Maxwell Ratings: Ranking all 412 teams; Region 6-AAAAA is adjusted upward

Here are the Maxwell Ratings through the first round of the state playoffs.

Maxwell writes: ”As with every year, the inter-regional play created by the playoffs has caused some significant shuffling in the ratings as teams with relatively isolated schedules are finally more connected to the rest of the state.

”Without doing a thorough analysis, I suspect the biggest changes were caused by Region 6-AAAAA’s impressive showing against Region 8-AAAAA, specifically Stephenson’s routing of Flowery Branch, Mays’ defeat of Clarke Central and Gainesville’s lackluster defeat of M.L. King in terms of margin of victory.

”Tucker shot up from No. 7 to No. 3 in AAAAA, which seems more in line with what Tucker has done historically. Also, since Buford’s rating is strongly tied to Gainesville’s performance, the domino effect is that Buford’s rating was pulled down by nearly a touchdown.

”Still, Buford remains one of the top teams in the state.”

CL = Ranking in classification. OV = Ranking in all classifications. W-L = record. RAT = Rating. SOS = Strength of schedule.

I agree with Maxwell. Buford is probably one of the top college teams in the state now that the DAWGS and GT are not doing so hot !

How bittersweet for Mill Creek. Ranked #8 in their classification, and not in the playoffs. They do NOT deserve this.

These maxwell ratings don’t mean Diddly Squat! They predicted 6-AAAAA would go 1-3 games last week. They went 3-1. Glad the games are played on the field and not a computer!

Read these blogs for far too long without saying anyhting because we plan to do our talking on the field.

Creekside been talking too much on here about when they get to the dome and how they will beat up on Gainsville when they meet in the dome. I guess the rest of the teams especially us at Harris need not show up. Our boys didnt get here by being scared of anybody. Not Gaincville Steve, not Bh and certainly not Creekside Noles. Keep saying out one side of your mouth you are taking this one game at a time and on the other side talking about when you get to the dome.

AJC and Gainsville might cosign your thinking, but we don’t. Let’s settle this thing on the field at your house Friday night.

AJC and the Maxwell dude got it right again!!

2013 5A State Championship game:

Gainesville Red Elephants vs. Creekside Noles

The two best teams in 5-A in the state. They will advertise it as the game of the century and Creekside will keep it close with all of those athletes they have, but the high-powered Gainesville offense will finally run them into submission mid way through the second quarter. It will be worse than the beating Ware got on national TV.

Creekside we gon take care of every varmint and faker on this side of the bracket. You take care of your pretenders on that side. The only one you might have to play hard against is Kell. They are kinda soft, but are relentless. The rest, Stephenson, Harris and North Paulding are jokes

@itsonlywrite, move past the defeat at the hands of your team relative to MLK. We have.

No excuses from this side or anyone else in 6A from any blog or comment I have read thus far.

My recollection of the game suggests that both MLK and Gainesville played in the same conditions last Friday. Gainesville was the better team that night and deserved the win. We extend our outmost congratulations to Gainesville. Our season is over.

You should focus your efforts on your next opponent and redirect your concerns there as opposed to MLK and Region 6. If and when you have to face Region 6 again, someone from our region might speak out about your team…..until then…..One of us (MLK) is done for the year and focused only on how we get the best academically out of these young men. The other 3 are not facing your team or anyone from your region. Place your interest where it serves you best at the moment.

This Maxwell guy is am alright feller! I Gainesville-Sleeze is jumping the gun again. Gainesville HAS to win, Stephenson HAS to win, and Creekside HAS to win all in order to come one week closer to your prediction. If I were you, I would put the chickens down, wash your ol’ nasty hands, and watch some more film of those Spartans. South Paulding is coming for you. Keep talking over them and come Friday, you’re not going to be able to shut up about em’. Chandler Burkes is going to play lights out against the number 1 QB in the nation and allllll of those scouts are going to say the same thing, who’s this kid and where in the world did he come from.

North Paulding’s ranking @ 6th is right about where I thought we would end up. These rankings mean nothing as the bracket will sort the mess out come Friday. I hope you’re ready Gainesville-Sleeze, after Friday I predict you’ll be MIA, back to pluckin’ feathers and wishin’ ya’ll we still playing!

A question for you sir…

How is 3-7 Parkview ranked ahead of 5-5 Shiloh??
The Generals beat the Panthers & have a better record by 2 games…
Yet they are ranked ahead 89th & 98th respectively..

