Thanks for the coverage Doug!
It may be the most exciting Fall and Winter seasons in Georgia State history. CRH has brought a tremendous energy level and optimism around our program.

Glad to see this reads as “GSUs play each other”. It IS possible for there to be more than one GSU, at least the AJC gets it.

I wish Bill Curry wanted to play Georgia Southern in football. He says we have no need to play them right now, which is dissappointing.

It’s not so much that CBC doesn’t want to play them, their AD doesn’t want to play us. We reached out to them in 2009 and 2010. You need two to tango.

Yes, we have been playing them in recent seasons, but there can be a legitimate rivalry here between us, especially if media outlets like the AJC cover these stories making it a big deal. It certainly is good for the university.

State beat down Southern by 20 two years ago, and then choked on the road last season and lost in OT by a FG. I expect another 20+ point beat down, shouldn’t be too difficult.

I was referring to the quote by Curry at the Pigskin Preview when he said that he didn’t want to play Southern because they were too tough of an opponent. That, to me, was just dissappointing.

I think the two schools should come up with a “Real GSU” trophy and make that the prize for winning.

And this is news because . . .? These two teams have played each other the last two seasons. Shows how closely the AJC pays attention to both Georgia State and Georgia Southern basketball.

That out of conference schedule is much different than what KSU has under their new coach. I would like to see those 2 schools play each other though as a home and home every year.

@ Marcus That’s funny. We called Georgia and Georgia Tech and could not get a game scheduled. Tech refused because of the hot garbage on the roster.

Now will these schools invite Mercer in and make it a party. Even ambitiously include KSU and Savannah state for an annual cup to raise money for a Georgia based charity. That would at least educate students and supporters of these schools about Georgia related issues.

The series however is much in Georgia Southern’s favor. They lead 31-12. Georgia State should not have lost last year’s game as Southern finished 5-27 and were 1-17 in their conference. State’s last coach wasn’t very good.
