Georgia State’s baseball team is in the CAA tournament for the third consecutive season and though it will be playing the top seed, James Madison, it’s a good matchup for the Panthers.
Georgia State (37-19, 17-13) won its only series against the Dukes (37-17, 21-9), 2-1, earlier this season, taking the second win with a grand slam by Rob Lind in the ninth inning.
It’s similar to the theatrics that pushed the Panthers into the CAA tournament, with Brandon Williams hitting a walk-off single in the 10th inning to knock off George Mason on Saturday to clinch the fourth and final spot.
The tournament begins Thursday in Wilmington, N.C. The Panthers will play the Dukes at 3 p.m. Wilmington will face Old Dominion at 7 p.m. It should be noted that Georgia State won the tournament in 2009.
