Every Georgia State team surpassed the minimum acceptable score of 925 in the latest Academic Progress Rate announced today by the NCAA.
The APR is used to measure how athletes are progressing through school. The scores released today are based on a multi-year rate that averages scores dating back to 2006-07 academic years. Teams that fail to average 925 are subject to penalties including loss of scholarships.
Notably, the men’s basketball team scored a perfect 1,000 for the 2009-10 year, improving its multi-year rate to 946. Baseball, men’s golf and women’s tennis also achieved perfect scores.
Men’s soccer scored the highest multi-year rate (993).
“We are extremely proud of the academic accomplishments of our student-athletes, and we congratulate them, as well as our coaches and administrative staff,” athletic director Cheryl L. Levick said in a statement. “As a department, we are committed to providing the resources and support to ensure that our student-athletes have every opportunity to excel.”