Thanks

If all those team you totally dissed above are what you say they are…..

What does that make the Red Elephants your second game of the season??? O did you forget the TOTAL DOMINATION rendered Gainesville by the howling Wolves just south of you?
T-was a (pardon the pun) a Walk N da Park vs your (pardon the pun, once again) Mighty Team.. Not even close, well, before kick-off it was 0-0…..

@TuckerD – Hope your sources are correct, “MLK petition to move up” and Stephenson will follow. This will be GOOD for DeKalb football, from revenues and logical rivalries. It’s been in the making, Tucker, Stephenson, & MLK, DeKalb’s football programs to play yearly against each other. Since 2012, these matchups were destiny and shouldn’t be dissolve for the better meant of the county and its HS football fans. It would be exciting for DeKalb’s BIG Cats (Tigers, Jaguars, & Lions) in a region with the Wildcats of Lovejoy – that would be something special for football fans to see – “Can you say ATHETES everywhere”. (LOL)

Sportsnut – DeKalb may be on the way! DeKalb/Clayton would benefit from this alignment with both counties having similar profiles… 12 Oaks & Halliford OFF THE CHAIN!!!!!!

North Paulding over Stephenson – PC’s don’t lie, especially not about this matchup. Quit considering Stephenson. You are NOT in the 20% that it gets wrong. The only part wrong about this matchup is the fact that Stephenson WILL lose and by a larger margin than 7 points. Beleed dat!

itsonlywrite -to my understanding they are appealing to move up. Well see what happens, with Gwinnett continuing to build High Schools there maybe an additional classification in the future or they may go with what was discussed once having 6A 1 & 6A 2 one for small populated schools and the other with 2300 plus students.

@Swamp Lizard: I was able to duplicate your problem on an older version of Internet Explorer. You might consider either making sure you have the most current version or using a different browser.

At any rate, here’s the original article as it ran (unfortunately, all of the formatting will be lost, but the data is there):

CLASS A PRIVATE

- Eagle’s Landing Christian dominates the Class A-Private bracket more than any other GHSA team in any other bracket. They are more than 19 points better than number two Mount Pisgah Christian and have the easiest draw, almost four points lighter than Mount Pisgah Christian’s, the second easiest. In the simulation they advanced to the semifinals 91.2% of the time, the finals 84.0% of the time, and won the championship 76.1% of the time.

- If Eagle’s Landing Christian is eliminated, there are seven other teams with a greater than 1% chance of winning the championship. Although Mount Pisgah Christian tops those teams with an 8.4% chance, the following six are all relatively close, all rated within about a field goal of each other and each having between a 1.2% and 3.3% chance of winning.

- There is a 42.4% chance Eagle’s Landing Christian and Prince Avenue Christian will play a rematch of last year’s championship game in the semifinals.

- If the Class A brackets were extended to play one more round to accommodate a championship game between the A-Public and A-Private winner, there would be a 79.2% chance a team representing the private bracket would win the championship. However, the bulk of the private school championship victories would be concentrated in Eagle’s Landing Christian, who would have a 67.7% chance of being the overall Class A champion. Seminole County, the Class A-Public favorite in the simulation, would have an 11.4% chance of winning the title. There would be a 26.7% chance the two would play in the hypothetical Class A combined championship.

Creekside Always

At Creekside we know our destiny is in the dome this year.
We have the right coach at the right time and these players are probably the best in the state.
We definitely have the fastest football player in this state…………..BAR NONE!!
Our defense can compete with some of your smaller colleges.
Harris is just a stepping stone. North Paulding will just be a stepping stone.
If Stephenson (Big If) even gets by North, that is the game we all want here because then we get to show the rest of Georgia where the REAL athletes are. I dont see a team in 5A that will compete with us. Our coach knows that and the team knows that.

But we arent on here like the rst of you’ll who spend your lives here. We are working hard with our eye on the top. Doing it for Duece!!

@G-Ville Steve, stop talking about meeting us in the dome. Trust me when I tell you, that is the last thing you should be wishing for. This team is STACKED on both sides of the vall and will make your D-Watson and whoever else you have your mancrushes on look like they just picked this game up yesterday.

GO NOLES!!!! The Destined 2013 5A State Champs (AJC and Maxwell have seen the light)
