Georgia State basketball season-ticket prices will see some slight increases

Georgia State will keep season-ticket prices for most current customers the same for the 2012-13 basketball season. However, all season tickets for court-side seats will see a 100-percent increase to $1,000.

The price for lower-level season-tickets will stay at $145 for current customers. That price will increase to $165 for new customers. Mezzanine-level season-tickets will stay at $105 for current customers, and to $115 for new customers.

The ticket packages will be put in the mail next week.

Tiffany Daniels, senior athletic director, said it’s the first ticket increase in at least three years. The change is necessary she said because of the growth and direction of the program. In coach Ron Hunter’s first season, the Panthers went 22-12.

Georgia State is considering what types of additional benefits it is going to provide for court-side fans. Daniel said one of the ideas being considered is more personalized service. For example, when they arrive at the game and check in with a concierge, waiting at their seat might be their favorite snack or drink. Free merchandise may be given to them.

Daniels said she benchmarked last year’s prices against tickets for other schools in the Colonial Athletic Association and the Sun Belt, as well as Georgia, Georgia Tech and Kennesaw State. She said last year’s prices were less than seven schools in each of the two conferences and two schools in the state. The new prices won’t affect that status much.

Georgia State had 210 season-ticket holders last year at close to a 100-percent renewal rate and hopes to have at least that many season-ticket holder this year.

So, what do you think about the increase for courtside seats and for new season-ticket holders. If my math is correct, even at $1,000 its less than $100 per game for courtside seats and less than $10 per game for lower-level seats.

Existing customers who wish to upgrade their seating will be able to do so at last year’s prices, according to Daniels.

Let me see if I understand this correctly …..Court side seats when Jerry Heater is the referee for final season of VAA play in which Ga State’s team will be incredible for $1000?
Worth every penny!!!!

Not a big deal to me…There are currently only what 20 or so court-side seats? With last years success, the excitement as a result of the conference move and IMG running ticket sales, those seats are going to sell. If the people who sat there for $500 don’t like it, get some lower level seats for a fraction of the price! Season tickets at the other levels are dirt cheap even with the increase and I understand we need to pull in some more money from somewhere to implement all the upgrades planned. That being said, after this increase, we need to stay at the ticket price until we can come close to filling up the arena on a nightly basis at the current prices.

I just finished up degree number two at G-State have had football season tickets for 3 years now and will be purchasing my basketball season tickets for the first time in the next month or so. GET ON BOARD!!!!!!!!!!

I enjoy GSU games last year. With last year ticket price at $10 in lower level and free parking , it was very affordable. I am looking to go back for more games this year.

ha, ha, check in with a concierge, is this person going to make sure the cars don’t get broken into? $1,000 for an independent basketball program that hasn’t been to a legit postseason in 10 years… ha ha what are they thinking?

I just renewed my huddletix for football on Thursday ( my birthday) and I will purchase 2 courtside tix for my third year in a row. I have taken my kids to GSU sporting events as much as they can go. I don’t care about the price. The time spent with my boys are well worth the price. I enjoy every second of it. And, hammer, if the kids can’t go, you have a season courtside seat with me if you want. And of course, hawk is at the top of the list with you. Looking forward to seeing all of the REAL GSU fans there!!!

After being a PAC STH for football since the beginning, I am adding GSU basketball season tickets. Went to a game a couple of times last year, and it was so much more entertaining than the hawks for a fraction of the price.

Me again- SMART enough to know, I am still here in my mom’s basement acting like I am smart enuf to know something? Since I work at the mall I still can’t afford any tickets so it doesn’t matter to me. I also usually have some stupid delirious comment about academics being important or GaState being a ghetto school because I have my own insecurities about getting a college education but still having to work at the mall so here goes. Instead of raising tickets prices they should lower tuition so that some of my occupy wallstreet loser friends can save some money cause we are never gonna pay our loans and your gonna have to pick that up in some govt bailout later.

Who cares. Georgia State has been reduced to a low-grade diploma mill, full of junk majors and an unqualified student body. And I’m a Georgia State grad. Go Kennesaw State!
