Moody enrolls at Georgia State

Former Georgia football signee Dexter Moody has enrolled at Georgia State.

Moody, a four-star linebacker from Emanuel County Institute, signed with Georgia in 2009. However, he never enrolled because Georgia revoked his letter of intent after he was suspended from high school.

He enrolled at Fort Scott (Kan.) Community College, where he played as a sophomore after redshirting as a freshman. He had 28 tackles and 2.5 sacks in seven games. He played linebacker and safety there. He has three years of eligibility remaining.

He received offers from Nebraska and Cincinnati, but never received a letter of intent. Colleague Chip Towers wrote this about Moody earlier this year.

Hmmmmm. If Georgia revoked his scholarship, he must be a bad kid. However, two years after the fact, if Coach Curry will take a chance on the young man, I guess I will give him a chance also.

Curry knows good character when he sees it.

Hmmm. If Moody had come to UGA, he’d be branded a thug. But, he enrolls with the Rev. Curry, and it’s a triumphant story of redemption, and the Rev is a saintly man for taking this formerly troubled youth under his wing for a second chance.

good luck to them, I guess.

Dexter didn’t come to Statesboro because we didn’t call. Good luck to the young man and I hope he turns things around but signs say different. He complained that his JUCO coach didn’t help him find someone to play for, whats that tell you.

426, Curry is a great speaker and a likable guy, but make no mistake about it, Curry will take ANYONE he thinks might help him win, character not withstanding. Now the kid will pretty much have to tow the line or face consequences, but Curry’s job is to win football games and he will take any rejects from Sec or Acc teams in hopes in pans out. Like I said the guy is a likable man for the most part, but he does have an ego, and winning big at Ga. State, will stoke that ego, no matter if he is winning with thugs, punks or chiorboys.

81Dog, You are calling Bill Curry “Rev!” Who the heck then is Richt? The kid is not a trouble maker, and down the line in the future, Richt will see that Ealey, Mettenberger, or Moody were not real
trouble makers, just young men who might have need a little more guidance instead of a kick in the back from Richt!….Go Dawgs, Ealey, Mettenberger, and Moody!!

Hmmm, lets see, UGA is ranked as the 56th best academic university in the entire country (Harvard is #1 just for reference), while State is ranked as a Tier-3 school (i.e. not even ranked). Any talk about superior education at State is just sheer ignorance. That being said, State does have some good programs, such as their Part-time and executive MBA programs.

@ Reality,
FYI More Georgia CEO’s were graduated from GSU than from any other school in the country. Oh and yes, Harvard was #2. Say what you want to but if you have a job, you probably work for someone that went to GSU.

Curry’s job is to win, but Curry is untouchable at State. He doesn’t have to take on any rotten kids if he feels they won’t fit or hasn’t changed.

I really don’t want to fight with any Georgia people about academics. All I’ll say is that Georgia State holds its own academically and is the highest ranked college in Georgia for numerous studies. I’m pretty sure it ranks 3rd in state under Tech and UGA without any real competition

@ Itsmeagain

Absolutely agree! We are probably #3 but many Tech and UGA grads hold MBA’s from GSU. Not GS or KSU! The week of the GSU Alabama game I was filling up at a Quick Trip and in the same island in front of me was a Alabama Alum and during our conversation he made mention he held an MBA from GSU. He was definitely proud of that fact and excited for the Panthers new football team. My BBA from our Business school has definitely been a positive for me! GO PANTHERS!!!

More CEO’s at Ga State than any school. LOL show a link.

And all those guys laying around campus does not count. You know the guy that is the CEO of the corner of 9th and peachtree, the CEO running the corner or 8th and Peachtree etc. Now if that counts then I agree Ga State has more CEOs than anyone. Why wouldn’t you let Curry retire with a little dignity than having us watch him go down in flames to an empty Ga Dome. LOL

A word of caution : Valdosta State has taken their share of D-1 transfers and they can be very iffy. We won the 2004 NC with a FSU transfer at QB ,but I would say about 2/3 to 3/4 of them don’t work out. They did not leave their D-1 school because things were going well. Many of them have academic issues, discipline problems, or are simply not team players. Good luck in 2011.
Go Panthers and Blazers.
