LOL at some of this stuff. The folks who say that GT recruits different players than UGA are living in a fantasy world. Michael Lemon, the only UGA player who has had any major legal trouble chose UGA over GT. If GT could get some of these guys that go to Clemson, Bama, etc that get into trouble, they would have got them because they offered them scholarships. If you don’t believe, me check rivals. The feud here is funny because GT fans think CPJ is the greatest thing ever after a 9-4 season and UGA is now “struggling” after a 10-3 season. Fact is, every single GT fan would have taken a win over UGA last year in Week 12 over a UVA over VT win. Even though a UVA win puts GT in the ACCCG. Just a different culture, UGA has been to and won BCS games and GT hasn’t even been to one. When they get close, like last year, they still are only obsessed with beating UGA. The difference here is obviously that UGA plays for rings. GT can sit here and say they will only get better under CPJ, but 9-4 is about what you will get from him. He is much more like Jim Donnan than Jim Tressel.

Oh, pups. You keep getting on the Tech blog, and rant about terrorists, shootings, 1 in the last 8 years. I’ll give you three exhibits for those in glass houses throwing stones:

i) Musa’s Smith’s dad ran terrorist training camps

ii) UGA professor, George Zinkhan, murders three (that’s three more than Tech professors)

iii) Paul Johnson, 1-0 & Mark Richt, 0-1

But aw shucks, “even a blind squirrel finds a nut”, right Bubba? Here’s another cliche. Hey, I’ll tell you what. You can get a good look at a butcher’s a** by sticking your head up there. But, wouldn’t you rather to take his word for it?

Hmm, outstanding, well though out diatribe, Jeff. But your gonna wish you could beat Tech rather than Florida in the years to come. By the way, check the last time Jim Tressel played CPJ, or Mark Richt for that matter. Dog fans, it’s like you need a 12 step program, the first step to overcome is denial.

Doug,
So the wolf position appears to be nothing but a 3rd safety based on the size/speed of the guys listed. Looks more like they have a 4-2 with 3 at safety. Do we not have enough LBs to play a real 4-3?? Are we so deep at safety that they’d rather put 3 of them on the field?? I am curious to know how they’ll line up.

It’s funny when Georgia beats Tech its about the here and now. But when Tech beats Georgia its about the history of the series. Well heres some history, who has more National Championships??????

I know its hard to count so I will just go ahead and do it for you 4 to 1. Punk Azz’s

George P. Burdell

You are right Bryan. It would actually do UGA fans a lot of good for Tech to start winning. Then, they could talk about all-time series records instead of last year’s game for both us and Florida. Sure, they wouldn’t like to lose to us, but at least that way they would be consistant on what they regard as important.

The wolf position is a hybird safety/linebacker.

The UGA professor also killed himself, so that threat is gone. How many muggers are still on the streets at Tech treatening students and the public alike?

Paul Johnson is 1-1 vs UGA (1-0 vs Richt); Richt is 7-1 vs GT (O-1 vs PJ) – but don’t let a good cliche’ get in the way of the facts.

The terrorist student from Tech just got convicted – but at least he is in jail.

Has Reuben Houston been released from jail yet? (Yes, I know he has – and he was allowed to return to play at GT, too).

How’s that Joe Hamilton working out as a coach for you guys?

Actually....

July 10th, 2009

…the Wolf linebacker and the outside linebacker are the same position, with the Wolf guy designated to go to either the strong or weak side depending upon down and distance and formation (that is why they differentiate with the “wolf” designation rather than “strong side” (or, as other teams call them the SAM backer) or “weak side” (WILL linebacker). So, no, he is not a safety.

1. I love that UGA fans are on this blog. It shows that they are worried.
2. I use my real name when posting. Coahed HS ball for over 20 years. I actually called the plays. I bet you little dawgie guys didn’t.
3. GT needs to develope depth to consistently challenge UGA. Seems that we are headed in that direction.
4. Morgan Burnett will be a first team All American in 2009.
5. Who knows who will win the GT-UGA game in 2009? I know that I like GT’s chances.
6. Paul Johnson is an impressive coach.

Georgia Tech is the best college FB team in history of football. We have one 1 conference championship in the last 40 years, How many conference championships have you idiot UGAg teams won. We have been to 0 major bowls/BCS bowls how many have you UGAg teams been to since 1970? Also we have been to the Sillicon Valley bowl, Emerald Bowl, Seattle bowl and Blue turf bowl, how many times has UGAg been to one of these bowls the last 40 years. Until your team has these credentials don’t bother to post your weak response to our tradition.

I agree, Mr. Casey – Morgan Burnett is a stud (at least based on what I saw last year – reminded me of myself many, many years ago), and if he can continue with that intensity and playmaking ability he will indeed be a consensus AA!

Special Teams

July 10th, 2009
11:37 am

I think that Scott Blair can handle both jobs. The problem is that Tech spends very little time actually practicing special teams work which is why they weren’t very good last year or in the spring. I can undertand that they were introducing a new offense and defense and needed to spend the time last year and this spring practicing it. But special teams aren’t going to get any better unless they practice it. Being and old kicker and punter you can do them both. But practice is required as a lot of it is timing. They keep changing long snappers and holders which is the worse thing they can do. Pick a long snapper and holder and practice.

IGNORE THE DAWGS

July 10th, 2009
11:44 am

I say from here on out we begin to IGNORE DAWG FANS. The only reason they are here is to bait us and we fall for it every single time.

Let’s start now. Talk about the blog itself. Don’t talk about UGA vs Tech. If they make a comment act like you didn’t see it. They’ll eventually go away if you don’t respond.

Paul Johnson

July 10th, 2009
1:16 pm

I think we should have Tevin Washington ahead of Jaybo shaw. He’s a better athlete and outshined Shaw in the spring. Also who’s gonna return punts and kicks? that is a bigger question. No way Scott Blair should handle the field goals. He is a much better punter. Id like to see someone else kick field goals.

Paul Johnson

Yes reality check, UGA has a much better tradition with all those national titles they’ve won since 1981. And their record vs florida is glimmering. They’ve owned the gators in recent years specially after Nov 1 2008. They scored 10 pts. Then they lost their 4th game vs Georgia Tech in the last 11 years.
What tradition! I think espn ranked UGA 16 overall three spots ahead of Tech for the last decade.

Let's Go Bravos!

July 10th, 2009

I’ll have to agree with Reality Check! THe Dawgs don’t even compare to Tech when it comes to football programs. They have only won 22 more games in the overall series between us. Well we won last year! HA! They have only won 12 SEC championships in their history and we have 2 ACC championships! We are by far the superior team!

Coach Paul Johnson you are right. I would not trade our Sillicon Bowls, Peach Bowls, Emerald Bowl, Humanitarian Bowls for any of UGA’s five Sugar Bowls or Cotton Bowl since 1981. They have lost to Florida that kind of makes it feel better that we have lost 7/8 this decade to UGAg.

I was sitting at my first Tech game last year against Virginia (Homecoming I might add) and I was thinking, “Wow, I wish I was a Tech fan, because I could actually come to a game and not be so crowded in the stands and can actually stretch out my legs!” But then I remembered that I enjoy watching good football games, so I’ll stick to going to games that have over 92,000 fans with hardly any room to move around!! Go Dawgs!!
