Georgia State University President Dr. Mark Becker asked his counterparts in the Colonial Athletic Association on Tuesday to vote to allow the Panthers to participate in the conference postseason tournaments. As you know, GSU is leaving the CAA to join the Sun Belt next year. CAA rules prohibit schools that have resigned from playing in conference tournaments, unless the remaining members vote otherwise.
The CAA didn’t issue any statements Tuesday, other than to say they would issue a statement Wednesday.
Becker issued this statement Tuesday night:
“At today’s annual meeting of the CAA Presidents, John Broderick of Old Dominion and I made our formal request to the remaining nine conference schools to allow our student-athletes to compete in postseason play in 2012-13. We were asked to leave the meeting after we presented our case and answered questions. We look forward to receiving an answer when a decision is finalized.”

If it doesn’t happen, I hope it expedites our move to the Sun Belt. If I recall correctly, we joined the CAA a year earlier than anticipated from the A-SUN.

Must be hard being a GaSo troll these days. Someone please put up a blog in George-Anne for the FCS team down south. Worry about your peers: Mercer and KSU while we focus on ours: UGA and Tech.
