Which Georgia high school has the largest enrollment? (Answer Wednesday)

Answer to Monday’s question: The youngest Gwinnett County school to win a state championship in football was Peachtree Ridge in 2006. The school opened in 2003.

COACH SPEAK

“The six W’s: Work Will Win When Wishing Won’t.”

GHSF Daily asked coaches during the offseason if they have a favorite quote, saying or motto. We’ll run a different one each day. Coaches are invited to add to our list.

How will the regions be sorted next season? Ex: will a team in 7-AAA that moves up automatically be in 7-AAAA?

Hope Coffee Co will play where they suppose to play in AAAAA…some AAAAAA schools have 1000 students more than we do. Its not fair to our kids to play up just to please a few locale x-player fans. Kids should come first Mr. Supt and Board members.

I don’t understand you have schools with 3700 kids and you have Lee county with 1800 kids. Is this fair? Not at all, you really need a 7A or 6A and a 6B. This just not fair at all.

This is going to be interesting as there are some whole new areas of GA that will be getting into 6A. Lee County is going into Region 1 and Coffee and Brunswick are coming out. What to do with Effingham county (Region 1?) and Evans and Richmond Hill in Augusta? These schools are over 100 miles from any other 6A schools. Regions 2 and 3 will have to take on the additional net 4 new schools. My guess is that Lakeside, and the 2 Augusta schools will go into Region 2 which will lose Druid Hills and Morrow to become an 8 team region. Tucker may also move into this region as the lone DeKalb school in 6A.

Region 3 will lose Tri-Cities, but will have to add 3-4 south cobb schools such as South Cobb, Pebblebrook, McEachern, Hillgrove. Region 4 will take on Osborne, North Paulding and maybe Woodstock and Etowah. Pope will go to Region 5 along with one from Region 6 such as Centennial as Northview will move into Region 6. Regions 7 and 8 should remain the same until the monster school opens for Berkmar/Central Gwinnett with 6000 students in 2015. How does Lee County like that!
