We just returned home from the Commerce/Prince game and the young men from Commerce have absolutely nothing to hang their head over for that game. The game swung on 2 Prince special team’s touchdowns and 2 turnovers in the red zone for Commerce. #46 for Commerce is a beast and ran with a lot of heart tonight.

Nice to see OLM pull out a close one. Very easily could be 5-1. I would think Holy Innocents would be in trouble. Already 4 losses and still have Pace and Landmark left. They’ll definitely need to win out.

Just got home from one of the most exciting football games I’ve witnessed in person. The Lion’s Den at Christian Heritage was the stage for a battle where explosive play offense, drive stifling mistakes and critical defensive performance led to a final 38 second TD giving Darlington a Region 6-A win.

Looks like its shaping up to be a great post season coming up. Calvary is playing well along with Aquinus thats on a roll with a huge win in Lincolnton! Darlington looks strong too. Last years runner up Prince Ave looks very strong with that speedy running back. What about OLM! At 2-4 could they make the post season if they win the rest of their games? They would have to beat ELCA first. Its the greatest test for their program. Landmark’s gotta play Pace, HIES, and ELCA to finish their season undefeated…a tall order! ELCA’s got OLM, Pace, and Landmark all worthy opponents away from home. If OLM can somehow muster wins against ELCA and Darlington then it is really on. What great opportunities for all of these teams. Who will be the last two standing week 14??? Go single A!

On the private side I still haven’t seen enough evidence to convince me that ELCA is not head and shoulders above everyone else and the rest of the teams are playing for 2nd place. ELCA’s region opponents will have their shot in the next few games and that should help to formulate a picture, but in my heart I still think this is true.

Who said it wasn’t true. We are all just waiting to see if they let themselves get beat.

@ Bucket …. I have to agree with you on ELCA. I might be way off here, but I really think if Our Lady of Mercy or Holy innocents go 5-5 they will be in the playoffs …. I also think both could be a “bubble” team the last week ( for the #16 spot ) with a 4-6 record. OLM is accumulating points with the schedule they will have played … I think they can beat Darlington and finish 5-5.

Congrats to Aquinas ( players, coaches, and fans ) for ending that ugly streak against Lincoln Co. It’s just my take on things, but this is the team that will challenge ELCA for the State Championship.

Go Panthers! Big win over Irwin Co and showing you are a player for the Region 2 championship and a “player” in the state playoffs!
