Blessed Trinity 21, St. Pius 20: Conor Davis threw for 113 yards and tossed a pair of scoring strikes to Colin Bradley as Blessed Trinity edged St. Pius. Milton Shelton added 142 yards and a touchdown on 22 carries for the host Titans. St. Pius appeared to have notched a game-tying touchdown in the third quarter, but missed the extra point.
Buford 70, East Hall 6: Buford amassed 497 total yards in its win over visiting East Hall. The Wolves led 35-0 at the half. Junior Evan Cooper rushed for 86 yards in third quarter including two scores. Buford moved to 9-0 on the season headed into their game against White County next week.
Callaway 48, Douglass 7: The visiting Cavaliers wrapped up the Region 4 title in dominating fashion running out to a 41-0 halftime lead. Quarterback Tez Parks blocked the first punt of the game and KeShun Freeman returned it for a 15-yard touchdown. Dre Martin recovered a fumble and took it 40 yards for the score. Terry Godwin scored the first offensive touchdown on a leaping 44-yard bomb from Parks.
Carver-Columbus 44, Peach County 9: Carver-Columbus clinched its seventh consecutive region championship, this one in Region 2-AAA, with a blowout of Peach County. The host Tigers raced to a 30-3 halftime advantage and coasted the rest of the way. They racked up 486 yards of offense and featured a pair of 100-yard runners in Dequindre Coleman (156 yards) and Noah Hickey (109). Hickey scored two touchdowns and Coleman tacked on one. Quarterback Jawon Pass added 76 yards on the ground to go along with one touchdown.
Cartersville 53, Sonoraville 9: In the opening quarter, Brooks Barden threw three of his five touchdown passes and Tiamon Pennymoon ran in the first of his two scores to stake host Cartersville a 30-0 lead. Gordon Gray and TL Ford each caught a pair of touchdown passes and Kalin Heath added a 58-yard touchdown reception.
Decatur 42, McNair 0: Decatur’s all-state linebacker Kyle Kitchens had nine tackles, including three sacks of McNair quarterback Mickey Ridley. Decatur held McNair’s normally potent attack to 144 yards total offense. Decatur quarterback Devontae Carter completed six of eight passes for 194 yards, including two touchdowns to freshman sensation Dennis Bell. Bell’s touchdown receptions went for 32 yards and a stunning over-the-shoulder grab that went for 73.
Jackson-Atlanta 42, Haralson County 27: The visiting Jaguars moved over .500 with their win as Keenan Moore threw for 206 yards on 11 of 17 passing with two touchdowns and three interceptions. He also rushed for 158 yards and two scores. Orenzo Smith had six catches for 175 yards and two scores while coming down with an interception on defense. Also on the defensive side of the ball, Santwan Harris and Leonard Guffie each tallied 10 tackles.
Woodward Academy 17, Cedar Grove 14: Woodward Academy won its fifth game in a row by battling past visiting Cedar Grove. In a matchup between South Carolina commitments Terry Googer of Woodward and Bryson Allen-Williams of Cedar Grove, Allen-Williams forced a Googer fumble in the first half. However, the War Eagles’ quarterback threw a touchdown pass to Jacob Robertson before Elijah Holyfield scored the go-ahead rushing touchdown.
