Sandy Creek beat Cedartown 63-10. Chubb was a flub. Pretty sure he didnt get 100 yds and for sure he didnt get a TD.

While Chubb has some talent and will play at Georgia, he and his teammates clearly had not played the level of competition they saw tonight. Creek’s front 7 took Chubb out of the game completely, gang tackled and controlled the line of scrimmage. SC’s offense did what they do. SC did not punt all night. Scored on every possession. Actually was disappointed it was not a more competitive game.

Well lets see what the Region 5AAAA haters have to say now? Carrollton 52-10 Dominates. Sandy Creek 63-10 Dominates. Alexander beats a #1 seed on the road 13-10. Well like I said before Carrollton is that good. Sandy Creek is that much better than everybody else. Carrollton and Sandy Creek will meet in the Dome again. We are the only team that can compete with them. Now nick chubb felt what we have to feel every year!. Go Trojans We will meet and bdeat Sandy Creek In the Dome. Next week Carrollton 58 Monroe area 14

Congrats to Gilmer Co on their win over Troup Co tonight, 26-22!!!!!!! Awesome game. Both teams played great. Johnny Flakes steals the show again. TD, blocked punt, Interception and numerous tackles. Awesome job buddy. Tyler Bertolini and Austin Cole just drove the game on both sides of the ball. Great game Coach Tank.

Alexander for sure has the athletic talent to compete with anyone, question is will the coaching cost them. The are winning in spite of the Head Coach. Give Alexander a decent football minded coach and they would be in the hunt every year.

@trojan power – I am with you regarding the football played in Region 5-AAAA. Hope to see Carrollton at the Dome versus SC. Expect Trojans to put a smack down on the Purple Hurricanes next week – in their house. Creek should handle Chestatee with not much trouble. That should move Region 8-AAAA into their BBall season!

trojan power region 5AAAA FOOTBALL is better than 7AAAA maybe the trojans might make it to the dome but you are wrong saying that the trojans can compete with sandy creek the trojans are not close to compete with sandy creek they have been blown out two years in a row by this team on national TV. where did they compete? ALL the trojans did in those two games was show up lol. sandy creek is a smash mouth football team the wing-teague can’t compete with them if they meet again sandy will put up 30points on them and the trojans will be LUCKY to score.

yawner, once again you show your lack of wisdom without realizing that Griffin may have a say in your lackluster fallacy. Griffin has earned its spot in the State rankings, and the mighty Bears are the 2nd Best team in AAAA. Carrollton is good, but Griffin could smoke them. The Bears defense would FEAST on the trojans as a snack.

Trojan fans, yall crack me up when yall make statements like trojans 56 monroe area 14. Monroe will score against yall and put points up on the board. Monroe’s test will be the D and special teams. From what i have seen that is their weakness. But let me assure you all carrollton faithful dont think yall will come into the pit and shut monroes Offense down bc thats not going to happen.

Everyone is tired about hearing how good Carrollton is. They are a good football team but when they play teams like SC they take a beatdown. It was an embarrassing loss to SC when they could only total 88 yards. If they get lucky and make it to the dome they should go ahead and forfiet to SC as it is obvious they can’t beat them not even close.

@bear_backer, you can get mad if you want too but Griffin is not the 2nd best team. Don’t kid yourself, you have not earned it. Carrollton has beaten better competition. The only reason y’all are #2 is because you don’t play in region 5. If you did you would also have a loss to the creek and be sitting back around #5 or so, Carrollton is the #2 here. You can be a homer and go with your team but I can be unbiased and spit the truth.

Carrollton’s D-fense will definitely test MA. MA will not run up and down the field, especially if they are run heavy and cannot throw the ball. If MA’s weaknesses are Defense and Special Teams, then this one will be back and forth. I hope they show it on TV. SC vs Chestatee with a 7:30 start time should be over by 8:30 pm.

You can not run the ball on Carrollton. U can only beat them with a great passing game. And play action. So if Stanley truit is not accurate with his arm. They will lose big. Because they will not stop Carrolltons offence. Our Uga commit Dontavius Russell has the run game shut down!!So Monroe Area with good luck with scoring 60. Cause your gonna have to. To beat Carrollton.

Face the facts-Monroe Area WILL run the ball on Carrollton-they have 2 outstanding athletes in the qb and rb. Carrollton will need to put a lot of points on the board to win-and no Carrollton could not beat SC in a rematch. Bear Backer-you probably need to worry more about Griffin than Carrollton at this point-if you still can boast 2 weeks from now we will listen. Also did Dalton play without their leading rusher? Congrats for Carrollton’s defense who played without 2 starting linebackers.

MA throws the ball as well, NOT JUST RUN. Carrollton’s D fence will be based off their secondary. How good is their ath behind the front line? That will be a huge part of how MA does on O. It will be a good ball game, i think MA will surprise Carrollton in a dog fight

But 2 players are not going to beat Carrollton. Only great coaching. I predicted a Carrollton Easy win 58-10 yesterday to u same blotters. Same prediction next week. Do Monroe Area have Size or just a couple of atheletic players?

Monroe has about 10 athletic players. Some size up front but they have played size in chestatee lanier and banneker and held better than i expected up front. Like i stated before what does carrollton have behind their front line? Thats going to play big roll in this ball game. I like this matchup with Carrollton for monroe. Carrollton will not hold monroe to 10 points that i can assure.

