Gainesville 51, Cedar Shoals 6: The Red Elephants played host to the Jaguars and ran out to a 30-0 halftime lead. Deshaun Watson had a big first half with three touchdown passes and an impressive 63-yard touchdown run. He also added another touchdown in the third. Michael Byrd added the other two touchdowns on the ground with a 15-yard run and a 1-yard plunge.
Heritage-Conyers 23, Winder-Barrow 13: Austin Kulp kicked three field goals (30, 35 and 38 yards) to lift the Patriots to victory. Running back C.J. Stone was also impressive, rushing for two scores. Heritage improves to 4-2 and 3-1 in Region 8-AAAAA. The Bulldogs have now lost four in a row.
Kell 30, Riverwood 14: Four different Longhorns players reached the end zone to pace to victory. Dyllen Reed and Jay Moxey recorded 3-yard touchdown run respectively. Quarterback Matt McGuigan completed a 6-yard strike to Taylor Henkle and Errol Breaux had a 65-yard kickoff return for a score.
Northside-Warner Robins 42, Houston County 10: Glenn Smith ran for three touchdowns and passed for one more out of the backfield as Northside rolled over Houston County. Willie Jordan had 10 receptions for 118 yards and he hauled in a 34-yard scoring strike from Smith. The host Eagles also got 73 passing yards from quarterback Marcus Ivory, who hit Arlie Weber for a touchdown.
Pope 49, Osborne 20: A close-knit halftime score quickly ballooned into a rout for Pope. The Greyhounds led 21-14 at the break. Early in the third quarter, quarterback Taylor Wolfe connected on a 75-yard strike to wide out Mason Shiflett, making the 28-14 and eliminated any doubt for Pope.
Rome 36, Paulding County 20: Rome’s Richard Sullivan returned an interception 60-yards for a touchdown and Devantea Mallet added a touchdown pass to Jairus Creamer before Frank Griffin eventually capped off a 22-point second quarter for the visiting Wolves. Myron Washington and Frank Griffin iced the game in the second half with 66- and 77-yard touchdown runs, respectively.
Union Grove 16, Ola 14: Caleb Ham returned an interception for 60 yards and a touchdown to put the visiting Wolverines ahead 7-0 in the first quarter. However, Ola came back to lead 14-7 in the third quarter, but Union Grove’s Sean Davis kicked a 30-yard field goal and Chad Reaves rushed for a touchdown from 14 yards out midway through the fourth. Demetrius Jackson intercepted the Mustangs on the following drive.
Whitewater 17, Northgate 6: Christian Wofford rushed for more than 200 yards and he also scored two touchdowns on the ground for host Northgate. Northgate answered a second-quarter Whitewater touchdown with a score of its own, but it missed the extra point to trail 7-6 at halftime. Liam Klim added a 21-yard field goal for Whitewater.
