Henry Co. is the 4 seed in region 2

It would seem that Callaway would not be playing the 2-8 Jackson Red Devils out of Region 2-AAA, but rather it is likely Callaway will instead face the 3-7 Henry Warhawks from region 2-AAA in the first round.

SPX may have the last laugh — while playing on the road is hard, the region 6 Nos. 1 & 2 may have a harder time making it out of their part of the bracket (BT is in bracket with WACO and Woodward is with Buford).

WarEagle…. Buford dont care who or ware they play because we’re 24 pts better than any body in 3A

BufWolvesDen…you are what’s wrong with sports today. Always bigger and badder. Glad you are so humble, and per chance, you may, hopefully, have to eat those words in the playoffs. I will now pull for anybody playing Buford.

Buford should be playing at least 5A ball! Picking on those little boys like that, have you no shame!!!! LOL!

@Foghhorn Leghorn – thank you for reminding everyone of this!!! And I think we should help Buford remember 2011 – CALHOUN !!! Everybody thought Buford was unbeatable that year too, everyone was all ready to crown Buford the greatest team in Georgia History then Calhoun showed up and saved the day. Calhoun showed the rest of the world that at the end of the day, “HEART” matters more. Buford is beatable in the playoffs. Buford’s program is NOT homegrown, it’s a cherrypick team of Gwinnett County All-Stars playing on the 1st String and then the actual Buford kids backing up on 2nd and 3rd String and we all know that. That’s fine, great, well-coached, and disciplined programs like BT, Woodward, SPX, Cartersville, WACO, Carver-Columbus, they are all capable of beating Buford. NOT INTIMIDATED.

@kman – don’t worry about Buford. When you look at their entire athletic program wholistically, they can’t compete consistently in the Top 5 in AAA as an entire Athletic Program. Last year was the first year Buford even cracked the Top 5 in the Director’s Cup but most years, they barely crack the Top 10. Their non-football sports are starting to adopt the football model of cherrypicking athletes from around Gwinnett, so they are improving, but that model will not last long as it does not build chemistry and true community which is what HS sports is all about. See the “Boyd” experiment at Milton HS for basketball, see how that went down. Buford’s no different.

Of course any team is beatable, including Buford. Hats off to Calhoun for doing what they had to do a couple of years ago. You don’t need to be intimidated but you do need to be informed. Buford accepts the out of city kids that apply and meet the academic standards required. Very good players want to play for us because our coaching, facilities and the community are top notch and we are successful. Try not to be hater, it makes you look small.
Hey my brother, BufWolvesDen, we did learn how to spell at Buford :-)

10:39 am

BTHomerDad, you are totally wrong about Buford community. If you had been here in the last couple of years when we lost 3 athletes to sudden deaths, you would have seen what true community is all about. Don’t be a hater, it only makes you look small. It’s not our fault that the kids want to play at Buford.

November 9th, 2013

Why should buford have to play up when we have the same amount of kids as the rest of 3A

November 9th, 2013

BWD, anytime you are successful, it will bring out jealousy and the haters. They are not stupid, they are just ignorant of their subject matter. Haters gonna hate, that’s what they do.

Have a great day in the neighborhood everybody :-)

BT Dad –

THe enrollment of Buford id about the same as BT… BT cherry picks whomever WANTS to attend your school….

When you are ZERO wins & 5 brutal losses & getting gangbanged by a team that has approx. (Buford has 908 students) the same student base, one can see the reason to be a hater..

But instead of Hate, you should Appreciate…
Composite scores between said teams in 5 meetings???

