Georgia State will open football on a Thursday

Georgia State’s football season-opener will be on Thursday, Aug. 30 against South Carolina State at the Georgia Dome. Kickoff will be at 7:30 p.m.

It will be the second time in three years the Panthers have opened on a Thursday. In 2010, their program debuted with a 41-7 win against Shorter at the Dome. They opened with a win against Clark Atlanta on a Friday last season.

The date for this year’s game against the Bulldogs wasn’t set when the rest of the schedule was announced earlier this year. The delay was the result of negotiations between Georgia State and the Dome, which was waiting on NFL preseason schedules.

Season tickets are on sale. Call 866-GA-STATE for more information.

Keep the tradition alive. We’ve average close to 30K on Thursday nights. I expect a really good crowd against a good SCSU team.

Good schedule, but I’m not liking having to fight with the Falcons for home dates. We need our own facility ASAP.

Good to know, now I can go ahead and schedule a trip back to Atlanta. I like the tradition of having opening day games on a Thursday night, and glad to be playing SC State to start the season.

Uh…why? We need a week off to heal up our guys and let them rst, not one at the end of the season.

That’s how the CAA set it up. Think of it as a week of rest before the playoffs.

It’s called the “CAA Welcome Package.” Old Dominion had the same fortune of playing 8 straight weeks. They parlayed it into 10-3 season and a 2nd round birth in the FCS Playoffs.

Cute.. it’s my student fees that fund this failure. Bball has been great and it was nice to beat Southern, but we have zero future in College football. At least Southern wins.

Thank you Coach Bill Curry and STAFF Thank You AD Cheryl Levick and STAFF. And thank you all and especially the other coaches………. (CRH CGF……) and Athletes and Signees. We are behind you!!! People, (GSU NATION), realize that we have an Athletics Department that is SERIOUS on building a FIRST CLASS Program and being in the ATL it’s going to happen regardless of the trolls and the GSU Alum/Student nay-sayers. If you want to be a part get on board. If you don’t then hide in the bushes and watch. Either way it’s going to happen and will make your degree more meaningful. GO GSU PANTHERS!!! BLUE OUT!!!

Really? More meaningful? We are terrible against teams people don’t hear about. It’s embarrassing to talk to my friends about football. If we were so serious we would have an AD that talks about going up everyday. We don’t even have a real spring game!! I felt so tiny when I went games last year.. It was sad. We are going to play teams that are better than the teams we played last year. You people drink some strong coolaid.

@State Student, you need to stop being embarrassed when talking to your friends about football because it makes you seem like a huge p u s s y. Sad but true, grow a pair and stand up for your school no matter what our football team is going through.

If you can’t see that having this football program is going to make your degree more valuable and give GSU a ton more visibilty, then you aren’t seeing the forest for the trees. Outside of the Ivy League’s, please name some public universities that don’t have football programs that you know much about or care about?

Spring Game 2011? Are you a troll? Probably! It was at the GA DOME where we tail gated for the 2011 GSU Spring Game, 3,400 plus attended. You are either stupid or a troll. A TROLL FOR SURE. You are definitely uninformed or just plain STUPID. STUPID IS AS STUPID DOES(FORREST). Check out the GSU SIGNAL..Maybe you can find out what’s up. lol

Come off like a child? You are the one who is getting your feelings hurt b/c you can’t handle the heat from other schools fans joking about the GSU football team losing some games that they should not have of. I had to go through the jokes too, but guess what, I stood up for my team and continued to talk about them, but at the same time not being a prideful kool-aid drinking bafoon. I still love the GSU football team and will continue to love them through thick and thin, but I think a lot of our student body and alumni seem to be “scared” to admit they are GSU fans and just can’t handle criticism when the going gets tough.

I hope you don’t ever run a business b/c if you are ready to give up after a bad 2nd year then you will never be successful.

No one is sure of the identity of anyone on the AJC blogs. But I am sure as everyone is certain that when you donate your dollars to your University or a Personal Charity of your choice you can be assured that your support is going where you desire. Otherwise, keep your money and die with your short comings! Maybe you need to join the Occupy Movements and cry us a river!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Vote OBAMA !!!
