AAAAA roundup

By Score Atlanta

Gainesville 51, Cedar Shoals 6: The Red Elephants played host to the Jaguars and ran out to a 30-0 halftime lead. Deshaun Watson had a big first half with three touchdown passes and an impressive 63-yard touchdown run. He also added another touchdown in the third. Michael Byrd added the other two touchdowns on the ground with a 15-yard run and a 1-yard plunge.

Heritage-Conyers 23, Winder-Barrow 13: Austin Kulp kicked three field goals (30, 35 and 38 yards) to lift the Patriots to victory. Running back C.J. Stone was also impressive, rushing for two scores. Heritage improves to 4-2 and 3-1 in Region 8-AAAAA. The Bulldogs have now lost four in a row.

Kell 30, Riverwood 14: Four different Longhorns players reached the end zone to pace to victory. Dyllen Reed and Jay Moxey recorded 3-yard touchdown run respectively. Quarterback Matt McGuigan completed a 6-yard strike to Taylor Henkle and Errol Breaux had a 65-yard kickoff return for a score.

Northside-Warner Robins 42, Houston County 10: Glenn Smith ran for three touchdowns and passed for one more out of the backfield as Northside rolled over Houston County. Willie Jordan had 10 receptions for 118 yards and he hauled in a 34-yard scoring strike from Smith. The host Eagles also got 73 passing yards from quarterback Marcus Ivory, who hit Arlie Weber for a touchdown.

Pope 49, Osborne 20: A close-knit halftime score quickly ballooned into a rout for Pope. The Greyhounds led 21-14 at the break. Early in the third quarter, quarterback Taylor Wolfe connected on a 75-yard strike to wide out Mason Shiflett, making the 28-14 and eliminated any doubt for Pope.

Rome 36, Paulding County 20: Rome’s Richard Sullivan returned an interception 60-yards for a touchdown and Devantea Mallet added a touchdown pass to Jairus Creamer before Frank Griffin eventually capped off a 22-point second quarter for the visiting Wolves. Myron Washington and Frank Griffin iced the game in the second half with 66- and 77-yard touchdown runs, respectively.

Union Grove 16, Ola 14: Caleb Ham returned an interception for 60 yards and a touchdown to put the visiting Wolverines ahead 7-0 in the first quarter. However, Ola came back to lead 14-7 in the third quarter, but Union Grove’s Sean Davis kicked a 30-yard field goal and Chad Reaves rushed for a touchdown from 14 yards out midway through the fourth. Demetrius Jackson intercepted the Mustangs on the following drive.

Whitewater 17, Northgate 6: Christian Wofford rushed for more than 200 yards and he also scored two touchdowns on the ground for host Northgate. Northgate answered a second-quarter Whitewater touchdown with a score of its own, but it missed the extra point to trail 7-6 at halftime. Liam Klim added a 21-yard field goal for Whitewater.

No biggie…need to edit “visiting Northgate” to visiting Whitewater. NG looked like they were going to run all over WHS on the first drive but stalled and missed a field goal. 2nd half WHS finally started moving the ball and combined just enough passing to go with a pretty good rushing attack to get 10 2nd half points.

I got to agree with chase, there are some great teams in AAAAA, some great games in 5AAAAA, these Paulding County teams really got heated battles over there, too bad I couldn’t make it to the game on yesterday. Congratulations to all of AAAAA in the state, we are showing more consistency than AAAAA teams Lol.,

Anyway, let me kick off the big CATS game in Dekalb county, this week TUCKER vs STEPHENSON. The most talked about, trash talking, heated game against cross town rivals in the state. I’m grilling Tiger meat today on the grill, all this week it’s tiger tiger tiger on the menu; I peeped Stephenson menu for this coming week.
Monday it’s grill (TIGERS) on bun…
Tuesday it’s (TIGER PIZZA)
Wednesday it’s (TIGER’S SOUP)
Thursday it’s (FILET A TIGER)
Friday at Hallford stadium it’s going to be (A TIGERS BEAT DOWN SMOTHERED WITH SEASONED JAAAAAGUARS SAVORY SAUCE)

JAB don’t be overconfident about Stephenson beating the Tucker Tigers this coming Friday. I’ve had the opportunity to watch both teams play this season and I must say Stephenson didn’t impress me that much. Both teams have some weaknesses which I choose not to disclose here. My prediction is the team with the least amount of turnovers will win.

