AA roundup: Lions, Cats win again

Greater Atlanta Christian 67, Howard School (Tenn.) 20: The host Spartans staked themselves a 28-0 lead in the first quarter behind Micah Abernathy’s two early scores. The defense and specials teams decided that they wanted to get in on the scoring action as well. Parker Pohill returned a punt 69 yards for a touchdown and Ross Wood ran an interception back 90 yards for a score.

Lovett 35, Fort Payne (Ala.) 13: Lovett improved to 5-0 after roaring to a 21-0 halftime lead. The visiting Lions rushed for 348 yards while causing five turnovers. Running back Grant Haley rushed for 141 yards on just four carries including a 99-yard touchdown run in the second quarter. Miles Henderson added 100 rushing yards and two scores for Lovett.

Westminster 30, Thomson 13: Westminster had four interceptions in its win over visiting Thomson, one each by Chase Williams, Luke Johnson, Nelson Douglas and Charlie Trense. Johnson returned his pick for the Wildcats’ second touchdown of the game. Quarterback Rankin Woley led the offensive charge with two touchdown passes and Trey Blasingame booted three field goals—all from more than 40 yards.

Lovett is solid and I wish you luck against WACO. Your coaches will be ready and I would love to watch that one.

I heard a new kid name JT scored the first touchdown. Is that true and if so, why didn’t you mention in your article?
