With the move to fbs, are there plans to move out of the Ga. Dome and build an on-campus stadium?

How has Coach Curry’s announcement of retiring effected recruiting if at all since it occurred right before football season?

Has recruiting interest increased or remained stagnant since GSU announced they are going FBS?

Does the fact that GSU will not play in the postseason for yet another two years hurt recruiting?

Will AD Levick begin looking for a new coach during this upcoming season or will she wait until after the season?

Would the Panthers consider playing in the new Falcons stadium whenever it is built or would they build their own?

Have there been any efforts to ensure better student attendance at home games this year?

I see that Southern is playing UGA this year, is there any talk on a future match up between G-State and either one of the in-state big time programs (hopefully this would not occur until we increase our depth with the added allotment of scholarships)?

Has the fact that Kennessaw State is getting a football team effected our recruiting?

Panama,

Rest assured – not many! SC State will have more fans in the Dome next week than you guys will.

Why hasn’t Georgia Southern been scheduled yet? Eagles travel well and Panther fans would love to shut up the other GSU. That would easily be the highest attended home game of the year and would generate a ton of revenue.

I don’t think going to the Sun Belt qualifies as moving beyond that. If SEC and ACC teams play the Eagles then surely the Panthers would too. Regardless of your personal feelings about the Eagles, money is money, and that game would generate a ton. It’d be much more profitable than a game like Shorter, Lambuth, UTSA, etc. Both sets of fan bases would love the opportunity to destroy the other, may as well take advantage of that. It’s much more realistic than thinking either the Eagles or the Panthers would ever consistently have a close rivalry with UGA or GT.

TD,

Georgia Southern would have to bring all of the people for that matchup to generate a ton of money because Georgia State has something like twelve fans. Besides, the game would be over by middle of the second quarter.

I’ve heard we will know something in November about the coaching position, does that mean we have someone in mind? Will the search be regional or nationwide?

Is our approach to CBC’s replacement to find a known quantity or “up and comer”? Will CBC be involved in sourcing a replacement?

What are the plans for where we play football? Build or rent? Is the Dome going away?

Says you. The Blue Hose are NOT even a quality FCS opponent. Then again, Paul Johnson knows that and it’s an opporunity to throw the ball, get everyone all jacked about the passing game only to have it fall apart as it did in 2011.

Good luck vs. Middle Tennessee as well. You’ll be in for a tighter ball game than many Tech fans want to admit after VT, Virginia and Miami. The players will not get up for a MTSU squad especially if it’s an early game.

GStateBen,

You’re correct about the Blue Hose but it wouldn’t matter playing Georgia State. Besides, Presbyterian was a last-minute fill-in after the Virginia Tech rescheduling.

Middle Tennessee State is horrible and would get pummeled by any number of FCS teams like App. State, North Dakota State, and Georgia Southern. They’re one of the teams that jumped to FBS that probably shouldn’t have. If the Jackets lose to them then they need to hang it up for the year.

I suggest you take a look at the SBC’s future OOC HOME schedules. Why would we waste a game on Georgia Southern when we could schedule a home and home or a 2 and 1 series with an ACC, Big 12 or SEC school?

GSU shouldn’t be considered at a different level to schools that are LITERALLY AT A DIFFERENT LEVEL? That doesn’t make any sense what-so-ever. Logic isn’t strong with you I’m guessing…
Also, regarding making money playing southern; we won’t because if we play them, it’ll be their payout game. I don’t think we really want to fund their athletic departments.

The GSU-GSU matchup won’t happen until Georgia Southern goes to the Sun Belt Conference (assuming that happens) for a couple of reasons. First of all, Georgia State’s not going to pay to get destroyed by an in-state FCS team. In fact, I would be surprised if State doesn’t try to get out of their upcoming series with Chatty. And Southern would probably consider it an indignity to do a one-and-done in the Dome. If Southern goes to the SBC then the two teams will play every year – and it will be a lopsided series.

The University Name
The words “Georgia Southern” or “Georgia Southern University” when used in any form are considered University trademarks and should adhere to all standards for trademark use. Preferred uses are Georgia Southern University and Georgia Southern. To strengthen the University’s identity and avoid confusion with other institutions, the
abbreviation “GSU” MUST NOT be used in publications, ads, Web sites, or other media; limited use on merchandise may be approved as long as the words “Georgia Southern” or “Georgia Southern University” can be used in close proximity.

Good to see ticket (season, group, etd.) sales ticking upward. It’s better than the alternative.

@ Doug….why is the NCAA taking so much time deciding on the eligibility of the three transfers? It makes me think there is something ambiguous/vague in the NCAA bylaws regarding this matter.

@ Doug….Do you think there is any possibility that Georgia State will pursue acquiring land and buildings (particularly the stadium) from the Morris Brown (which is facing foreclosure) campus?
