Georgia State men’s basketball coach Ron Hunter has agreed to a new six-year contract that runs through 2018.
He hasn’t signed the contract yet, but the details have been agreed upon and he is expected to sign it next week. Financial terms haven’t been disclosed.
Hunter guided the Panthers to a 22-12 record last season, his first at the school. It was the second-best record in school history.
His previous five-year contract had a $300,000 annual base salary.
Neither Hunter nor athletic director Cheryl Levick could be reached for comment.
Hunter brought in a deep and talented recruiting class for the upcoming season that includes his son R.J.
The team will open the season at Duke on Nov. 9.
Before being hired at Georgia State, Hunter coached at IUPUI for 17 seasons, winning 274 games. He has a career record of 296-231.

Little early in my opinion after only one season. But, it’s great that Hunter wants to be here for a very long time. I feel good that he will be a great coach here.

Can he coach football also? After last night, Curry looks like he’s retired already.

He was at the game last night, so he knows we need a winner at GSU.

High school unveils $60 million stadium
It’s the Allen (Texas) High School Eagles, which christens the 18,000-seat stadium against defending champion Southlake Carroll.
The stadium also features a multi-level press box, wrestling and weight rooms, a golf practice area and artificial turf.
It’s not the largest high school stadium in Texas, but it is the biggest that houses a single team.

This news puts a smile on my face again. Still hopeful for the football season, but even happier that CRH will be here for a while.

After that beat down against sc state this season looks really bad for your team. At least this contract extension is good news. Will curry win any this year? My magic 8 ball says “it is not likely”
