Griffin has a rough draw, but it IS the playoffs. And there are plenty of really good teams in this classification. Good luck to all (when you aren’t playing Griffin) and I hope everyone can stay injury-free.

Isn’t Cedartown the region 7, #4 seed playing Sandy Creek in first round? NW Whitfield is region 7, # 3 seed.

How can NW Whitfield have two games, and Cedartown is not listed! Lol

NW Whitfield is the #3 seed from 7AAAA. Thanks to the region playoff system NWW who lost 1 game by 3 points to the region winner wound up as the #3 seed. They travel to Carrollton Friday. SC will score at will against Cedartown who went from top 10 ranking to #4 seed in 2 weeks.

Cedartown is the 4th smallest school in AAAA. and they finished the regular season at 9-1 and a #4 seed. 11 teams in 7 AAAA and they can’t play/vote on a full region schedule for football. 7 AAAA-A has 5 teams and 7 AAAA-B has 6 teams. I know the coaches vote (region/sub region), but the GHSA has had some crazy regions set ups over the last 10 years for Cedartown. Driving from Cedartown to Ridgeland was/is bad, but Cedartown to Columbus and Shaw would have been worse.

I agree with the region set-ups, and with some of the playoff seedings processes. Recently, Griffin has been paired up with both the Macon area schools and the Columbus area schools – neither of those districts are really nearby. And it’s amazing that a team that went undefeated over the first 9 games of the regular season could possibly be eliminated from state playoff contention by a regional “play-in” game. Like I said before, maybe someone can explain the system to me. It’s possible that I’m misinterpreting how it works, at least for Region 4AAAA. It sounds like Region 7AAAA does it the same way, too, Thankfully, the teams in Griffin’s region make geographical sense now.

Go Canes…Even with 7 First strring players out, they overcame a good Chestatee Team and won Region 8 with second string Players. Watch out 4 A Powerhouses, a new Powerhouse team is on the rise.

You guys all need to be ready for Veterans. Only a three year old school and they have already won a region championship. These guys play the likes of some top notch 5A teams. Northside-Warner Robins, and Warner Robins These guys play tough! Be ready for them…

Hey Snook, Cedartown can only blame itself. It petitioned to be in this region because it didn’t want to be in Region 5.

Would not surprise me if 7AAAA gets swept in the first round. 5AAAA looks pretty stout.

Cedartown-Sandy Creek is no contest of course;Troup Co-Gilmer could produce an upset;Dalton will be heavily favored over Alexander although Alexander should be able to put points on the board;Carrollton favored over NW Whitfield-a loss here and I will join the crowd questioning the effectiveness of the coaching staff-not just the head but the whole staff.
