Day 8, part I, in the books

Well, the first half of the first two-a-day is done. The players will be back out in four hours or so.

Coach Johnson said overall he wasn’t pleased with the team’s effort. He was pleased with how Scott Blair kicked the ball at the end of the day, though. Blair went 4-for-4 from various spots on the field.

Because of injuries to Jaybo Shaw and Jordan Luallen, Josh Nesbitt, Tevin Washington and David Sims took most of the snaps. The defensive line looked very active in the 11-on-11 portion.

To answer a question from yesterday, I think the offense looks better from the first day. The coaches have indicated the same.

I’m going to keep this one short, and will come back with more after the second portion.

what is 38-3? What is chicken bowl? I can’t understand the Troy and GA Southern recruit reference either. 7-1 is a reference I assume to the UGA streak that just ended. Speak english Cuz in Minnesota or go cheer for the Gophers.

Doug, so is the punting role going to be determined by two walk on players? Good to see Blair just doing the place kicking as opposed to doing both this season. Thanks for the updates.

Cuz, you are beginning to seem a little obsessive with your blogging about GT football. Give it a rest, dude. We all are aware that you uncovered GT’s secret to having a roster of guys not targeted by the football factories of the land. What’s your point? I for one, like the idea of being an underdog, an overlooked talent, a diamond in the rough, etc. Nobody give a rats azz about your 5* recruits except for rivals and scout. You have spent your entire weekend worrying about GT’s roster and the stars they were giving coming out of High School. Wow, you must have one exciting life. I would love to have more 2 and 3 star recruits like Vance Walker 2*, Roddy Jones 3*, Cooper Taylor 3*, Marcus Wright 3*, Bebe Thomas 3*, Sedric Griffin 2*, and Andrew Gardner 2*.

Cuz decided to go back to 6th grade this year after failing to complete his 08 studies. The good new Cuz is once you complete 6th grade you’ll be ready to attend UGA! That’s normally as much as they require from their recruits!

and that bastion of higher learning known as The Georgia Institute of Technology (aka, Georgia Tech, aka The North Avenue Trade School) #,

The problem with Tech last was that there was nothing to base the progress of the team on. They played a lousy schedule and, as it turns out, did not play any quality teams during the regular season. Then they run into a good team in LSU & get smacked.

Question for Johnson – how does he guage how good his teams are?

Have you seen GT’s adds trying to sell season tickets on the AJC? It actually says “2008 ACC Champs”. What? They tied for their division of the ACC and lost the tie-breaker to advance to the championship game. The championship game was VT vs. BC (I think 10,000 or so people showed up). What a joke of a program that must use half-truths about being champs of their conference in an attempt to sell tickets. Shouldn’t you just have put co-coastal division chumps who didn’t make it to the championship game? 2008 ACC Champs – as if!!! Losers.

Georgia Tech freshman basketball player Kammeon Holsey, who suffered a torn anterior cruciate ligament in his right knee while playing basketball on August 1, will undergo surgery to repair the ligament Tuesday and miss the 2009-10 season.

They wrote the story, so call them idiots.

Again, I really hope “Cuz” is a Tech guy just trying to make us look very, very bad.

As I see it, special teams will most likely be your achilles heal. If you can get that sorted out before September, that would be a major step for you guys.

I think your D will be fine, with your secondary being be very good. The offense should be explosive.

Special Teams is the wild card.

Oh, and that study was based on the students’ point of view, not academics….Wabash, Centre, Salem, etc. were all in the Top 30….hardly bastions of higher education. If we are going to flame, let’s do it on a factual basis.

Ok, continue on “Cuz”.

Bankerdawg, you sir are welcome here anytime. It is too bad this blog has been hijacked by a bunch of spazes like Saint Simons and Cuz. I come here to actually talk football and all it turns out to be is a pissing match at a middle school. You are right that special teams will make or break us this year. …of the most respected business periodicals in circulation lists west Point as the # 1 college in the land, while GT is #501. Snd , some of you want to dismiss it as not being meaningful, even a UGA guy who goes by BankerDawg. All I know is that from what I read it was based on significantly more than students opinion (that would be the Princton Review, for the most part – the “happiest students” – really). So, I will go with Forbes anyday, with GT #501 – HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA

Dear Erik,
I’ve seen it from the field and in the stands. You enjoy claiming that your lack of passion is due to “class”. The issue we have with our fans is when we are out there on the field standing up for GT we’ve got you sitting on your hands. Stand up and be a “real” fan. There is a reason why our fight song has those words!

How about earning potential rankings at Time Magazine and PayScale.com…. Looks like a UGA grad is losing over $20,000 a year every year to their GT grad bosses.
For top earning potential in the South (GT #3 ……..UGA #41)
