Blessed Trinity 27, Woodward Academy 17: Sophomore running back Milton Shelton rushed for 126 yards and an 80-yard touchdown run for host Blessed Trinity, and Carter McManes rushed for a 39-yard touchdown with :38 remaining in the game to seal the win. Marc Nolan of Blessed Trinity added field goals of 51 and 45 yards.
Buford 63, Banks County 0: The host Wolves took a 49-point lead at the half with 35 of those points coming in the opening quarter. Martin Mangram ran for a 45-yard touchdown and Isaac Nauta hauled in a 35-yard touchdown reception. This is the second consecutive shutout for the Wolves’ defense.
Cartersville 41, Coahulla Creek 3: Irwin Rivera gave visiting Coahulla Creek an early 3-0 lead, but Cartersville responded with 41 unanswered points. Cartersville quarterback Brooks Barden threw four first half touchdowns, including two to Trase Fezzia, to give the Purple Hurricanes a 38-3 lead. In the fourth quarter, Zach Edwards kicked his second field goal of the game to make the score 41-3.
Cedar Grove 27, Decatur 3: Cedar Grove tailback Deion Sellers scampered for 194 yards on 22 carries. Decatur ran 52 plays to Cedar Grove’s 38, but the visiting team broke Decatur with two dramatic plays: Sellers’ 48 yard touchdown run on the last play of the first half to give Cedar Grove 13-3 lead and a 47-yard pass from quarterback James Hartsfield to Brandon Norwood who made a sensational over-the-shoulder grab. Hartsfield threw only five times, but completed four for 76 yards and two touchdowns. Both teams are 4-1.
Jefferson County 7, Wesleyan 0: The host Wolves were held to 64 yards of offense, but nearly upset visiting Jefferson County. Wesleyan held the Warriors scoreless until Jefferson County’s Kobe Jackson scored with one minute left in the game. Wesleyan quarterback Drew Aspinwall was 4 of 18 passing for 38 yards and running back Josh Jarrard led the Wolves with 28 yards on the ground.
North Hall 51, Dawson County 6: Senior quarterback Andrew Smith led the host Trojans to a 37-0 halftime lead. Smith rushed for four first half touchdowns. As a team the Trojans had 296 rushing yards before the half. In the second half, Will Cape and Destin Bennett each added a rushing score.
St. Pius 45, Towers 7: The visiting Golden Lions took a commanding 31-7 halftime lead. Dalton Wilson led the way on the ground with two touchdowns. Quarterback Joey Conners also added two rushing touchdowns while also throwing for another score. Towers’ only score came on an interception thrown by Conners that was returned 52 yards.
