List/Trivia/Quote: Camden County has most 60-point victories since 1971

Parents in Texas have filed a complaint against a school that won a football game 91-0 last week. The crime? Bullying, they say. We don’t think these schools are guilty of that, but here are the Georgia schools with the most victories by 60 or more points since 1971. Many of these games took place during short dynasty periods of these schools, such as Southeast Bulloch and Mount de Sales in the early 1970s.

14 – Camden County

13 – Buford

13 – Lincoln County

9 – Miller County

9 – Southeast Bulloch

9 – Tucker

9 – Washington County

7 – Dublin

7 – Eagle’s Landing Christian

6 – Carrollton

6 – Dooly County

6 – Greenville

6 – Macon County

6 – Mitchell-Baker/Mitchell County

6 – Mount de Sales

6 – Pacelli

5 – Clinch County

5 – Burke County

5 – Dalton

5 – Gainesville

5 – Jeff Davis

5 – Northside, Warner Robins

5 – Thomas County Central

5 – Warner Robins

Answer to Thursday’s question: Camden County is the Georgia school with the most victories by 60 points or more since 1971 with 14. (See Daily List above)

Actually surprised Valdosta is not on the list….

They beat my alma mater 62-12 in ‘71 & used to roll up many schools back “in the day”

If you are scoring 60 and the freshmen didn’t play, now that’s a bully.

A lot of people don’t realize. If the kids played in the Jr. Varsity game that week they can’t go into the Varsity game until the 3rd quarter. I do wonder how you reach 90 points with a running clock in the fourth quarter

Trojan Fan…The rules were changed a few years ago. Total quarters played resets on Friday morning now. JV can play the entire game on Friday night now but would only be eligible for 2 quarters of JV the following week.

When I saw that article about the TX school, I thought back about the first or second week in this season when two GA teams (Camden and I think, Lowndes) did something like that on the same night. If I remember it right, one was in the 90s and the other in the 80s. Lots of folks complaining then too.

Just looked it up, and was correct. Camden beach Beach 91-6 and Lowndes defeated Windsor Forrest 87-0 Both those games were on a Friday the 13th.

Look they have a running clock. What more do you want? Tell the freshman not to play and take a knee? fumble so the other team can have the ball back for three more downs and than punt?
Not much Camden or anyone else can do when your freshman are better than the senior and juniors are at the other teams school.

It came to nothing. Insufficient evidence to warrant further consideration.

I find that nationally, I think the NFHS would have to have a 50 Point or More “Mercy Rule” like they did in Iowa. I still feel even though the Iowa City Schools Games ended in 50 Point Wins in the 1990s, but, running clocks add nothing but make a bad loss worse. I wouldn’t want 50 or 60 Point Wins nonstop, because we would run into a Central Lee type issue where where there aren’t any Healthy Student Athletes or worse, those who’s academics are on the Straight and Narrow.

I’ve witnessed plenty of games when Carrollton has no players over 160-170 lbs. on the field in the 4th. you can’t ask 9th graders on defense not to make a play. Run the clock, run the ball, and let’em play.

Camden has had a good football program for some time. As a former region 1 player I will point out that Camden has yet to score 60 on anyone in region 1 since they joined and don’t look for that to happen anytime soon.
