Georgia State will host ECU on Monday

Georgia State will try to win its fourth consecutive game when it East Carolina at 7 p.m. Monday at the Sports Arena.

The Panthers (3-2) are 16-3 at home at “Hunterville” since coach Ron Hunter took over the program before the 2011-12 season.

“When I got to Georgia State, I made it publicly known that I wanted to make the Sports Arena one of the toughest places to play,” Hunter said in a statement given to the media. “To be successful in college basketball, you have to defend the home court and split on the road. So far we have been able to do that.

“I think one of the reasons we have been able to gain some success at home has been our crowds. They have been loud and really given us a great home court advantage.”

Georgia State is asking fans to wear white to the game.

The Panthers will host Louisiana Tech on 7 p.m. Friday to finish the five-game homestand.

East Carolina will be a tough test for the Panthers. The Pirates are undefeated (4-0) and averaging 79.2 points per game.

It was nice to see Atkins shooting well on Wednesday. Hope to see the Hunterville crew out in force.

Happy for GSU. There’s something exciting about programs on the rise. That goes for bball and fball.

What’s GSU average attendance at home?

Time to hand ECU their first loss. Manny goes off again tonight and Solomon posterizes their whole team!

@Auburn Grad last season the average was 1,450.

Three games into this season it is at 1,084, but all three games were during the Thanksgiving break.

I am guessing the attendance will be around 1800-2000 tonight.

Years of bad basketball coupled with a terrible arena attribute to those low numbers despite the recent success. I believe nothing short of a deep NCAA tourney gets that attendance up to anything respectable in the foreseeable future. Which sucks because this is a very fun team to watch.

The arena isn’t terrible, but hopefully the Board of Regents, that gave GSU Village to Tech, gives us McCamish in return. Seems fair.

First game for me tonight. Ga State graduate from 15 years ago. I have to see first hand what all this hype is about. Let’s go Panthers!

@Tonight

Sorry you had to see this game as your first, this team will be really good. However, they are a really young team and seem to have some real issues rebounding. Our coach Ron Hunter is awesome and is the reason there is hype around this team.

Go to PantherTalk . Com and you can usually find tickets to future games from some of us that cannot make certain games.

Cheers!
