List/Trivia/Quote: 12 more runners join 1,000-yard club

It’s the dream of every running back to be called a 1,000-yard rusher. GHSF Daily has found 12 Georgia players who reached the century mark in games last week. That more than doubles the number of 1,000-yard rushers in the state this season. The season total for the 12 who reached the milestone last week is to the left; last week’s game totals are parentheses:

1,194 – Tyler Epps, Southeast Bulloch (240)

1,161 – Shannon Brooks, Pickens (163)

1,146 – Mecole Hardman, Elbert County (166)

1,130 – Jamarcus Morrissette, Chapel Hill (385)

1,081 – Tra Hardy, Vidalia (192)

1,060 – Deshawn Waller, B.E.S.T. Academy (185)

1,049 – Stanton Truitt, Monroe Area (136)

1,042 – Austin Burt, Harlem (106)

1,039 – Esaias Chapman, Harris County (226)

1,023 – Mario Cherry, Thomasville (163)

1,015 – Ty Clemons, McEachern (164)

1,010 – Duranta Dunson, Heard County (175)

GHSF Daily will run lists of all the state’s leading rushers, passers and receivers on Friday.

M.L. King has defeated Stephenson three consecutive times. The teams meet again Friday. What is the only other school that has an active three-game winning streak against Stephenson? (Answer Wednesday)

Answer to Monday’s question: Brookwood has beaten Berkmar 22 consecutive times. That is the longest active winning streak for one school against another in Gwinnett County.

GHSF Daily asked coaches during the offseason if they have a favorite quote, saying or motto. We’ll run a different one each day. Coaches are invited to add to our list.

It’s the dream of every running back to make it to the Dome. I’d rather play for a State Championship than rush for 1000. Just saying.

Jordan Ellis from Peachtree Ridge is not on this list – the VA commit. He is probably the best back in the state of Georgia.
