Cairo won its 600th game last week in a 35-7 victory over Americus-Sumter. The Syrupmakers have played football since 1922. The school’s victories were researched by Harold Walker for the Cairo Messenger. The all-time ranking of Georgia schools with their victory totals is sketchy. The Georgia High School Football Historians Association has attempted to document all scores through history. Scores are largely complete back to World War II, but those schools with longer histories usually are missing some scores. Here are the schools with the most victories recorded by the GHSFHA. Note that some schools that underwent consolidation (chiefly Lincoln County, Colquitt County, Washington-Wilkes and Americus-Sumter) have separate football histories in GHSFHA records.
