Michael Davis out for season

Georgia State starting center Michael Davis is out for the remainder of the football season after suffering a broken ankle.

The ankle was rolled on during Wednesday’s practices. The coaching staff hoped it was just a sprain, but test results showed it was broken.

Davis, who played at Chamblee, started last week’s loss to Jacksonville State because Ben Jacoby suffered a sprained MCL in his right knee during the loss to Old Dominion in the second game of the season. He may return in two weeks.

Ulrick John will start at center in Saturday’s game against Houston.

Depth anyone? That is very depressing. Who would have thought we needed 4 or 5 centers for the 2011 season

#56 Ulrick John 6 foot 8 290 lbs.
6.8… looks like you will need a tall quarterback to throw over the center.
Hope it’s Little.

lets just pray this team does something because truth be told they have no good WR other than the one who pulled his hamstring to throw too

Danny Williams is a great receiver, we just need to get him the ball.

That is the drawback of football. Players will be hurt. Unfortunately, lack of depth will come back to haunt you. We did have a center that was supposed to take over for Ben. Tim Wynn must be growing tired of the game. From what I undertand,he has not made any strides. GO PANTHERS.

I hope the question is not “who will be protecting Schlecter?” but “who will be protecting Little?”

Decieved – We have good WR’s but in order to catch the ball and make plays they need to be thrown the ball from someone other than a 4th string QB. When you stare down your WR as a QB, you give him about zero chance to catch it because the defender jumps the pass.

Where has G State Ben gone who has been pestering Tech fans for the last year?
Oh your program is tanking?
I wanted to pull for Bill Curry but with G State Ben being a jerk, it difficult not to laugh now.
I guess he got his just reward for badmouthing other programs.

GStateBen is probably too busy drooling over next year’s stud recruits who won’t pan out.

GStateBen- over-reaching, misguided, self important, seems to have aggravated and pestered fans of every university in the state, including his own!

I enjoy following the Panthers. It seems the injury bug and lack of depth are hurting them right now. It does make you appreciate that Georgia Southern won it’s first National Championship in only their third year of I-AA Football. It ain’t easy.

@GSU Eagle

Are you talking about ga southern trolls? It seems like a fairly accurate description

Kinda makes you wonder what happened to Tim Wynn?

Could you do worse? Honestly…think about it…even if you had no football knowledge to speak of. I mean with all Ga State has to offer couldn’t you hire quality aggressive young coaches…smile and nod while your offensive coordinator explains that he wants a certain type of QB to run his offense and will grab a second with similar skills as the backup…agree when your young aggressive D-Coord says he wants to stop the run first with a 4-3 and blitz a lot…eat a ham sandwich and go play golf.

GSU Eagle,
How come Southern is still a FCS program? I agree you are one of the FCS schools with a couple of championships. So why are you still FCS? Let me ask it another way. If Southern was an FBS school would you be on this blog? Probably not. So the question remains if Southern is so great then why are you still playing football in the FCS?

GSU Eagle,
How come Southern is still a FCS program? Is it your number of students? Let’s compare
Ga Southern Enrollment for Fall 2011 = 19,086
Here is a list of 2011 Enrollment for some FBS Schools:
University of Idaho = 12,312
University of Nevada = 17,679
UAB = 18,777
Boise State = 19,993
I wish just for once that one of the Southern Trolls would answer this simple question. With all your history and all of your championships and playoff victories why are you still a FCS program?

I know the answer…your scared to make the jump. Before you start bashing a first year FCS football team that has the courage to start a program take a look in the mirror to see the real problem. Your envious because your football program should be in the FBS, but your University is to afraid to make the jump. Keeping it real.

Pride- moving up to the FBS level takes great levels of financial commitments- increased alumni donations, increased scholarships, adding female sports to abide by Title IX, etc. The main reason Southern hasn’t moved up isn’t because we’re scared, or because of our student numbers. It’s a huge financial commitment we’re not ready to make. The recent FBS feasibility study, conducted a few years ago, will tell you exactly that.

The only troll here is the one calling Georgia Southern scared.

CBC is enjoying a last round of congrats for bringing 1960s football to Atlanta. Once the old Codger gives it up maybe we can get some young blood coaches and move ahead. Until that time – don’t bet against Campbell…them Camels are hungry and they saw our play calling last year.

I would bet a dollar..maybe five…that the hot small college football program a few years from now will be Kennesaw State. I’m a GS fan, but I see us p!ssing away our newness. KS will come in all thunder and lightning.

Is Kennesaw State going to be FCS or Division II?

Kennesaw State will be FCS. The questions are will they be scholarship or non-scholarship, and when do they start? Mercer is another Georgia school that will start football in 2013 and they will be non-scholarship.
