TUSCALOOSA — Just got to my seat. Long story short, if you need a ride to the University of Alabama, you definitely do not want to drive with me.
Great night for football. Let’s get it on.
November 18th, 20107:57 pm
alabama up 14-0 with 3:55 to go on two long TD drives. gsu making them work, at least.
November 18th, 20108:08 pm
ESPN U showed Coach Curry’s pre-game speech… I’m pumped up! Let’s Go Panthers!!!
November 18th, 20108:12 pm
end of first quarter. bama 14-0. gsu holding their own so far.
November 18th, 20108:30 pm
uh-oh, bama goes 72 yards in four plays for 28-0 lead iwth 10:03 to play in second. alabama looks like it’s beginning to assert itself.
November 18th, 20108:37 pm
PUT IN STAR JACKSON!!!!!!!
November 18th, 20108:44 pm
Nothing to loose…..
wheels falling off.
November 18th, 20108:55 pm
Uh – what did you expect?
November 18th, 20108:58 pm
Leave now, and maybe you can get some ribs at dreamland
November 18th, 20109:03 pm
naw…..lets aim for another td in the 2nd halves and be happy!
November 18th, 20109:06 pm
Hopefully alabama with take their foot off the gas, and GSU can have some fun with it.
November 18th, 20109:12 pm
This is great. That TD made it all worth it!! BTW, dreamland ribs were awesome!!
November 18th, 20109:13 pm
Is the $650,000 payment going to cover the hospital bills?
November 18th, 20109:33 pm
let’s see if georgiai state can get something going. one decent drive, i imagine, would be a great takeaway for gsu.
November 18th, 20109:40 pm
how was the GSU turnout tonight
November 18th, 201010:17 pm
HEY, the quarterback in the first quarter looked scared for his life! trust in your olineman, thye willl protect you with everything they got. Maybe Bill Curry shouldn’t have been such an asshole in the past and ‘Bama wouldn’t put such an asswhoopin on your eagles. Next seaosn looks promising though! remember, dont take anyone lightly (not even the non-scholarship programs) most of those kids work harder than anyone in the nation!
November 18th, 201011:47 pm
Jeff did your GSU a good job on his LIVE blog. I do hope you enjoyed your trip and had a chance to see some of the BAMA sites. Be safe on your way home.

Ken…what was up with the dual blogs…love getting the exposure…but didn’t know which one to follow…anyway…this wraps it up for this year…hopefully we’ll be hearing from you as far as recruiting is concerned and during Spring practices, and the Spring game.
November 19th, 20101:58 am
Ken, since you have our emails, can you shoot us some messages when you are working on recruiting stories for the blog and paper?
November 19th, 20103:49 am
Just got back, and what an experience! Great turnout by the GSU fans, and the team showed some flashes of brilliance: 97-yard kickoff return and impressive goal-line stand from the 1-inch line! There’s nothing like a night game in a huge, hostile stadium. Kudos to GSU’s football team, band, cheerleaders, and Pantherettes, and thanks to many of the Alabama fans that were very hospitable. Special thanks goes to JOX94.5 for a great post-game radio show on the drive back.
GEORGIA STATE TO THE BIG EAST!!!!!
November 19th, 20107:39 am
Ouch..Double Ouch! Ok, moral victory to Georgia State. You guys showed up and nobody got hurt. Alabama was cruising through the parking lot and won by 55 points. Georgia State gets a paycheck. Alabama gets some scrimmage time to prepare for Auburn. Woopeee!!
Next year, Georgia State should scrimmage the Falcons; you know where the locker rooms are located. Step aside and let somebody line up against the big boys.
November 19th, 20108:17 am
what a way to make 400k…..ALABAMA ROCKS THE SOUTH WITH ANOTHER SEC POWERHOUSE VICTORY…..dumb and dumber
November 19th, 20108:42 am
State didn’t even get $650,000 they got $400,000. Tough game but you had to see it coming with a start up team and playing the previous National Champs.
Nice Season hope to see both schools step up and do a home and home series.
Do you guys have a schedule for next year up already?
November 19th, 20108:56 am
Ken, I wasn’t sure what happened yesterday but didn’t see your GSU/Bama game thread so posted on Schultz’s site. I won’t make that mistake again and thanks for a great season full of entertaining reports. Think about doing our basketball games. We’d love to have you do it.
November 19th, 20109:44 am
A little positive nugget from this game, GSU has the only kickoff return for a TD against Bama this year.
Ken – Thanks for your great coverage and stories this year. Hope you enjoyed doing it and I’m looking forward to next season!
November 19th, 201010:43 am
Thanks coach Bill Curry for a great season. You did a outstanding job with this startup program.
November 19th, 201010:46 am
I’m loving GSU Football! My dad now deceased was the first DBA graduate from GSU. I went there in 1968. Sure wish we had football back then. GSU’s a great school, some say the Harvard of the South with their Business Administration program. Proud to be a Panther!
November 19th, 201010:59 am
Great experience last night. Will help in all phases and I’m challenging all alums to step up and support this team. 2011 schedule will be out very soon, contracts are being finalized and signed.
We did receive $435K from last night (not $600K or more that other media were reporting). There is another rumbling of an SEC opponent in 2013 but I’ll remain quiet until I hear more.
Great job this year Ken! We appreciate you man!
November 19th, 201011:20 am
An offering to the god of the almighty dollar. I hope nobody got hurt. The first quarter goalline stand was awesome! Division I schools should not be able to play Division II teams in regular seaso, paticularly this late in the season. Case in point; Georgia v Utah State. It was embarrasing. But us UGA fans are used to embarrasment by now.
November 19th, 20101:42 pm
@GStateBen- Please tell me it’s Vanderbilt!!! hahahaha.
November 19th, 20102:05 pm
Went to the game, could not be prouder of the job Coach Curry and the players have done this year. Our band sounded great, the cheerleaders were awesome, great showing for everybody. Albert Wilson’s runback was unbelieveable and made every mile driven totally worthwhile. No matter what he does in the future, he’ll always have that moment to keep for the rest of his life, as will the rest of the team. Thanks also to the Alabama fans, you guys were great had a lot of fun down there. See ya in 2011 GO PANTHERS.
November 19th, 20102:14 pm
GSUtimes2: Why would we play a bottom rung team when we can play another powerhouse? Haha.

