How accurate has this been in past years? I’d like to see if there’s a higher correlation between this kind of poll and the rest of the media preseason polls.

And VT better look out this year. Georgia Tech’s players will be super motivated for that game.

Huh?

Ha! ACC is a joke and all Tech fans should be shot.

Can the ACC envision what it would be for GT and NCSU or Clemson playing for the ACC champ in Charlotte…this year? (note that would be an outside game where real teams play to be the champ!)

G-Tech vs V-Tech could be a great game, but it won’t mean much if the Jackets don’t get out to a fast start by beating Clemson & Miami in those back-to-back ESPN Thursday nite games.

I get so tired of all of the VT hype… They beat, oh wow, mighty cincinatti in the orange bowl. Round of applause. They still had four losses just as GT did, and the head-to-head matchup last year went down to the wire. Both schools finished the season strong (minus the egg in the chick-fil-a bowl which turnovers killed us) and GT returns more starters this year and the offense should be twice as potent. AND the GT-VT game is in atlanta this year. GT’s defensive line will suprise a lot of people. Last year’s was overrated. D-Mo is a beast, Robert Hall will be a lot more effective than people think, and Ben Anderson and Jason Peters are high intensity players to make up for their somewhat lack of size. If TJ can step up and take a starting role, then it will fill the gaps. Secondary is going to be sick. So i think GT should get just as much credit for a preseason favorite to win the conference. The ONLY thing VT has going for them is winning a BCS bowl, but oh wait, I think half of the ACC could have won that game.

Looks like everyone is giving Virginia Tech the pre-season accolades which is just fine. Personally, I like the fact that we will be flying under the radar screen again this year. In fact, after the Hokies beat Bama in the Chick Fil A Classic, they will be receiving even more support in advance of their trip to face us at Bobby Dodd after last year’s gift in Blacksburg. Go to isportsweb.com to read more postings about the Jackets for the upcoming football season. Go Jackets

Cuttysark- I agree, I vented on how much crediit VT is recieving, but if they beat bama they will be a top 5 team when they come to atlanta, and a win for GT would shoot our BCS rating sky high (that is if we can win out).

JACKETfan – I agree that that the D-line was overrated last year. They had their moments, but there was a little too much hype. The secondary and linebackers will make up for any drop in the D-line. And VT still needs to prove that their offense isn’t a joke. T. Taylor running around throwing ugly passes reminds me of a recent QB that played on the flats – which is easy for a good defense to shut down.

listen to some of the different coachs on http://www.theacc.com

Duke’s coach just stated the team expect a bowl game this year.

Coach PJ was cool as usual. Coach Beamer was asked about being the preseasons favorite in the conference and which he replied in a modest tone.

Well, Mr Beamer you have to earn that trophy first. You have to come to Tech! That’s Georgia Tech. “Go Jackets!”

Dear Huh? Relax.

You’ve already got a LOCK on a #3 National Ranking for 2009.

Thats…the #3 Party school in the country…according to the new Princeton Review just out. I guess that goes with having a 65% Female Undergraduate enrollment ratio. I guess the other 35% are the “student-athletes.”

What do you expect from a “university” that offers Fashion Merchandising as a Major.

I guess we can assume from this #3 ranking, that UGA also has the #3 ranking in degrees offered in Womens Studies, where requirements include courses in “Eco-Feminism” and “Lesbian & Gay Studies.”

Here’s how the ACC will likely play out:

ACC-Atlantic:
Winner of Clemson-NCST game will be ACC-A winner.
Forget FSU. They wont have the near talent like 2008 to do it in 2009.
Proof will come when Miami SMOKES FSU in the very first game.

ACC-Coastal:
I lost count how many “bullets” VT dodged last year. They wont be so lucky in 2009. I predict VT loses these 4 ACC games: GT, Miami, UNC, and NCST. VT lost to Miami in 2008 the weekend before GT DESTROYED Miami, and “lucky” wins vs. GT & UNC also in 2008.

Winner of GT-UNC in game in early Sept will likely decide ACC-Coastal winner. Thats how big the GT-UNC game in Atlanta will be. It’ll be OVER for VT by the time they play GT in Atlanta in October.

Last year I predcited that there was NO WAY VT was gonna play: at BC, at FSU, and at Miami over 4 weeks and win all 3. In fact, THEY LOST ALL 3.

Huh?

“I get so tired of all of the VT hype… They beat, oh wow, mighty cincinatti in the orange bowl. Round of applause.”

I get so tired of arrogant Techies thumbing their noses at programs that crap bigger than Georgia Tech football. Virginia Tech won a bowl game last year, something the Joke by Coke has failed to do in nearly 5 effing years. Not only that, but Virginia Tech was playing in a BCS bowl game, something the Joke by Coke has failed to do in its entire miserable history. Yes, round of applause please for the Techies. They did so much better in their bowl game last year didn’t they?

Georgia Tech football fans=the biggest joke on the face of the planet. End of discussion.

Jaded Jacket, its called “preseason”, it’s just a prognostication, like the voting on who will win.

How about this, from ESPN.com…” Georgia Tech’s Jonathan Dwyer is the first ACC Player of the Year to seek a repeat of the honor since FSU’s Charlie Ward in 1993. Ward not only repeated as POY, but he also won the Heisman Trophy en route to the national championship that season.”

I’d say the same turn of events for Dwyer & the Jackets will be excellent.

The Jackets will lose to Clemson and Miami this year, mark it down. I know that sounds crazy on paper, but both of those teams are kind of under the radar and both have talent. I do think Tech will beat Va. Tech though. North Carolina, Wake Forest, Florida State, Vandy, and UGA are all toss ups. I’m saying the Jackets will finish 8-4 maybe 9-3 with a shot at a double digit win season if everything falls into place.

I agree that the UNC game is going to be tough. They have a very big defensive line, and our o-line will have to step up to win this game. Miami and Clemson have not been well-coached, VT is overrated (but we will have to contain Tyrod), and FSU is not what it was. Wake Forest also scares me a little, because they are very well-coached. Folks, we are deeper this year, but not so deep that we can survive key injuries. Let’s hope and pray our key players stay healthy.

Go Jackets!!

VT deserves the title, “King of the Hill”….GT is gonna have to knock them off and maintain a posture at the top….GONNA BE A GREAT SEASON!!! Huh?, say what you want, but we ALL know that you’re fixated on the ACC! WHY else would you bother posting? Not to mention the obvious fact that every day you wake up, your first thought is filled with absolute rage regarding your pups loss to the Jackets! Adding to that ire, is the fear you seem to have that the tides have changed and your pups will become an annual ‘W’ for the Jackets….your life is over! GO TECH!!!!

The Dawgs and the Yellow Jackets have to date met 95 times on the football field, with the Bulldogs leading the 107-year-old series, 53-36-5. In 2002, Georgia hosted Georgia Tech and boasted its largest margin of victory in the series, 44 points. During the rivalry, Georgia has compiled a winning record in 8 of the 11 decades, including the past four decades.

The only thing you should do is bury your head in the quagmire you call athens and hope for the best next year (and SHUT UPPPP)