I watch all of the so call top dogs in 5A includin Gainsvile. Gainsville QB is dangerous if you dont harass him and let him have all day to pass. plus he could run to so you have to keep a quick LB spying on him. The Paulding teams are playin nintendo football. thats why every week they have a new number 1. Befor anyone comment, I was at the North and South game scouting to see if my Jags face them what they have. NOTHIN!! As far as the SHOWDOWN. Its in the bag! Jaguars wil beat the Tuckr “Tiggers”. Tucker is to small and everyone talk about there speed. Tehy aint that fast. It just look that way against Lakeside and Dunwoody; but then again, my nephews pee wee league team would look fast againast them to. Tucker aint got nothin for our big 6′6 TE. Their corners to small to contain him. They look very weak against the pass. Plus our RBs should each get at least 100 yards on them because i didnt see much sure tackling from them. A BIG weakness and they gotta be scared to faced #10. I here he will get at least 4-5 sacks because they line is also very small. Like I said befire on these blogs. tucker have some corner-size dudes playing o-line. LOL. After 10/11 Stephenson #1. tucker might get a #3 or #4 after the huge beating they will take on the field. Peace yawl!

Truth Sayer, let me make a bold prediction…All that talent over at Stephenson, and I agree they are always loaded, but i predict they will not make it to the Final 4 in AAAAA. They might beat Tucker, but they will get beat in the playoffs, they always do. They won’t make it past the quarterfinals. They don’t have the coaching.

@ bucfan, I haven’t seen you on these blogs, seem like you just woke up and said let me post something. It’s a reason why Stephenson & Tucker is ranked 1 & 2 , with all due respect Tucker has won the state in this classification 2 out of the last five years; they both Stephenson & Tucker was very young last year. Stephenson was on it’s way probably to the dome but there QB went down with a broken leg in the second qtr. at Ware county, Tucker lost a nail biter to NSWR.

????? Who do you think will beat them? Not taking anything away from any other region in AAAAA. You guys need to get off of that kick that Stephenson will get out coached, they went into EP and beat a very well coach team. The game was pretty much match during the 1st half, but Stephenson came out 2nd half and out coached a well coached EP team. So bucfan, if you gonna get on this blog and talk, talk facts my brother instead of gestures from the top of your head! :)

@JAB, I would have responded to “NoTruthSayer” but I’ll let you deal with my light weight. Mean while let me point out a simple fact with all the prognosticators are beginning to come out of the woodwork… This will be a battle on Friday night, but this senior nucleus of players have never lost a game to Stephenson or MLK in their career. They beat both of them as 9th graders and they beat both of them as junior varsity. Our JV beat Stephenson last year so If everything stays the same we should continue the trend we started three years ago.

@ TuckerDAD, I see your analogy, but it’s not gonna work on this Stephenson varsity 2013 edition. Stephenson JV has beaten MLK on several occasions, but MLK ended up beating their varsity and you know Stephenson Middle always wins the middle school football championship! You also forgot we beat you last year, same team, same coaching staff, enough of analogies. With that in mind, Stephenson wins hands down,

@TuckerDAD you sound like you related to @Bucfan becquse you definitekly livin in the past bro. You actually said some wack crap about 9th grade? Seriously? JV? seriously? C’mon man! Dont forget we gat yawl secret weopon and he gon run all over yawl d-line and you’l pee wee size LBs with no speed. in case yawl forget he only runs north to south. none of that running from side to side like yawl left-over RBs. I aint tryin to put Tuck down yo because they my next favorite team after the JAGS, but come this Friday they should do like Banneker and drive to the wrong stadium, cause it wouldn make a differnce wheher they show up or not. the outcome will be the same. that 56 point average is going down the drain.