36 – 5

Your program should work harder & not bash the one you cannot compete with…

Oh it’s ok for other fans to talk there team but not us, if not us then who. You don’t understand the Buford Culture, it’s a Culture of Winning. You’ll who the price our young men pay Mon-Thurs to do what they do on Friday Night, so excuse us for our enthusiastic attitude for our players, our coaches, our fan, and our community. It’s A Buford Thing once again “If You Build It They Will Come” People Gravitate To Winners Not Losers I’m just saying the train is pulling out of the station get on and enjoy the experience there is still time for that change of understanding a different look at another Culture, to get outside the box, Buford Nation I Love Me Some Buford, just saying ” I’m All In” Go Buford Wolves Win State just a Proud Dad

For some really good banter, look at the AAAAA board… Flowery Branch & Gainesville ribbing each other about how great their programs are with the peeps from Stephenson, Tucker, MLK…

It’s all good there. Heck, they are even talking of meeting up for pregame BBQ… They talk their teams up & in a good ole fashion way….. Not the snoody BT way….

I had some great banter on here last year going into the SPX game w some of their fans…

Others on here believe since SPX lost by 7, that they WON the game… (not a flame at the SPX fans I was bantering with!)

@Buford 78, WolfDawg, and all other Buford folks – I was born yesterday but not last night ! Get real. Please don’t disrespect my intelligence. Anyone who has been in the state of GA for longer than a day knows what Buford is doing and is all about. Your head FB coach came from Marietta who used the same freaking recruiting model as you all do now. Get the City of Buford to pay for all of the facilities (they are not yours), and then open up enrollment on a “select” basis for a nominal charge to students throughout the largest county (size and athlete wise) in GA. Your football “dominance” is recent within the last decade. You won one measly FB Championship in 78 after being a school since 48. BT has only been open since 2000 and will win several before 30 years. Not sure where you are getting composite scores but I should remind you of the 14-10 score vs. BT in 2009 where you got a homer call to beat BT at your house. Your OVERALL athletic program is no where near the caliber of BT’s, SPX and Woodward – go check the Director’s Cup website for the last 15 years and more. Calhoun beat you in the 2011 final because they are a true community team like BT with Chemistry, with Heart, and with kids who play for each other not do what Buford does which is to bring their hardcore talent from outside the city limits so they can come to get noticed, get a D1 Scholarship, and then go off to college and underperform. Calhoun’s “system” kids beat Buford’s recruits…greatest victory of all time in GA History if you asked me. I am with kman and Foghorn – anyone and everyone, let’s pull for those teams to beat Buford !!!

If you have 2-8, 3-7 teams in the playoffs, why compete?

November 9th, 2013
6:52 pm

you compete 1) because you can and 2) one extra week of practice

November 9th, 2013
10:26 pm

BTHomer…lay offf the “director’s cup” goodness it includes an array of sports many public school ’s can barely afford much less compete at. I’m a WA dad , BT is a new school, relatively inexpensive for a private school in a wealthy area that attracts well seasoned athletes, can pay for better coaching, equipment and facilities. I suspect there is a mechanism for “scholarships” and the like. Perhaps Oprah is shifting her allegiance form Pace! Let us all hope that BT looses early, so that the BT dad can begin to concentrate on the GOLF team…..
Buford has positioned itself as a “minor” league for D1 colleges, families know that and move to area. BT dad, beat them on the field and THEN start talking….

BTHomerDad and others against Buford,
Seriously you need to get your information straight – most of the boys that start have been playing for Buford since they in elementary! I have tons of pictures to prove it and all the players that have stuck with it all these years are on 1st string. So, all your recruiting talk is NOT true! We do have few tuition students at Buford and they come for various reasons. Mostly for small class sizes and academics since we were rated as one of the top schools in the South Academically. Players that come to Buford are not recruited but they want to come because of the great program and since of community. Our coaches and boys work so Hard and you should know that if you know anything about football training… It takes the whole team to win and not 1 or 2 players that happen to be from outside the city limits. We should cheer for All the teams playing… Not the ones playing against Buford! Really? These boys work so hard and deserve to win…they love the game! We all do! Please come to a game…we would Love to have you…you would look good in Green:)

Wow; things getting really heated! Oh, well Cville Canes are focused on West Hall and with a win looking to be prepared for Hart or St Pius. Buford better be looking for a battle vs N Oconee or Woodward in round two. If we or any other team including Buford can be caught slipping if we do bring the A game. A see a lot of dangerous teams in the playoffs iutside of the top three rated teams; Buford, Cville and WACO, so we shall see because no matter what the fans do the players better not overlook the lower seeded teams. Go Canes!!!! # CANESNATION!!!

