The McEachern v. North Cobb game will show case some on the best players in Region 4. McEachern has arguably the best two backs in the State and North Cobb has a fine QB with several talented receivers. Their big back Herrod should be getting more attention. He runs through arm tackles with a violence you just don’t see. Can North Cobb’s defense slow down the running game? Can McEachern’s defense stop the pass? A lot of talent on the field Friday night for the game that may well decide the region winner.

@region4fan, You are very correct, should be a fast paced and exciting game to watch. A stat for you though is Kyle Hockman is 4-1 since he took over McEachern against Shane Queen at NC. In that same span of time, NC has never broken the 30 point barrier against McEachern. From what I have seen from what I believe to be the fastest team in the state McEachern, NC will have to go against history and score over 30 points to knock them off. Can NC’s undersized O line handle the big, fast, strong, and athletic front 4 for McE? Can McE Slow down NC’s skill players? I believe McE is athletic enough to match up on the edge with NC (which is why I think NC has had so much trouble with McE over the past few years) and they will dominate them in the trenches. The one thing that can even the playing field in this game is penalties though. McE has a tendency to get stupid penalties that halt drives and continue drives for the other team, if McE does not play discipline, NC can beat them. But in the end, I conclude McEachern has too much firepower, depth, and athleticism and beats North Cobb 45-31.

@Theinsider: I won’t predict a score but the questions you raise and your analysis is certainly shared by some I have spoken to about the game. North Cobb only has two turnovers in 6 games and that is impressive. The challenge for the North Cobb O line is there, but I suspect McEachern’s D line will be a challenge for anyone in the State. North Cobb’s defense showed me a lot when they shut down Hillgrove in the second half last week. If North Cobb can shut down the passing game and not give up the big plays like they did last year, then North Cobb has a real chance in this one.

I agree that NC has not been able to keep MAC off the edge. The key I think will be that NC cannot afford to let MAC get off to the start that it did last year. Also NC is goin to have some serious issues with MAC’s d-line but look for them to run quick hitters and screens early. I think NC has to play their up-tempo style to try and wear down that d-line. Also if Herrod can get goin for NC it will be huge. He doesnt have the speed of Taj but he is strong physical kid who can grind out the tough yards and break tackles even when there isnt a hole. Should be a good one
