Collins Hill 48, Alpharetta 0

For the Collins Hill Eagles, it was just another game, against another team named the Raiders, and another blowout. Except this time it was against host Alpharetta, it was a shutout in the second round of the playoffs and now they’re in the quarterfinals for the third time in school history, winning 48-0 on Friday at Raiders field.

The Eagles (11-1), a No. 2 seed out of Region 7, will host McEachern for a trip to the semifinals.

The Eagles’ defense was seemingly flawless, covering up for the few mistakes the offense made as they combined to dominate Alpharetta (9-3) from start to finish.

“We’re very motivated right now,” said Trevahn Sensabaugh, whose interception late in the second half all but put the Raiders away early. “We just want to shut out all the teams throughout the playoffs and do the best we can.”

The Eagles’ defense forced Alpharetta to punt its first five possessions and built a 14-0 lead in the meantime. The Eagles threw two interceptions to keep the Raiders in the mix, but the defense held.

Then, with five minutes left in the first half, Collins Hill put the game out of reach. Sensabaugh grabbed Collins Hill’s first interception of the game and returned it 42 yards to the Raiders’ 19, leading to Tyler Henderson’s 24-yard touchdown reception from Tyler Herman to give the Eagles a 21-0 lead. Codi Russell then picked off the Raiders on Alpharetta’s next possession, and the Eagles again capitalized with another Herman-to-Henderson touchdown, this one for 19 yards, giving Collins Hill a 28-0 halftime lead.

It was smooth sailing from there, as the Eagles forced a running clock in the fourth quarter for the second game in a row. Last week in the first round, they defeated the Walton Raiders, 41-7.

Herman finished 16-of-21 for 254 yards and four touchdown passes. Henderson caught three passes for 62 yards and two touchdowns and rushed for 145 yards and two scores on 18 carries.

The Eagles are now on a six-game win streak, outscoring opponents 304-83 during the run.

“We’re all starting to peak at the right time,” Eagles coach Kevin Reach said. “We’ve got everyone doing what they need to do and it’s all coming together. … We’re going to enjoy this win and then get back to work on Sunday. It doesn’t really matter who we play, we’re just going to keep doing what we’re doing.”

That is just a beat down! Wow CH is rolling! Running clock in the 4th quarter of both playoff games? Offense is on point and Def pitches a shutout to a potent Raiders offense. This team is going to be hard to beat if they keep playing like this.

Well done Eagles! What a dominating performance on both sides of the ball. CH is a legitimate contender for State Champion this year.

Losing the region coin toss didn’t matter. You get another home game. Make some noise in Suwanee!!

Go Eagles!!!

As a Collins Hill football parent, I just want to give major props to the folks in Alpharetta for the great hospitality they showed our fans last evening. Very friendly and helpful! The PA announcer was most gracious when the game ended by wishing our team continued success in the playoffs. Thank you and I hope your program can build off the great success you had this year!

I know the paper had Collins Hill by 22, but where were your fans Raiders? We over flowed the visitors stands……. But will say, everyone was very nice and had great things to say to us after the game.

it always amazes me how polite CH parents are after their games. Also very gracious and eager to give praise when it is warranted. Some of the most respectful fans in GA!

Wow, some folks on this board actually picked Alpharetta to beat Collins Hill by 6 points. Alpharetta was very a overrated team from a very weak region in 6A football. This was their first real test against a real team, and well the results speak for themselves. Would love to see the complete stats from the game. North Fulton teams will not complete against much larger 6A schools with 3000+ student enrollments and with sketchy enrollment policies like North Gwinnett and Norcross with their starters living in St Marlo in South Forsyth and another across the street from Northview High School in Johns Creek. Would be interesting to see if both of those schools make the finals with ineligible players and how GHSA handles that.

@7AAAAAA Thanks for recognizing what we “try” to do as nothing more than the example and leadership of Coach Reach and what he insist from him players and parents. Not always perfect, but nice to see that it acknowledged. The fans of Alpharetta were actually some of the most cordial I have encountered. Seeing our fans and the band packed in on the visitor side helped make it look like Max participation!