Buford fan:

So no coaches have never had any contact with any of the students before enrolling in Buford telling them of the virtues of paying smallish tuition to come to Buford?

I’m looking for some swampland.

Look people….(and especially @BufWolvesDen)….by this time, the cat is out of the bag. Buford region and state titles are all bought. They are essentially worthless in the grand scheme of things and that cannot be debated. Anyone, over time, could build an empire if they were playing on the same grounds as the “pay-as-you-go” schools like Buford in a county the size of Gwinnett. Sad part is, all of the players that come through there have no concept of this….all they want to do is play ball for the most part…they dont realize that all of their victories are purchased. Sad.

Wow! Had to chime in on this Buford bashing. For all the persons that believe Buford has scouts and recruits players, put up or shut up! I’ve heard that for a long time now and there has never been any proof. I’m sure that GHSA would like to hear from you. Don’t forget Calhoun’s QB from the 2011 team was related to the Calhoun coach but was a transfer, so what? The Buford school facilities were paid for by who? The people of Buford? What a scandal. So, if an outstanding athlete comes to one of your schools and wants to attend and pay tuition, I am sure he would be turned away. Your teams are 100% born and raised in district. Please. There are more students that pay tuition that go to Buford that are not playing sports than playing. I have 2 children at Buford. I know.

According to several of the commenters this should nullify Calhoun’s win over Buford in 2011.

Wow!! Its_Clear you don’t see the whole picture sir, there some people who love a winner, and there are people like you who just love to hate you sit around and make excuses for this and excuses for that, they are bought buy sweat hard work and the love of the community the love of parents, coaches, grandparents, aunts, uncles, cousins, and other relative, you’re right there is a price to be paid, and it’s a special sacrifice by special people to do that and beleive me it’s not for everyone. until your able to step up like this like these people, step back and appreciate what community is all about sir, turst me ‘WE THE PEOPLE OF BUFORD LOVE OUR PROGRAM AND CHILDREN’ AND BOY I LOVE ME SOME BUFORD, GO WOLVES SEE YOU ALL AT THE DOME, BUFORD SOUTH I MUST SAY LOL

Congratulations to each of the teams who have worked hard to reach the playoffs. As a parent of a varsity player, I see first hand what it takes to develop a championship team. Our family moved to Buford in 2011 from NC after visiting my parents over the years. We were in awe of the Buford community and the dedication shown by those associated with the schools here. Our football coaches, players and devoted parents put in countless hours to receive recognition for a game well played.
Once again, congratulations to all of these young men!!

Thank God For Georgia High School Football. God keep our student athletes safe and healthy. Help them to grow mentally, physically, and spiritually as the play along this part of the young life. Let their friends be many and their enemies be few. Teach them Lord to be like you. Winning is fine but some have to loose but let them both remember to play for the truth, honour, always to give their best and at the end it was just a GAME and to have fun Playing.

Interesting stuff – Calhoun and Cartersville are city schools, no need for them to bash Buford.
BTW, I have a home in Buford for sale or rent… LOL
CALHOUN, Ga. — The past 12 months have been a whirlwind for Taylor Lamb.

A year ago at this time he was finishing his sophomore season at Greer High School in Greenville, S.C., spending most of his time at receiver while being groomed as the program’s next quarterback. However, when his father, Bobby Lamb, was fired as head coach at Furman University, what seemed like a clear future became quite cloudy.

All that changed when Bobby Lamb was hired to begin the football program at Mercer University and, wanting his son to be comfortable in a new environment and at the same time continue to progress as an athlete, the natural fit was to let brother Hal be Taylor’s coach.
