Cheryl Levick has signed a five-year contract extension to remain as Georgia State’s athletic director.
The extension, which was completed Tuesday, goes into effect July 1 earlier this year. The financial terms weren’t disclosed.
Levick has had a busy tenure since coming to Georgia State in 2009 after three years as executive senior athletic director at Maryland.
She spearheaded the construction of the new practice facility for football, as well as the move from the Colonial Athletic Association to the Sun Belt Conference.
Levick is currently in the middle of a search to replace Bill Curry as football coach. He is retiring from coaching after the season, which has been a struggle. Not only is the team having issues on the field with a 1-7 record, its attendance has declined for the second consecutive year.
She hired Ron Hunter last year to lead the men’s basketball program. He led them to a 22-12 record last year.
The athletics department is also trying to raise capital to renovate the Sports Arena and replace Panthersville.
