@ wolf – it was a heck of a game. The stadium was packed and the rivalry between EC and HC is so thick that you can just feel it in the air! The defense for Elbert County in the second half was unbelievable as Hart’s only score in that frame came against the special teams on a “blocked” punt that traveled over 40 yards somehow and was returned for a TD.

Congrats to Woodward with a solid win over Pius. Lions always over-rated, but our War Eagles can be very proud to stuff them on their home turf.

@AJC/Prepzoane editor. Correction: The touchdown was to TL Ford who wore number 2 in honor of Brandon Long who was out due to injury. Thanks. GO CANES!!!!

Congratulations to all Buford fans, and other north Georgia teams, St. Pius you will rebound I’m sure.

Just would like to inform you Bloggers that the “Son of Waco” and Washington County (WACO) won their first championship since 2006 defeating former perennial powerhouse Thompson last night. I thought WACO was a powerhouse with multiple regional championships as well as state champions from reading “Son of Waco’s” blogs.

Congratulations to him anyway, although his blogs were fraudulent.

@Ron……at least WACO didn’t have to wait from 1968 to 2009 like St. Puis X during their region championship drought…..region championships WACO (13) St. Puis X (6)…..state championships WACO (3) St. Puis X (1) in 1968

Mr.”WAC2000″ how many of the three were AA championships? The word is that during those years WACO were 25 students over the limit that kept Washington County High from being a single A classification by the Georgia high school governing body . If true could you have competed with Lincolton which dominated single A football in that era.

@Ron….WACO is currently less than 50 students over the highest populated AA schools…..so WACO and about 15-20 other AAA schools be AA now…..should the past two AA champions (Jefferson, Calhoun) be in AAA because they are within 50 students of the lowest populated AAA schools…..WACO beat Americus and Carrollton in 96/97 in AA championships…..both schools have more state championships that any true North GA AAA teams….Carrollton won AA in 98….Americus won AA in 00/01….i guess we didnt play and beat any schools worth noting in AA….much respect to Lincoln County program…..I believe WACO would have competed with Lincoln County in the 90s….between 1990 to 1999….state championships WACO (3)….Lincoln County (3)

@Ron…..lets petition to put St.Puis X, Cartersville, and North Hall in AAAA because they are within about 50 students of the lowest populated AAAA schools…..I am sure they would still be super great in AAAA

@WACO and Ron, Yes Sir I second that motion. Let’s go AAAA. Not surprised that WACO is making a run; like I said I see WACO making it to the Semi Finals in the upper right bracket. We just focus on our next two games and not look past anybody because it’s gonna be wild ride! GO CANES # CANESNATION!!!!

Mr.”WACO2000″ don’t understand your rationale, but let me say from AAA all the way thru the higher divisions the state championships will rest in North Georgia to the Tennessee line. Lower levels AA to A levels the state championships will go to the mid to southern portion of Georgia programs.
If you want to petition someone to be moved out of AAA it would be Buford, they are the class of AAA football, basketball and all other sports. They are the ones to model your programs after.I’m sure they have a higher athletic budget than the mid & south Georgia teams. If WACO wants to truly be considered a powerhouse they must play teams such as Buford during the regular season. Measure yourselves against the best, play the best. Do WACO have a booster club? If so the boosters would demand your school play a better schedule rather than letting the school board & school officials determine your schedule.A great booster club has an enormous amount of power. If WACO plays good-great non regions teams it would off set the weaklings within Region III other than Thompson.WACO needs to place Fort Valley back on your schedule, a team WACO ran away from it’s division to play Augusta area teams.

