TRIVIA

In 1947, Lanier of Macon won the GHSA’s first state football championship, then won a boys basketball state title in the same academic year. Since then, five other schools have won the football and boys basketball state titles in the same year. Can you name them? Hint: The years were 1970-71, 1973-74, 1988-89, 1989-90 and 2012-13. (Answer Friday)

Answer to Wednesday’s question: The 2012 state champion that was unranked one year ago today was Jefferson. The Dragons hadn’t won a playoff game or been ranked since 2009, and they lost their season opener to Class A Commerce. They debuted at No. 9 in the rankings on Oct. 15 with a 5-1 record and finished 14-1.

Says a lot about Gainesville to still average 47.7 when Buford held them to 14 in their game..

I feel really bad for one loss West Hall tomorrow night.. I have friends kids that play there. The Spartans are having their best season in many years..

Region play is underway and some of these averages are about to come down. Unless there is no D being played.