@the MA fans and coaches the ingredient to stop the wing-teague stay discipline and hit the gaps blow up the jet run make them pass they only have one pass read and you will be in the game if you intercept one pass wing-teague will RUN the rest of the night you can count on that you will scare him to death pick off 2 passes wing-teague will pack it up for the night.

All these games will come down to coaching. If MA coaching staff watches Carrollton game film. They could easily find a way to win. Its all about matchup. If Tony Romo(Teague) trys to coach Friday. Carrollton will be playing basketball in two weeks. SC, Griffin and teams of that caliber has good coaching staffs. Until those politicians decide to go out and bring in a real coach. Carrollton will always be second tier to the higher coached teams. I believe there will more upsets next week. Lets sit back and enjoy the games.

@yawner. @ Just A Fan… I never said I was mad, nor did I portend (not pretend) to be in my statement. Griffin is not worried about Carrollton anyway. I still think the Trojans will get knocked out. Griffin is good, but LIKE Carrollton, they can’t match up against Sandy Creek, just like I have stated before. I do hope Griffin gets a modicum of revenge against Statesboro though, as the Bears have lost to them every time they met. This time the Blue Devils have to come to our house….and they will find out how we do it in the house!!!! GO BEARS!!

I guess its the nature of these blogs to continue to focus on The Creek. They came in and cleaned our clock. Wasn’t even close. We’d be glad for another shot at them but there are too many games and good teams to worry about now.

A lot has been said about who’s the best team in AAAA. I would agree at this time Sandy Creek gets the nod. They are the defending champs in AAAA and supposedly has the toughest schedule in the classification. It’s a shame that they will have to play Griffin in the third round because that game will pit the two best teams in AAAA against each other. They are both multi-dimensional on offense and each have solid defenses. And folks, defense is what wins ballgames- no matter what level- high school, college or the pros. Carrollton can score (runs well but no real passing game) but a good defense shuts them down as evidenced by the loss to SC. Monroe Area is very good offensively (ability to pass and run) but defense is soft. All of the other teams remaining either lack a well-rounded offense or a solid defense to win it all. So take note everyone, the championship game in AAAA will be on 11-29-13 between Griffin and Sandy Creek!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

@Zachary Piercy – you sir, have hit the nail on the head. I concur wholeheartedly and also know for the SC vs Griffin game to happen, Griffin must take care of business against a stout Statesboro team looking to roll in to Griffin with an attitude. Its high time the Mighty Bears settled the score against those (so-called) Blue Devils. SC will roll against Chestatee at the Battlefield over in Tyrone. One thing I will add is after watching Griffin start sluggish against Rutland, they better bring their A game this weekend against Statesboro. My guess on sleeper teams for AAAA: Left side of Bracket – Lanier and Veterans. Right side: Mary Persons, Marist & possibly the winner of the Westover-Stockbridge matchup. @bigdawg: NO ONE is sleeping on those Bears from Burke buddy. All true fans know you have revenge on your minds steeping from last year. I went to that game you guys payed against Creek. It is clear that Burke has landed in the easiest quadrant of the brackets this year, while Griffin and Carrollton have landed in the 2 toughest ones. GO GRIFFIN BEARS!!!

Old Bear

November 17th, 2013
2:53 am

If Griffin plays Statesboro the same way they did against Rutland the game won’t be close, and the Bears will have a loss pinned on them @ home. Ten penalties and a lack of offensive imagination may work on teams like Rutland, but there won’t be any 5 yard TD drives on Statesboro. I’m a big Griffin fan, but they will get dusted if they don’t bring their “A” game this week. They should have scored at least 3 more times against Rutland. Sloppy, sloppy win…

Old Bear

I said it elsewhere – Wayne County should be ashamed if they don’t make the semifinals. They will not have to play a single ranked team in their bracket. With teams like Veterans and Lanier in that bracket, too, they should be able to control their destiny for a couple of more games.

1) I still thnk SC is the best team in the State regardless of classification. Admittedly I have not seen them this year but remember seeing them dominate in last year’s state championship with mostly underclassmen. Would love to see them play Buford, probably the 2nd best team regardless of class.
2) Disappointed but not surprised the other three 6AAAA teams lost. Decent athletes but horrible coaching, no discipline, and weak kicking games, especailly Carver. There’s no excuse for a team not to have a decent long-snapper and a punter that can kick at least a 30-yard net punt; same with extra points and short field goals.
3) Don’t know anything about Gilmer County other than they’re a number 2 seed. Marist’s offense can move the ball as always but the D is weak against the pass this year; a balanced attack will give us trouble.
Go War Eagles!

Sandy creek are the favorites four sure but they play the games on the field not on paper or on blogs at this point everybody thinks there team can win a championship. Everybody (not just carrollton) needs to focus on the next round because upsets do happen. Should be a good game between Carrollton and Monroe area both offenses are explosive should be a high scoring game. Statesbroro is flying under the radar a little bit that’s a dangerous game for griffin you guy really can’t look ahead. A couple of team that I’ve notice that could make some noise before this is over with veterans have a good defense westover upset cairo for the region 1AAAA title and wayne co looks really good when I saw them I see why burke co and statesbroro had a tough time with them good looking football team.
