Georgia State’s baseball team can secure a spot in the Colonial Athletic Association tournament by winning its three-game series against George Mason.
Will Campbell (8-2, 2.85 ERA) will take the mound in Thursday’s 6 p.m. opener at Panthersville against the Patriots (20-30-1, 6-21).
The Panthers (35-18, 15-12) are in fourth and have made the four-team conference tournament the past two seasons, winning it in 2009. The tournament will be held next week in Wilmington.
Friday’s game is at 6 p.m. Charley Olson (5-4, 2.85 ERA) will take the mound. Saturday’s regular season finale is set for 1 p.m. Justin Malone (7-1, 4.09 ERA) will pitch that one.
In addition to securing a spot in the tournament, the Panthers have a chance to set a record for wins in the regular season. The school record for wins is 39, set in 2009.
The Panthers have the CAA’s second-highest team batting average at .312, while the pitching staff’s 4.35 ERA is second.
Thursday’s and Friday’s games will be on radio on 88.5 FM.
