I’ll be heading to the ACC kickoff outside Greensboro, N.C. this weekend. The event is Sunday and Monday, with players on Sunday and coaches on Monday.
So, I thought I’d open up the floor to you.
What questions would you like asked of the coaches. I can’t guarantee I’ll get a chance, but I’ll try to ask the most relevant questions of the coaches that you submit, and then come back with a few answers.
Also, since some of you have emailed asking about the new season-ticket group that Georgia Tech hired, I thought I’d give you some updates.
First, 25,265 season tickets have been sold, compared to 23,900 last season. The new group, which has been up and running for about 10 days, has sold 138 packages that have generated about $51,000 in revenue, according to Wayne Hogan, Tech’s associate ahtletics director.
That’s it for now. I should be back next Wednesday as we hit the home stretch before practice starts on Aug. 3.

I have a kid at FSU close to Defensive Coordinator Mickey Andrews’ family. Evidently he is obsessed with stopping CPJ’s offense. Time is devoted almost every day in practice. They consider Tech a key to their season.

What has been done during the off season to improve line play on both sides of the ball, I’m speaking in particular of how they looked so over powered against LSU?

Doug you are doing fine. There are people in this world that complain about everything and now have the internet to dump their mental illnesses on the rest of us. My question: this is maybe the most talented group of athletics CPJ has ever coached in his coaching career. Is there some things he is trying with this group that he may have thought up looking at the talent that he had never tried before? I wonder once you have bought in on an offense or whatever coaches buy into years earlier is there a revision period as time marches on or is it execution they try to get better. I kind of wonder if Calvin Johnson had been at Tech how CPJ would have handled him. CJ picked Tech more than Tech recruited CJ thinking he was unapproachable. I understand it shocked Gailey when Calvin called asking about the program. The man wanted an education and to be close to home, imagine that.

“Goodword, not sure how you can think I, or anyone else, at the AJC are just going through the motions. But, if that’s the way you feel, I’m tired of arguing with yall about it.”
How ’bout the one column you write in a eek, and it appears you didn’t put much thought into it. Yet we get daily updates from that goober Bill the UGAg blogger, the Rev. is tired of talking about where the Florida beatdown will happen, Joe’s little Cox, and every other trivial factoid from Eastern Ga. Cow College. Yea, it’s called going through the motions.

Has Jaybo been able to build strength and body size this off-season? (I remember a coupe of times where he was one-handed tackled by D-linemen.)

There are at least forty thousand GT fans that care,as shown by sellouts in the ghetto. When GSU gets up and running techs fan base will be major decline.Empty seats means no money for CPJ and his staff.Bill Curry will reap the rewards you can bet on it Nerds.

Of course ticket sales are up, they are always up in odd number years, The UGA fans buy season tickets at Tech so they can watch the UGA-GT game there and its cheaper to buy season tickets at GT than to buy 1 ticket for a game at Sanford Stadium when you break down the costs. A couple of other minor factors that are driving ticket sales do include increased optimism in the program and the fact that they dropped so many fans last year due to priority seating process and some are starting to come back. I dont think this new company will increase revenues by itself but hopefully it is controlling the cost for GT. I am a Georgia fan but I pull for Tech to stay a strong factor in football until the end of November, Money drives these programs and tech is losing money in athletics so hopefully this new company helps.

I would also like to know what player on defense might be the big surprise this season.
I have also heard about FSU devoting time in every upcoming practice to Ga Tech offense. It should do some good but if they don’t find some linebacking depth they can practice all they want.
Does CPJ consider the U. Iowa the strongest football team in America? Might be a stupid question, but I just read an article that made that claim. By strong I mean weight room and conditioning strong.

GT didn’t receive a ring for beating UGA last year. GT received a ring for being Co- Champs of the Coastal Division and was asked what they wanted inscribed on it and decided to inscribe the score of the UGA game.

the ACC is not even on the national radar since FSU amd Miami have stooped to the rest of the teams abilities. Just look at your TV packages, your little stadiums. The SEC gave out 1,000 media credentials, will the acc approach 200?? Really, nobody cares about the ACC. Look at your championship game, what a joke.

Biggie, you are small huh? Who cares how big your SEC media day is. Remember how those small ACC schools beat up on those mighty mighty SEC schools last year (LSU excluded). Size doesn’t matter…or in your case, maybe it does.
