  • The Rabun County Wildcats didn’t pull off the win over the No. 7 Jefferson Dragons, but they did prove their days as an 8-AA bottom feeder are over in second-year coach Lee Shaw’s new era. The Wildcats had the lead, but ultimately fell to Jefferson, 26-0, for their first loss of the season. Rabun County is now 5-1 and 2-1 in 8-AA. Meanwhile, the Dragons – without quarterback Evan Shirreffs, who’s out for the season with an injury – improved to 4-2 and 2-1 in region play. Both teams are behind the No. 4 Washington-Wilkes Tigers in the standings, who ran to a 56-16 win over Greene County.
  • The No. 8 Brooks County Trojans took charge of Region 1-AA, beating the No. 9 Fitzgerald Purple Hurricanes, 39-21. The Trojans (6-1, 3-0) are looking to repeat as region champions while the Purple Hurricanes (4-2-1, 2-1) are hoping Brooks County slips.
  • There will be a new team at No. 10, as Macon County lost to Bleckley County in a key 4-AA game. Bleckley County (5-1, 3-0) is a possible candidate to replace Macon County (4-2, 2-1), along with the Bowdon Red Devils, who beat Temple, 48-13. The Red Devils are now 7-0 and 5-0 in 5-AA. In other games involving top 10 teams, No. 1 Lamar County defeated Monticello, 47-7; No. 3 Greater Atlanta Christian beat Westminster, 49-3; No. 5 Calhoun shutout Pepperell, 45-0; Benedictine topped Toombs County, 51-13. No. 2 Lovett was on bye.

Lamar County will have to get by Calhoun who won’t lose again. The will be back in the dome where they have been for the last five years.

The way those Trojans are playing and coaches are coaching I don’t think it will be hard for the Trojans to get past Calhoun especially if we don’t have to travel to there place and you know what I am talking about we got cheated in 2012 season but just hope you don’t have to play Benedictine in the playoffs that will be a good game but I think BC will win it.
