Norcross does not deserve to JUMP to number 7 NOR be 3 is some polls. Lovejoy gets the bad wrap for strength of schedule, yes it’s weak, but who has Norcross beat? Parkview, Duluth and Mill Creek shouldn’t be enough to jump you to 7 if East Coweta, Alpharetta, and Druid Hills make you drop from 4 to 6 in two weeks! That’s absolutely horrible. Norcross nor Marist should be in the top 10 of their respective classes. Now granted, Lovett is good but they are still a AA school and they gave Marist the business! THEY ARE WHAT THEIR RECORD SAYS THEY ARE. They don’t deserve to be there especially if they aren’t winning! Lovejoy got grief for three years about our schedule, the playoffs came and they dominated and loss in the championship game. We were what our record said we were. What other 2 loss teams do you have in the top 10? NONE! Lovejoy loss to Colquitt in a battle down in one of the toughest arenas to play in on their opening night and we have the same record, played the same Peachtree Ridge team in a scrimmage but Lovejoy is 4 slots worse than Colquitt. I’m confused

@ lhsAlum33 == Don’t worry. It will all play itself out. We are in the same boat as last season. Lovejoy has the respect of other teams around the state but not the pollsters. They will notice and take heed. They think we lost too much. Just watch what happens.

Coach Hughes will get coach of the year. He can’t miss after what is about to happen. The class is not strong this year and the top teams are included. It is going to be fun come November.

@Sportsnut & @LHSAlum33………………….I agree with @Sportsnut. Don’t give these polls too much credence. As with any compilation of numbers, there is a margin of error involved; but “numbers” don’t lie and the only numbers that matter are “wins” and “losses” come Playoff time. It’s too early in the season for these polls to mean much. The pool of available information is too small; 4 – 5 games especially when most were against weaker teams for some does not give the true story.

I’m a Lovejoy fan and became one ever since they faced my son’s Tucker team in the 2011 State Championship. I like the grittiness and confidence that Coach Hughes and his staff appear to have instilled in those boys. I heard a lot of negativity about them throughout 2012 and was very happy to see them quiet their critics and naysayers playoff-round after playoff-round as they made their way to the 6A championships. I realize that teams graduate players and good ones leave, but success usually breeds success, so while I don’t know what Lovejoy has this year, I wouldn’t be surprised if they become part of the 6A playoff story again…….unless the Alpharetta game was not an aberration.
