordan Luallen (boot off, but still on crutches), Jaybo Shaw (he returned to Rose Bowl field after sustaining a concucssion), Nick Claytor (back), Dominique Reese (hamstring), Brad Sellers (concussion), Daniel McKayhan and Stephen Hill (who returned to the field later in the day).

Austin Barrick returned to the land of the playing.

More after today’s afternoon practice.

Glad to see Tevin is stepping it up, given the concussion issue that is aflicting Jaybo. Also, maybe TJ Barnes will want to keep his place with the first team even when Jason Peters returns. Nice to hear the passing game is going better. Thanks for the information Doug. Also, is the Claytor back problem still an issue even after the surgery? Or is this a different back injury? Hopefully this isn’t becoming a chronic situation. Thanks for the updates.

DUH-WYER is just another GT p**** b**** who tweaks his wittle hip muscle after being brushed by a FLY. He will probably miss much of the season and will not be very effective when he is in, as that is an injury that will linger all year. Too bad for the bugs! They can only hope that the great PEE JAY will be able to plug one of his tiny 1AA superstars in there and they won’t miss a beat! hahahahahaha GO DAWGS! GATA

Doug;

I realize that you try not to act like a high school monitor, but when will enough of this nonsense be enough for you guys?

Would you like a reasonable suggestion? How about deleting ALL of the posts that have nothing to do with the blog? That way, no one would be able to complain about being sensored or picked on by the AJC. Take them ALL off if they aren’t discussing your topic.

That should make things easy to police and, hopefully, get some of these whackos off of your site and let the blog be used for its intended purpose.

My point, Doug, is that you control the blog as your sports-related-only blog, and any of the non-related comments can, and should, be removed, regardless of who makes them, end of story.

If the topic is talking about “TECH, Day 10, part I, in the books,” then the posts should only be about GA Tech and its football program leading up to the new season, based on your blog. Anything else that is remotely off-base or controversial should be deleted.

Insider, I’m afraid it’s a lost cause. Both blogs (uga’s and Tech’s) turn into nothing but the same childish drivel every time. The AJC won’t do anything about it which is why the people who come to these blogs for good dialogue will slowly fade out and let the children have their playground. Again, it’s on both blogs.

GT Insider, no worries bud. These guys won’t be on here after UGA starts the season 1-3 and/or possibly worst. But, they will then come back acting like LSU fans or something of the sort. I have no clue why it matters to them so much about our stadium size, attendance records, ticket packages, etc. They are indeed sad individuals that make the school that they associate themselves with look bad.

GA Tech Insider, lighten up. No offense, but you’re beginning to sound like a hall monitor. Just don’t read the ’silliness’. Fun comes in different shapes and sizes….say what you have to say….respond to the ones that you feel the need to respond to….it’s THAT simple! In response to these practices; sounds like CPJ is shaping our team up to be the winners we’ve always known they could be! COME ON SEASON!!! For the record, I believe that a lot of the silliness will disappear once the games are played!!! GO TECH!!!!

is…pre season…guessing? Making silly predictions? Or in some cases, just being silly. I agree with macro, just be selective. In the case of complaining about silliness, that may just add even more….just saying…
Being from NC, ACC talk is normally NC schools and the AJC is about the only easy to get Tech info. But the silly stuff just rolls downhill like other stuff that rolls downhill. No problem.

The AJC needs to go back to making users register to read and post on the blogs. The current format requires an E-mail address, but you can just make one up, it doesn’t verify the address. If the intention was to have more open forums on the blogs and bring in more readers, it has backfired, to the silliness you now see.
