Georgia State’s baseball team will take on Wilmington in a key series this weekend. The Panthers are tied for third in the Colonial Athletic Association with Old Dominion.
There are five teams battling for the four spots in the conference’s short tournament.
The Panthers, 33-13 overall, 13-8 in the conference and coming off a three-game sweep of Hofstra, are one of them. Wilmington is a game behind Georgia State. Both teams trail Delaware and James Madison, which are tied for first at 15-9. William and Mary are trying to fight their way into the picture. The Panthers have a series remaining in Williamsburg.
In softball, the second-place Panthers (15-2) will take on league leaders Hofstra (16-1) this weekend. The series winner takes the regular season and will host the conference tournament. Bad news for Georgia State: Hofstra has won 25 in a row at home. Oh, and Hofstra has only lost two CAA series in school history. That’s right. Neither of them came at home. The good news is Georgia State is the only CAA team Hofstra hasn’t swept.
