Levick signs contract extension at Georgia State

Cheryl Levick has signed a five-year contract extension to remain as Georgia State’s athletic director.

The extension, which was completed Tuesday, goes into effect July 1 earlier this year. The financial terms weren’t disclosed.

Levick has had a busy tenure since coming to Georgia State in 2009 after three years as executive senior athletic director at Maryland.

She spearheaded the construction of the new practice facility for football, as well as the move from the Colonial Athletic Association to the Sun Belt Conference.

Levick is currently in the middle of a search to replace Bill Curry as football coach. He is retiring from coaching after the season, which has been a struggle. Not only is the team having issues on the field with a 1-7 record, its attendance has declined for the second consecutive year.

She hired Ron Hunter last year to lead the men’s basketball program. He led them to a 22-12 record last year.

The athletics department is also trying to raise capital to renovate the Sports Arena and replace Panthersville.

So Doug, why couldn’t you get the contract details? You know, since there is a contract and all?

Steve, I have to file an Open Records Request, which I have done. I then have to pick up the contract when it’s ready.
When I get the copy, I’ll provide the details.

whoops. didn’t mean to say panthersville is being renovated. I was typing it on my cellphone while sitting in traffic. It’s now clarified to say replace panthersville.

I was gonna donate some serious cash to the new Margaritaville Panthersville, but not sure I can trust my investment will go anywhere. Sorry guys, but Southen is getting my cash.

Party on, it’s five o’clock somewhere!

Oh, this is just precious.

I imagine the lunatic fringe running PT must be losing their minds tonight.

It’s sad that they don’t realize just how far off from reality they actually are.

…and take some better economics and finance courses – the going rate to play “beatdown” financial gain BCS games at AL, OR and other BCS schools is now $1mil per game (see waht UGA and FL havfe to pay bad BCS teams to come to them for beatdowns), not the $550K and $700K she signed up for GSU to get beatdown next year…

The only thing leaving GSU is my support…I will continue to support the BB program, but Football is taking back stage. The product on the field does not warrant us going into the Sun Belt, shoot we cannot even win in the CAA. Unless she brings in a coach to build this program the team will be the laughing stock of college football. Coach Curry, was great to start, but had no business being coach, this year especially announcing at the BEGINNING of the season that he was retiring. That hurt recruiting for next year. What were they thinking making the announcement so early?

The trolls will be eating crow in a month, when Becker shreds that contract and rehires me. Doug has been scooped, and the cover-up is amusing.

Any news on Southern Georgia’s move to FBS, or getting their own blog, or getting indoor plumbing?

Can we please finally put this “Panthertalk.com guy Ben and his sources” to bed? Please? I suggest doing what I intend to do: stop paying this guy any mind and hope he just goes away. Nobody, much less multiple nobodies, close to anything is going to get this story wrong.

She sucks, our student fees for sports keep going up for football because we don’t have get enough fans or money at games. And then they go and schedule games with Alabama and Oregon like that’s going to help us what so ever. She also wastes a ridiculous amount of money on marketing

Still can’t believe I have a football team. It’s kind of like sky diving and arguing on the ground afterwards with your team members that the RW was all wrong. Don’t you guys realize you just jumped out of an airplane. Enjoy the fact that you have a football team even though they aren’t playing very well and enjoy the fact that your MBB team will be in the NCAA tournament 2 times in the next 3 years….book it…… CRH is one he!! of a coach.

Great day to be a panther!
