Why not recap on East Paulding? They did pretty well. Where is the “The Cannon Rules?” I guess I need to count on him for my EP reviews!

@High 5,

If you know EP did good, why do you need the AJC or Cannon to write about it.? EP gets plenty of inches and especially by us bloggers. If you have an opinion about a game lets hear it, if you just want to complain about exposure, then wait for the Paulding News or just don’t comment.

What a great game at the Spartan Arena! South Paulding showed great heart and perseverance to come back and beat a very good Allatoona football team. The Spartans have a great leader in Burks! Very fun team to watch! Go SPARTANS!!!

I’m not Cannon Rules but I’ll give a brief update on EP. Game started with Starting QB (Webb) dressed and ready to play but on the side line. 2 play in and the backup QB was shaken up on a play. Webb then comes in and his first play a 40yard pass. The next play was a TD run by Ray. This is the tone for the whole game. EP is just a different team with Webb in. You have a TRUE pass threat with him in. The other team just can’t key on the run. Ray is a nice runner but not a power runner so with things spread out now Ray had a great game. Webb still isn’t 100% jet. He is also a threat to run when needed and it was obvious that wasn’t going to happen. One occasion 2nd and 1 backup QB was brought in for the QB sneaks. Good call from the coach. EP also has a quality kicker again which was a question mark after Hemphill graduated. Nice 45 yarder that was good from 60.

Funny note in the game. Villa Rica’s FG kicker I heard from Todd was Homecoming queen 2 weeks ago. She came in for a 45yard attempt. It was blocked right back to her and she picked up the ball to run it. She ran right into the pack of players all standing around. Looked like the young me all had the same thing in mind. The VR player saying “Don’t you tackler her” and the EP players saying “I’m not going to tackle her you tackle her”. It just looked funny. No pushing, shoving or blocking, just a bunch of players standing in a group.

Thanks FridayNightLightsFan…Good recap of the game…Glad you mentioned the VILLA RICA kicker, that was a funny moment…

Here is how I had the games in our Region going in:

“THE CANNON RULES” take on last nights games were as follows:

So I went 2 / 2 as SOUTH PAULDING and ALLATOONA had the expected DOG FIGHT and in overtime SOUTH PAULDING came out the winner…Also ROME went to NEW MANCHESTER and came away with a win so that has REGION 5AAAAA looking like this:

# 3—ALLATOONA 4 / 1
# 6—VILLA RICA 3 / 2
# 7—ROME 2 / 2

EAST is off this coming week and a game that will tell a lot on how the Region shapes up has SOUTH PAULDING traveling to NORTH PAULDING…With EAST off I plan to be at this game, it should be a good one.

As FNL said EAST is a different team with our starting Senior QB back in control, with last night’s game under his belt and a week off to rest up and heal more Mitchell Webb should be good to go for the HIRAM game at “THE BONEYARD” on Oct. 11th! The EAST Defense looked much better last night and with Mitchell running the Offense again EAST can feel much better about the upcoming games against SOUTH PAULDING and ALLATOONA!

Next week should be a great game with South visiting North. Avenging last years overtime loss to North and staying unbeaten motivating South….North learned a valuable lesson after their big we over East to start the year then being humbled at home the next week by New Manchester. Wolfpack has shown steady improvement and consistency since. Will South be reading the clippings and over look North…doubtful but a slight let down wouldn’t be a surprise. Both teams appear to know where the end zone is….both averaging over 40 per game. Question will be who can find find enough defense, get a key turn over, or get a special teams play to turn it on way or the other.

Allatoona will regroup and with East coming back a bit it seems like a 4 team race for the playoffs, but in what order is anyone’s guess (North, South, East, Allatoona)….. Rome and now New Manchester appear to be out of the mix.

Your right on the shoot out. I knew the game with Allatoona would be a high scoring game and expect the North game to be the same. It’s going to be fun to watch this game. The Spartans have had to come back in two games this year during the later part of the game so I hope that experience will help in a hostile environment. Big game this week!

Well my Bucs took it on the chin last night, not to make excuses but losing Bettistea probably cost us the game. Congrats to South Paulding though, they deserve it. Like i said before the season, Allatoona is very young so beat them this year, because you won’t be able to beath them the next 2 years. This is gonna be a fun race to watch, hope we get Bettistea back soon…

McIntosh won 6 games in 1995 but it was against a non-region football schedule. The last time they won six games against a region schedule was 1987. They won 5 games against a region schedule last year for the first time since 1988 (1994 was again against a non-region schedule when they went 5-5).

5AAAAA looks so weak..They don’t play real football over there at those school. Those athletes can’t matchup with Dekalb players. Demographics don’t allow for it. Cannon rules I know it must be hard every year to get your hopes up only to fail miserably ever year!! For the record I will be on you for the rest of the year after that stunt you pulled that I might add did not work
