I understand Maxpreps and Maxwell but ScoreAtlanta? Max and Max does not get a chance to see us play but I am sure S/A does. I think they simply don’t care for us. This is the highest we have been all year, well maybe # 7. Doesn’t really matter. The AJC poll is the king in Atlanta.

6 Teams in the top 15 in the state in the highest classification GWINNETT COUNTY FOOTBALL

2010 Brookwood
2011 Grayson
2012 Norcross
2013 (enter Gwinnett County representative here)

A tip of the hat to Buford as well…although alot of people would want to put an asterisk next to them for some reason….LOL

All of the losses obtained by the bottom three were in region when the teams were ranked in the top ten….go figure. Tough region play helps teams come playoff time….IJS

One thing about Gwinnett Co. 1/2 the teams are eliminated the 1st week of the playoffs because GHSA constantly pairs region 7AAAAAA & 8AAAAAA in the 1st round. That just stinks.

Poor Lowndes; they just get no respect, no respect at all, I’m telling you! They won by 3 over Valdosta and only lost by 30 to the #2 ranked team in the state, and by only one measly point to that powerhouse out of Region Lovejoy and they aren’t in the top 14. Are you kidding me!

@Cool_Coach1– As long as you are talking Gwinnett County, Probably should give a S/O to GAC as well. A lot of Norcross, Duluth and Suwanee kids there. A lot of good football being played up and down Buford Hwy!

Rex, it used to be (and likely still is) that regions would rotate facing each other in the playoffs, that Region 8 would play 5 one year, 6 the next, 7 following, and 5 again. Thus, Region 8 plays Region 7 in the first round once every THREE years.

@ Flyer absolutely…how could I forget one my former players plays O-line for GAC (Sophomore Ford Higgins) (we called him the Diesel back in the day ). I once heard a prominent DC from an SEC school say that his school could just recruit Buford HWY and Peachtree Industrial and get just about anything they needed!

RexDogma

it was 2 years straight that 7 played 8. This year 8 plays 6.

@ Sportsnut – If those teams were placed in the same region it would be scary for them because, unfortunately, only 4 of them would advance to the state playoffs each year. That would deprive some excellent programs of an opportunity.

You can take Archer out and give it to someone that thinks they deserve it. (1or7). When its all over somebody might get it right. We are…..ARCHER!!!!!

57Cat Lowndes will keep it’s 3-0 win over Valdosta and you can keep your “almost” Top 10 ranking in these meaningless polls. We aren’t jealous a bit.

@ Old Bear == That would be a nice region but I would not like it for the reason you stated. I like things just as the are. Just posting the ranked teams from the area. If it was a region, it would rival any in the state.

@Cool Coach how about 5 out of 15 from Region 7….And only 4 make the playoffs.

@RidgeGuy== Whoever plays that 3 or 4 seed better beware …Mill Creek could ended missing the 4 seed by a total of 4 points (-1 to Ridge -3 to NG)….. after their showing vs NG nobody wants to play them in the first round…..Trust me !

@ High 5 – 908… Hit the link below.. Buford is ranked the 15th best high school in Ga. academically speaking.. Like I say, Buford not only excels on the court or field of play but is very well rounded. That’s why many want to come here.. Not just for the athletics.. You should see their Arts Center & campus.. Second to none..