@Ron….so you basically said WACO was a A school in the 90’s but played UP in AA against larger schools…..people were always hollering for Buford to play up when they were in AA but that never happened…..true on your assessment of the state championships most likely route in each classifications because there is a higher percentage of larger schools throughout North GA than the South, especially in AAA through AAAAAA………Buford non-region is not significantly greater than WACO….they have both played 3 or more similar teams in the past few years for non-region schedule, so I guess both teams need to improve their non-region scheduling…..WACO’s strength of schedule is higher than Buford this year….if WACO is running away from Peach County because of the reclassifications done by the GHSA every two years…then BUFORD was always running away from playing up when they were in AA…..no schools in AA could have modeled themselves after Buford when Buford was in AA…..talk about Buford with Buford only….talk about all the other North GA AAA schools besides Buford with the rest of the AAA throughout the state….doubt any of the other North GA AAA schools will dominate like Buford either, none of them measure up to Buford…..Peach County could have remained in the same region with WACO as well but the GHSA grouped them with schools in Macon, Albany, and Columbus/closer to Atlanta over the past few years….at least the AAA regions that WACO has played in over the past 10 years have produced state champions…..how many non-Buford AAA teams in North GA can say the same during their time in AAA?

@Canes Fan…..Cartersville, a class program…..not a Buford, no one compares to Buford…..but Cartersville, a class program…..very similar championship stats to WACO….much more comparable school to other schools than Buford which operates on a Lake Lanier Island by itself

@WACO2000. You will continue to read me saying that BUFORD can be beat in AAA. Teams with the talent, speed and must play mistake free to challange and beat BUFORD. example: Cville, WACO, and Carver Columbus. Do you agree?

To be clear @ron is a weirdo.. Dude must have had a bad experience in WACO because he seems to refuse to know WACO’s history or even Georgia high school football history before he spread those weirdo statements…

@WACO2000 When he said WACO ran from Peach Co I would have just stop trying to informed the misinformed..

It’s clear in the “Son of Waco” you have an individual who can’t write, evidently can’t speak because one speaks as they write. Can’t engage in a decent conversation without resorting to name calling. Do you think by calling me a “weirdo” bothers me, think again you’re losing sleep. My educational & work experiences consists of those you can only dream of.
“Son of Waco” I’m sure you are a graduate of the WACO school system, however it’s obvious you didn’t master reading & writing. I would strongly suggest you take a six week course at the vocational school in the basics of writing, perhaps you can take a speech class as well. There’s no reason for shame for self improvement, the shame is to need it and not do anything about it.

@ron I will admit my flaws as long as you admit you know nothing about WACO football.. So quit acting like you some real sport fan and stick to whatever it is you do… The Werido said WACO was 25 students away from being a single A school.. Until about 6yrs ago our county had two primary schools and two elementary schools. The kids from Sandersville and Tennille didn’t come together until middle and high school and I’m saying that because I have never seen known single A areas with two k-5 schools. GHSA went from a 4 class system to a 5 in 2000 and WACO went from AA to AAA. A few years later we got introduced to Thomson who went from a 4A school to a AAA school. Now GHSA went to a 6 class system which put old rivals like Dodge, Jefferson Co and Swainsboro back in our class. So it didn’t take much thought to put teams so close together in the same region, but let the weirdo tell the story and WACO hand pick their region.

Another weirdo fact he said was that North GA will dominate South GA from 6A – 3A.. In 6A the south only have 7 teams vs. North 49+ teams. In 5A 22 south teams vs. 50+ north teams. In 4A 26 south teams vs. 50 north teams. So AAA is the only fair fight for the south, but let the weirdo keep trashing south GA teams for being out numbered.

It’s hard for homegrown teams to compete with the schools that can pull players from anywhere. And most of those schools are the northern schools (Buford, SPX, etc..). Waco will play, & will bring it. Ron and whoever you support, be ready.

If say Buford, St. Pius X, North Hall, Cartersville were not in AAA the quality of this AAA football would definitely dropped. Sounds like some of you all have sour grapes having lost to those teams in the past year or 2.

REX –

All AAA teams Buford has played while the Wolves have been in AAA have lost…

Even a defending AAAAA state champion was beaten by Buford by 24…

However, they (Gainesville) was the only team with the gnads to sched the Wolves..