GSU is the only team to run a kickoff back for a TD on BAMA this year. Here is a link to my shaky video. (My son is # 18–http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=houAMA-4o6Q) We had some good kickoff coverage. We completed a 55 yard pass. We made a goal line stand! It would have been nice to have seen a miracle, but for a first year team, I am PROUD OF OUR PANTHERS! Good work, guys!
November 19th, 20105:15 pm
Auburn needs a money game. For 435K they can get two more Cam Newtons before he goes pro this spring.
November 19th, 20106:30 pm
Great Job team! You didn’t back down nor give up! You all should be very proud of what you accomplished for our University. I believe we are on the way to success. Thank you Coach Curry for making this possible. Also, thanks to Alabama for scheduling GSU. Seeing our team on national T.V. was unbelievable. Ken keep up the great work and keep us informed on the 2011 schedule as well as recruiting. GO PANTHERS!!!
Bama Fan in Georgia land
November 19th, 20106:45 pm
Congrats to the GSU team, coaches, and fans! Setting the first row of bricks is the hardest! I hope that great successes come your way in the future. Glad to hear many positive comments about the treatment by BAMA fans and your experience in T-town. Bama fans are not as bad as we are often portrayed. Good luck as your program moves onward and upward!
November 19th, 20106:56 pm
Why is a HBCU poll continually being posted on a GSU thread. I don’t see GSU listed on there and can’t understand the connection. These things are just as annoying as fending off the UGA, GT or GSoU trolls from trying to redirect our thread. Georgia State is not a Historically Black College or University. It is, historically one of the most culturally diverse college campuses in the world and I love it more because of it. So, like the UGAs, GTs or GSoUs please respect Georgia State’s thread. Your school must have their own forum or thread for you to talk to your own supporters. If they don’t, create one. That’s what happened with GSU and our creation of http://www.panthertalk.com
Go State! Great job on our first season. Onward and upward.
Now let’s root on our basketball team. GSU plays Troy tonight and will be a good one. Support GSU and cheer for our Panthers.
November 19th, 20109:21 pm
A football program that should have never been. Waste of money. You cannot and will not ever be able to compete with real teams.
November 19th, 201010:18 pm
@ GSU Idiots, I guess we’ll just spend the money that our university raises how we see fit. Thank you and keep moving.

Glad to read all the positive post about their experience in T- Town.
I love to watch men who play the game because they love to play not because they are paid to play. The Panthers played with heart and pride, I would say the future is very bright for this program.
@GStateBen – we could beat Vandy though! Ha.
My favorite conversation with a Bama fan at he game was this sweet southern motherly type lady who after our band finished said to me “wow, this is y’alls first year havin’ a band?” When I said it was our first year with football she said “Oh my stars! Awre you kiddin’!?”
All the fans around me and my wife were shocked to find out we are a first year team.
(PS: she pronounced band, “bay-und”).
November 20th, 201011:36 am
@English….you are a moron! You have demonstrated that each week with your lame comments. Clearly, you are as much a loser as your football team…..you bedwetter!
November 20th, 20101:26 pm
Dude, seriously. What do you care? It’s a Saturday. The fact that you keep posting in here clearly makes you the loser. Go out and be productive.
November 20th, 20102:12 pm
I was at the game and the GSU folks were classy all the way. How many football teams, in their first yea,r have a winning season and play the defending national champions on ESPN.
I was one of the Alabama alumni that wanted Bill Curry to stay. He is a good man and a great coach. I think some of the negative comments you are getting from other Georgians is that they fear a third team to have to compete for recruits with. I bet GSU signs a good many quality players.
But the next time you challenge the SEC, you should start with lesser teams like Vandy, or Kentucky or (here it comes) Georgia.
November 20th, 20108:25 pm
Congrats to Georgia State – great first season!!!!!
November 21st, 20101:49 am
@ gsu idiots– what a coward– grow up– how dare you talk about ga southern like that–lol