@NoTruthSayer, JAB was right, you have climbed from some obscure place to enter this blog without any fact or content. Our linebackers are great size standing at 6′0, 6′1, and 6′2. Your linebackers can be considered small. I know for a fact the #5 is not more than 5′9.
As for our running back situation, we will have no problems replacing #25. His replacement is doing the same thing he was last year, but I will let you see that on Friday. #1 is Sanders and I’m sure you’ve all heard about him, #5 is Towns who is coming off his second year from a ACL injury and is in full stride. He was our number one back in the tenth grade before he got hurt so that just gives us two number 1 backs with him and Sanders in the backfield. And if you think it ends there we will have # 23 come in to backup either one of the other backs and he may be the fastest of them all. We have no shortage of RB’s at Tucker!!!

We expect our scoring average to go down in games like these. This is considered a playoff game to us as it will have the same level of competition and enthusiasm as a playoff game. Unlike Stephenson we don’t get caught up in counting regular season victories we count CHAMPIONSHIPS!!!
Let’s start counting together 1….. 2…… 3 (this year)
Now you count yours ………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………….. I’ll wait………………………………………………………… still waiting………………………………………… Oh, you don’t have any. Well I guess you will have to go back to telling us how many D1’s y’all put in college.

The week is finally here and I can’t wait. Enough of the meaningless chatter! This is the year we have all been waiting for at Tucker. This group of seniors have never lost to Stephenson or MLK at any level. This is the strongest group of kids, collectively, that we have had in many years at Tucker. They were on the field playing when we won the state in “2011″, They took the ride to NSWR and played on the field when the 101 yd. miracle fumble return took us to the championship, they played when we lost to Stars Mill in 2010 to be put out in the quarter finals, they suffered through the lost to NSWR last year when it took a huge fourth quarter comeback to beat us.
The point is that these kids are seasoned and well experienced. It may not get us to the dome but it sure as heck is going to be a fun ride, and the bus is pulling out this Friday night from Halford stadium in Dekalb county.

I’m posting my Saturday October 12, 2013 blog now. The game between Stephenson was all that it was set out to be, a packed out house and hyped players, coaches, bands and fans. The game was played fairly close in the first half, however Stephenson strong defense held tucker scoreless as the JAGS manage to score 2 touchdowns; they went in halftime 14 – 0 (Stephenson). Stephenson Jaguar band blew Tucker band right off the field.

Second half was just as hard fought as the first half; Tucker did manage to score a touchdown in the 3rd qtr. on a Jaguar fumble, in the 4th qtr. Stephenson defense continue to stop Tucker’s high powered offense, with 4:02 minutes left on the clock Stephenson kicked a 35 yard field goal which diminished any hopes of a Tucker comeback, final score Stephenson 17 Tucker 7…

Stephenson remains unbeaten and takes over as the #1 seed in region 6AAAAA and the top spot in the state of Georgia…:)

@TruthSayer, the offense is the deflection, the DEFENSE is now and has always been where Tucker makes their money at. We run the ball at Tucker only because GHSA say we have to put a OFFENSE on the field. If we had our way about it we would just keep the defense on the field after all change of possessions and turnovers! It’s allllllll about the DEFENSE shorty!!!!!

@ ALL TUCKERRED UP, Here we go again with someone talking from the top of their head facts. Where were you guys last year when Stephenson beat Tucker, a big game, which dethrone them from region dominance, they won 2 games in the playoffs which silence all those talking about they won’t get past the 1st round. Stephenson went up to EP undefeated and beat a well coached team in the Boneyard, on their field and the next week, they went to Ware County and lost to them only because their QB went down in the 2nd qtr.

The Jaguars was not out coached or anything, they just lost the game and they were relatively a young team! Now they are back bigger & stronger. You guys need to go pick on someone else, because Stephenson is the only Dekalb county school other than MLK, who has a school history of either winning their region and making the playoff every year since they started region play. Tucker only started region dominance in the 90’s before that it was Lakeside, Marist, St. Pius, SWD, etc.

So if you are going to trash talk let’s trash talk, but if you are going to talk stats and specifics, show me some facts…

Well, we have 5 days of trash talking and chest beating then all the talking and speculation will come to a close – #2 STEPHENSON vs #1 TUCKER.

Both teams have excellent HS football talent, so we can close that discussion. The winner will come down to preparation from its leadership (coaches). Tucker WINS the 2013 matchup and remains the team that the rest of 5A is looking up at.

Hope WarEagle stays around after Marist beats up on Lithonia in the first game of the double header at Halliford – I’m sure he will.
