Not sure how Norcross’ schedule strength can be lower than NG – they play in the same region, and thus play all the same teams. And Norcross’ out of region game was against the number 1 ranked team in the nation.

The Maxwell Ratings do not take into account out of state teams. So NG and Norcross played the same Region 7 schedule except NG has Norcross on their schedule and Norcross has NG. Essentially the same. Non region games NG had Camden County and Grayson. Norcross had Parkview and BTW (which doesnt count). It is safe to say they both had very difficult schedules.

Flyer is correct about the out-of-state opponents not counting, or having little impact.

Using Maxwell’s Ratings of Class AAAAAA teams, North Gwinnett has played six of the top eight teams in AAAAAA. Norcross has played three.

Truly useless information. Trivia is at least objective. If these rankings justify where your team is placed, it’s all good. If it doesn’t, it’s gibberish.

The semifinalists get to sort it out on the field. The rest get to argue about this stuff until next season.

@RFN – My team gets to settle it on the field. If people want to get worked up about who’s 8th best (or whatever) in the state, or their classification, they can have at it. I’m not complaining, just giving my opinion. Thanks for your thoughts, though.

Good luck to your guys, BTW.

@Old Bear

These rankings are based purely on data. By definition you can t get any more ‘objective’. When other factors such as opinion are introduced is when it gets ’subjective’. If you don’t like them and you really think they don’t worthless then just DON’T read the rankings. Pretty easy man.

@Old Bear == Please understand that there is a kinship at work. Things fell the way many wanted. That many includes some who you are not talking with. They will come at you if you disagree. Having your own thought is taboo. You must conform to a prescribed set of rules and standards. To be independent is seen as being delusional or crazy. Your opinion does not matter. You do not live in the bubble, therefore you are not correct in your thinking nor does it matter what you think. If you are not a follower, there is no need for you. It is much like the old aptitude test they used to administer in school and try to tell you what you were best suited for in the job market. They know better than you do. They know more than you do. They know you better than you do.

@Old Bear == Good luck this week. I am looking for the Bears to play Bear football and bring it to the Southside. I think this game being on turf is going to make Griffin better. I will also be pulling for Lamar and Creekside. It just might happen. Again, good luck.

I am an IT tekkie & I look at stats a LOT.. They mean NOTHING… Like polls (except in D1 football), they mean nothing, because there’s a PLAYOFF… Thank goodness for that..

Point to make… Collins Hill… #5… They did not make the semi’s… & were beaten by #12 McEachern… On the field of play…

So as the story goes & is once again proven true – just look above… Stats are for losers!!

Settle it on the gridiron Baby!!!

PS – Tucker should be Top 10…..

My heavens, somebody here has a severe persecution complex. I hope for him to receive a massive amount of therapy so that he can see HIS part, and once and for all, behave calmly and rationally here. Otherwise, I suggest he find something else to do.

Maxwell Ratings have held up pretty well this year, actually. They’re impartial. If you don’t like them, don’t read them.

Here’s the lineup for the 2014 Corky Kell taken from the Gwinnett Daily Post. The link: http://www.gwinnettprepsports.com/news/2013/dec/11/five-gwinnett-football-teams-involved-in-expanded/

Two Gwinnett newcomers are in this year’s field, Archer and Mill Creek. Norcross also returns — it played in the 2008 and 2009 Corky Kell Classics — along with Brookwood and North Gwinnett.

It’s probably the best lineup we’ve ever had competitively,” event co-creator and organizer Dave Hunter said. “Seven of those (14) teams we have were semifinalists this season. I’m really excited about it. It’s going to be a great weekend of high school football.”

Archer plays in the 8:30 p.m. game Friday, Aug. 22 at McEachern against Sandy Creek. That game will follow a 5:30 p.m. game between North Paulding and Creekview.

Five games will follow at the Dome Saturday, Aug. 23, the final four featuring Gwinnett teams after an 8:45 a.m. Kell-Carrollton matchup.

Mill Creek’s first game in the Dome will be at 11:45 a.m. against annual participant McEachern. Brookwood then takes on Valdosta at 2:45 p.m.

The last two games are currently set with North Gwinnett vs. Colquitt County at 5:30 p.m. and Norcross vs. Tucker at 8:45 p.m. Hunter said those matchups could switch if Tucker wins the Class AAAAA state title this weekend. If that happens, Tucker will face the AAAAAA state champion (the Norcross-North winner) and Colquitt County will play the AAAAAA runner-up.

#“If we don’t have all the best large schools in Georgia, we’ve got most of them,” Hunter said.

Fourteen teams. Valdosta and Colquitt County. Tucker getting baptized by Region 7-AAAAAA right off the bat. Archer instead of Grayson from 8-AAAAAA. But then newcomers Sandy Creek playing up. Sounds to be quite an event.
